The reason Cop cars became synonymous with Fords, is because from 1940s-1990s Camaros (most Chevy engines ) weren’t reliable and literally totaled the block at high speeds. Tuning is very important, especially with upgraded ignition. If you upgrade your injector size, never drive it, always have it towed to a tuner shop, or at the very least load a basemap and drive to the nearest tuner, long as if its short distance. Otherwise youre looking at a hydrolocked engine and that is no fun

Remapping and reprogramming the OEM ECU is pretty nice, especially because these ECU usually reacts better than most aftermarket/custom programmable ECU or ECU with a improper piggyback device and got plenty of diagnosis tools to keep your vehicle running perfectly and smoothly. That's the best option for people that like cars, but really don't have the time, money nor knowledge to troubleshoot and tune the engine. Actually, that's what I usually recommend to people with expensive cars or cars that you need to run reliably... and there isn't any shame about it, because a lot of people like cars aren't a big fan of getting the hands dirty or going into the "mathematical & scientific nerdy zone" of fine tuning. But some engines already reach their limits (especially smaller ones) or got technical limitations in the ECU (example: not being able to read positive pressure in the intake manifold, which will result in lean mixture)... That's when you should try the DYI solutions and try to learn how to tune and engine and adjust all the variables by your own self! That's a skill required for people that likes to tune carburators too. I wouldn't call it necessarily the next level, because some professional remappings already reach the engine full potential and... It isn't reasonable go to DYI solutions. Hehehe

Thank you so much for all of that info! Sadly just been modifying my cars for only 3 years now and haven’t really gotten to the tuning part yet cuz I had no idea what to do with the ecu. This definitely clears up any issues I have thought of.

A tune was the first thing I got for my 2011. it made a world of difference. Not so much in power, but in day to day drivability, especially with modern drive by wire throttles an their horrible lag. It just makes the car more fun to drive. Plus the diagnostic abilities pay for them self lol

I'm in collage and I bought a Nissan 350z and everyone at my university thinks that I paid a crap ton of money for it. "they are not car guys" but I have to say it is amazing!

Oof. $700 for mine. The Unitronic Cable, plus the Tune. And I did this twice, once for the MKV and once for the B7. I do recommend getting the highest level tune you plan to go as you said, because with Unitronic, you also get each tune level below what you paid for.

just wanted to give any mustang owners a heads up. i own a charger hemi 5.7 an am looking to get a mustang gt but i really only like the 05-09 body style are the newer 2011-2018 mustang 5.0 easy and affordable to mod

So if you get a new car, do you need a new tuner? Or would it be cheaper to pay to unmarry it? And if you get a new car, do the revisions cover the new car, or would you need to buy a new tune pack?

Nice! Wow, so I checked out your channel, and we're following a similar modding pattern. I see you also did wheels and tires, exhaust, and tune. After my axleback gets on, I'll probably H-pipe my car as well. I hated how all the quad-exhaust catbacks came with X-pipe, so I had to get an axleback for now. Headers are something I'm still looking at as well, but probably later down the road.

my tuner came with pre installed performance tunes for torque and hp and 1 for gas saving

If I got a Lund custom tune, and I sent them the exact modification that my mustang has “(Muffler delete)” Would it adjust the air fuel ratio to make it safe to drive. And could I put on my stock muffs, and load in the stock tune my car had before. Would I pass emissions?

I've done multiple mods to my car, and my dad has been telling me to leave it alone, but I'm not done with mods yet so 5:00 does apply to me lol

Mixam the Slav - For off the shelf maps and some other features, I think the AP3 is great for the WRXs/STIs/EVOs (along with other vehicles Cobb supports). I have a 2012 EVO and like Grant, the AP was my 1st mod. Although, the AP only supports certain vehicles. So, it's best to find out which programmer is right for your vehicle. If you ever plan on having your ride custom tuned, you should make sure the programmer that you select supports custom tuning. Plus, you should also make sure that your tuner supports that programmer.

Is there any huge benefit to a dino-tune vs an email tune? I just got my tt dino tuned and it ran me 700 dollars, these email tunes look to be around half that price, which makes sense, but do you get half of the performance? Or is it more?

Dino-tunes are 99%-100% accurate. Whereas an email tune can vary in accuracy, being about 85-95%. The way email tunes work, is that the company itself (in this case, Lund). They have a, "test car" at hand that they dyno and use that as a basis for all their customers. By just Dynoing your car in specific will always guaranteed the best possible result. Also some cars don't have a reliable email tuning company (I hear Subbie bros always talk about how their email tunes aren't worth the money, so they just dyno their cars)

Is Lexus and Audi more open to tunes? Or does tuning void these warranties?
