Tuning up a 40+ Year Old Portable Band Saw | Millers Falls Model 9954 | Ingersoll-Rand Model 8099

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My dad has been in the market for a portable metal cutting band saw, and when this one turned up for $10 at a farm auction I couldn't pass it up. It's a Millers Falls Model 9954, which is a rebranded Ingersoll-Rand Model 8099. The patent for this saw was granted in 1971. It looks like this saw was made in the 1970s, and it's had a hard life in a farm workshop.
While this isn't an entire teardown and restoration, I do give the saw a good cleaning, replace a worn out oil seal, and new gearbox oil. It needs new bearings, and the brushes might need to be replaced in a next few years, but it's well worth the $10 I spent on it.
Patent for this saw: patents.google.com/patent/US3...

I have the same saw! same model too. got it a couple years ago on eBay. I actually found this video while looking what it’s worth, as I’ve got two newer and much lighter bandsaws now. but it was fun watching you clean it up. unfortunately now I feel that at the very least I should clean mine up too! 🤣🤣 and you can’t go wrong for 10$! I paid nearly 10xs that if I recall correctly! 😳🙄

My dad's been enjoying the day immensely. Quite solid after cleaning it up.
