Tucker Carlson on The Adam Carolla Show

Комедия

Adam welcomes Tucker Carlson to the studio for a special 1-on-1 podcast. The guys begin their conversation talking about Tucker’s new book, ‘Ship of Fools’. Adam asks Tucker about his Southern California upbringing, which leads to a conversation about how the state has evolved over the last couple decades. They also talk about how their parents got everything wrong, the cycle of outrage that drives the news, and why Adam loves watching Tucker’s show with his family. Other topics of conversation include avoiding victim mentality, debating worthy opponents, and why everyone in Hollywood is miserable.
Later, the guys discuss moving from an ‘agricultural people’ to a ‘digital people’, thoughts on illegal immigration, and Adam’s infamous conversation with Gavin Newsom. As the show wraps up, the guys watch a clip of Adam arguing on HuffPo, and talk about how hard it is to argue with religious people.

Adam is a lot like Norm. He invites folk he likes and let's them know it by being a fan. He's just trying to let someone who he appreciates get to know him. We've all heard these Adam stories a million times. He's like that uncle who tells the same stories to everyone who comes over for dinner. He's just so happy to have Tucker on. He was like a kid wanting to impress a new friend.

It was over an hour long. Tucker had every opportunity to say whatever he wanted. Adam wasn't cutting him off or anything. Adam's just long-winded. It was an interesting conversation but, yeah, on a normal show where you've got the guest for seven minutes and you've been hyping them all week you couldn't pull what Adam just pulled. But I enjoyed it.

Part of me loves how he doesnt give an inch if he disagrrees while another part I feel he is being unfair at times and twisting things a bit. The last week I have watched him debate Cenk at Politicon. Seen him here and also on The Ruben Report. I absolutely love him when he is basically on his own and not under any company. I have gained alot of respect for him this past week when I started to understand his perspective. He is actually very fair with his stance and really wants the best for everyone whether he is right or wrong. Nothing wrong with that.

Not that anyone cares but I grew up on the south side of Chicago listening to Adam and Mad Cow, he definitely has grown into a more relevant talk show host. I grew up with three siblings and my father had a full time job, often working weekends, and my mother worked several jobs, house keeper, care taker for elderly and disabled, etc. We where by no means well off, and actually saw our parents struggle to make ends meat. This was in the 70's-90's. I remember mystery can nights, cans sold at the grocery store without labels for like 5 cents. This taught me many things in my life, always work hard, be grateful for what you have, and nothing comes FREE! I am white and was never handed a silver spoon and never given privilege for my color. My parents spent as much time as they could with us and we are better for it. My life is a great example of how Awesome Capitalism is, you get what you put in. We need to seriously go back to these days without divide, or gender rules, or political correctness, I miss those no seat belt jumping around the back seat days. My thoughts anyways.

That conversation was SO exposing of the lefts hallow platitudes. And liberals can NOT say "well, you were talking to someone who is not all that read up on it" or some other excusing bullshit because for years all the liberals have been saying Gavin is one of their biggest rising stars and he WILL be governor of California soon, and likely will one day be the democrat nominee for president. I don't know much about housing, but there is a definite culture shock. The first winter is goina bust your balls but you learn to adapt. I'm an extreme introvert so I just work and sit at home. I've tried to pursue friendships and hobbies but in such a small town it's not easy. My hobbies are more along the lines of dungeons and dragons and trading card games, most people up here rather fish or hunt. I don't mind it though, as I said I'm an extreme introvert. I just work the night shift at the local hospital and read books or game online. I moved up here at 19 and that was 9 years ago, I've also lived in Washington but that was a lot more similar to my time in California. The people here do not like Californians one bit, but they are far too polite to say it out loud most of the time. They WILL be able to spot yo. After a few years you may be able to blend in, but for the first year or two expect peoples first sentence to you to be "you must be from California". Especially in a college town like mine there is a LOT of us non-Idaho born folks and people expect it.

At around 50mins Adam says he wondered if he would ever be able to afford a home if he continued digging ditches,, don't fool yourself Adam, many of we who started digging ditches when we were teens, learned a craft (concrete construction in my case), learned our trade well, started our own business - it can only happen in America for most of us, built the business very successfully, raised our families (5 kids in my case), sent our kids who wanted to go to college, built and renovated a number of homes and retired comfortably. Soo, don't talk of construction as being a dead end job - it is not. America is a country offering opportunity. What people do with the opportunity afforded us is for each person to do with as they choose.

