@@sabersz the most logical option. Outside of the US it kinda sucks to like cars since it's so expensive to own them. So I personally would rather have a pretty cool, cheap car that is money efficient, maybe a golf GTi. I'll have that and then for everything else I have games.

I've been turning a wrench for 22 years now, in which time was dedicated to McLaren and working on other exotics. The problem with being a pro is that the line between enthusiasm and career can start to blur. You start to resent the career aspect of it, the enthusiast part of you wants to be in the garage working on your race car, the enthusiast part of you wants to be the next Smokey Nagata, or you want to be on a race track or on a mountain road. This can also have a reverse effect in which your enthusiasm for cars starts to fade, this is what I was talking about earlier when I said the lines start to blur. You no longer look at your project car as something you enjoy working on but rather something that needs to get done, it's another project that isn't finished. Really being a professional is a double edged sword, and as long as you can distinguish your career between your hobby you'll be fine, but I feel like that takes a very great amount of dedication. Just some food for thought for the aspiring professional enthusiast.

I'll probably be an Intermediate in one or two years. Considering something American just for the fun of it. I won't see myself taking it to the race track or The Ring just for the sake of getting my own special laptime, but it's gonna be good enough for a few mods and showing it to other people on events. I've been visiting a few car meets so far and it just really helps to blend in with the crowd. Also cars are just such a flexible hobby, you'll meet all kinds of (actually social) people on events. I always loved that about it.

Corvolet5 Never let some random ass tier list determine your passion for cars, you dont need to do any of the things in the video to become a "veteran" car guy, that just seems like some pseudo gate-keeping bs. If you enjoy cars then approach that passion in any way that you can, there are no tiers in "car-guy'ing". Just do what you want, having passion for it already makes you level with everyone else who does, no one asks you to demonstrate anything, and if anyone does, they arent car-guys, they are just gate keeping self-absorbed assholes (not saying that BA is btw).

I quite literally got taught in my area and regularly talk to the local Honda veterans, they've taught me how to do engine swaps, paint, and I've self taught how to my own upholstery, and basically every single piece of modification is done by myself. I wouldn't know what to consider myself because I attend every show, larger meet, and still have to attend track days (my area does not have any track nearby) so its a tough bracket to put myself in. This is a great video. I've always liked cars (since I was around 2 or 3 naming all the cars in the parking lot) and I've only amassed more and more knowledge over the years. I love immersing myself in automotive news and watching videos involving the mechanics, history, and science of cars. However, for the past few years I've been devoutly committed to cross country and track and I've made so many more connections through that than I have with cars. I still have lots of fun attending a car meet/show every month or so but other than that I'm very distanced from the physical community. It's also hard to think about what car I'll be able to get with my money that still satisfies my parents' concerns for safety, age, insurance cost, etc. Hopefully this gives some deeper perspective of the reasoning behind settling lower on the scale :)

I May not own a car, nor a license but will be getting a car (Probably OG Saab 900 or a Saab 9000) to work on with my dad when we have a garage and then work on his car too (NG Saab 900 Turbo Convertible, he loves that thing and has owned it for 12 years). I got the passion from a young age but I instantly fell in love with cars from a Saab meet 2 years ago which grew a lot. And my grand-grandfather was a teacher who taught students to work on cars, and then my grandfather worked as a mechanic for many years before becoming a teacher like his dad. And my dad isn't a mechanic but has a big interest in cars (I would say that he's a veteran). Which got basically passed down to me. All of us love Saab and then cars in general. But I regularly started attending car meets with my friend and that allowed me to begin to blossom and find my way back up to the amateur state. Currently, I think I'm dipping my toes into the intermediate stage as I got myself an ol Integra and work on it to both save money and get to know my car better. I take it to meets but I'm not sure if I want to modify it for performance or anything like that yet so idk if I'll ever get out of this stage but I'm perfectly comfortable here right now as college and scraping together enough money to survive are my priorites right now.

Brilliant video, gave me pause to reflect on what I truly desire with automotives. For a few years now since my dad's passing I've been contemplating what to do with a car (1975 Toyota Crown, manual RWD 2.6L inline 6) we had planned to build into a custom cruiser with some spirited driving performance mods. Still wanted to build it into what we dreamed for a long time yet now with the craziness going on in the world I've come to accept it's not the right thing to do right now and let someone else create something with it like I have with my old 1978 Chrysler Sigma Scorpion (manual RWD 2L inline 4) - the current owner is a family friend, him and his son are having a blast building it into a rally car. Might come back to a larger project in the future when my life is in a better place. Sometimes we must remove a part of ourselves that we love because it has become a source of stress - feels like it's time to downgrade my enthusiasm of automotives from dreams of a complete build to purely enjoying the driving and ownership experience (maintenance and some modifying included) to make room for my greater dream of helping people with changing themselves through holistic health and psychedelic experiences. Keep up the brilliant work

Lol it all started because I finally gave in to watching initial D and after that it's like it's all I can think about. Even just changing my stock air filter brought me joy. ❤ 🚗

awesome! I'm an intermediate enthusiast! I take my modded mustang to meets and cruises all the time, and my built hummer goes to shows and offroading

Ive dedicated my entire life to cars since birth. I built cars with my grandfather and I think im close to hitting the intermediate phase. I bought my dream car, my first car, a 1978 Ford Thunderbird and now I just have to start getting more involved in car events and getting to know more car people irl. Im so excited for when the snow melts! Youll see me cruising in all my malaise glory!

Happy to be a perma intermediate car guy and probably a fledgling anime watcher. Only watch a couple animes but did thoroughly enjoy tales of zestiria and berseria. Zaveid is a chad

holy shmit i thought i was like at blossoming, but I am actually I was at amateur AT 10 (I'm 14 right now). Bcz I got a sim wheel, hobby of collecting realistic hotwheels, and building 1/24 scale models, go karting once in a while, learning to drive on roads (with my dad's car), and go to car related events (eg.: car meets, one drift event (because in Lithuania there is only a hand full of pro drifters, and only then bmw's and usually one silvie s14 with the boss body kit) and one time accidentally found a night street racing event while just driving with my dad at night). So thank you for letting me know that I'm this far whitout even knowing. Love your vids!! :)

Mentioning other hobbies was an interesting bit in this video. I like tech and gaming just as much-I mean, I did name my cars after F-Zero characters, and I'm learning about tuning software. Good thing I already figured out how to tie all three hobbies together just as you did with Itasha.

I’m working up to becoming a car mechanic and the greatest thing about my school/class. There is little misinformation about anything car related and nobody is stupid enough to place 1 car on a pedestal. Cause if they do they get burned by every. Single. Person in class including the teachers. It’s great!

I'd like to consider myself a veteran. I've been turning wrenches since the 6th grade, learned welding on my own, ran a shop for Benz/beemer/jag and rolls Royce, built a hotrod, did a suspension swap on a fox mustang with my own turbo setups well as teaching myself auto electric. I now own my own business building custom subwoofer enclosures and have my own line of subs. But I still love meeting others with that building passion for custom cars that I had as a kid.

Definitely veteran. Been into cars since I was 5, rebuilt my first car in high school, got into bikes and track days, and bought a cammed G8 to use as my dd/family car. No real interest in fabbing stuff but I'm very good at parts swapping lol.

I am an amateur car enthusiast and I would probably stay there for a long time. I am obsessed with Real Racing 3, reached level 158, (and have been playing it for a decade now) and I love go-karting. I also love driving to college in a manual car and occasionally revving all the way (gas prices hurt irl). The video is very rightly put, as I am still at college now, and I need to focus on my career until I can further advance my car enthusiast stage.

I used to want to go to car meets just for the cars, but now ive realized that almost everyone in this community is super chill and we all respect each other which is nice expecially with all the hate in the world rn. Its nice that we can group up in a parking garage or take over a dicks parking lot and just chill.

im 13 and i know nothing about being a mechanic, but i help my parents buy cars. my stepdad recently bought a 2023 C8 Corvette stingray with the Z51 Performance package. The week after, we took it to a track and "raced" in a non-competetive track day. it was super fun, as we did also get to see our first McLaren Artura. Like I said, i dont even remotely want to be a mechanic, but I love Kart Racing.

This is a really nice benchmark. Cars is so expensive in Indonesia, due to tax and dealer mark up it can add 50 - 100% from original price. GR86 is priced at 30k usd. its cost around 60k here.

Bought a bunch of cars, ended up buying a Lotus Evora 400 and fell in love. Now I want an Atom because I want an even more analog and connected experience. I also run my own back road cruises. It took me 6 years to go from buying my first fast car to being completely obsessed. Also nothing stays stock, not even a little. I also track, maybe only 5 or so times a year. I prefer back road cruising but the track kind of is like crack. I have massive respect for people that do their own wrenching but I don't have the desire to get that good. I know several pros that do exactly what I want and their work is outstanding. I build and fix PCs and have for 15 years. I actually build a lot of PCs for the guys in the car community because they don't want to learn. Its all good, we all pick the stuff we want to get good at.

Dam it's hard to judge myself. In terms of just cars I would say im intermediate, I own 600hp+ car, tuned, etc. But don't go to shows or events or anything. In terms of racing, ive been racing semi-profesionally for years now, from karting to Formula 4 to Euro Nascar, not sure where that would put me. Nonetheless, great video, keep up the good work Bladed :D