  • @riseabove3133

    @riseabove3133

John Z - I thought the same thing. I was disappointed in the way Adam referred to his friends who stayed in construction. There are ambitious people & worker bees in every industry. Digging ditches is an entry level position; if you want more $ and more responsibility, the opportunity is there in the construction industry. The great thing about construction is that hands on experience is valued over a college degree. There are plenty of six figure positions in management/sales to smart, hard working people with experience in the field. These guys know how to relate to guys on the site because they’ve been there. At age 30, my family member decided he didn’t want to swing a hammer the rest of his life. He transitioned into an office job in heavy equipment industry and has made an excellent living with benefits, company truck and 401K. With the right work ethic, nothing is a dead end job.

I agree that we live and learn by our mistakes, but listening to some wise advice can short cut a lot of pain. Some people enjoy their painful lives because of the drama and victimhood that goes with an unexamined life. Its funny to hear how Adam Corolla insists he was not influenced by anything and formed only his own personal opinions, perhaps he was deaf. Tucker Carlson laughs and agrees with him that they both grew up in the same situation but that he is a Liberal which is a learned attitude. Ditto says Mr. Corolla. The Constitution teaches people to think and behave in certain ways. Mr. Corolla admits he caters to the Left though and that probably explains the pandering atmosphere. I have watched Tucker demolish the nonsense (to us) on the Left, and yes it sounds very fair to say that these people genuinely believe what they say but he leaves out the fact that, for example, the vegan is probably a rabid activist who spends our money (Welfare payments) and most of his life fanatically trying to stop our farming, our growing meat animals as we have been doing for nigh on 10,000,000 years of experience and adaption. I always enjoy Tucker's intelligent grasp on life. He doesn't sit on the fence very often.

Absolutely loved this interview. I love Tuckers show but it was really nice to see him just talking with Adam on a no script format. I learned a lot about him personally and would live to see more of this style of conversation based interview. Love ya Tucker, your views are insightful, as well as intelligent, keep up the good work.

Now that I'm starting to hear more political voices, one thing is clear: we all massively underestimate or belittle people on "the other side." Joe Rogan doesn't get into arguments with reasonable people, he has discussions. Tucker would have a great time. I loved Bernie for a long time due to the empathy aspect. But I had been misled in my political philosophy, and I was still supporting him when Rogan said he did. We , formerly of the Left, are waking up, and if you think you are a fully awakened being, you are in a dream.

I’m glad you’re waking up my friend, I think we all need to due to the fact that our government really is not our friend. Love him or hate him, Trump really has tried to make a difference in a lot of ways and he’s been fighting for every bit of ground, because everyone knows that he is uncovering all their demons. And believe me, I have my share of issues with the GOP for sure but nowhere near like I do the Democrats and left, Of which the left has gotten so far left, the Democrats are almost unrecognizable. Go back 15 to 20 years and the Democrats would probably be considered Republican today.

  • @realmadrid314

@@stewpittt When I was reminded of how recently the phrase "women and minorities" was acceptable to say about progress, I was shocked by how far the Left had moved. A progressive term back then is a slur now. I realized today at work that the things I hated the most about Conservatives were the things I envied the most. I hated that they made me work for things. I hated that they had pride in their country. I hated their religious nature. I hated the "bigotry," despite some of the deep philosophical questions it raised. I hated guns. But then I was in a position where I had to work or whither. So I worked. And my god do I hate the whining I did before. I thought work was just something extra that rich people made us slave away at, until I imagined living on my own in an unknown land. The amount of stress that suddenly falls on you is tremendous. So it seems that we are building a society with too much of an aim for comfort. We are like weightlifters who never try to beat the other, so we just stay at 100 pounds. When the world drops 300 pounds on our shoulders, we instantly buckle. We have to focus on training ourselves to lift as much as we can, because WHEN the world drops its weight on you, you better hope you can not only bare it, but lift it and make the world from it.

He is very engaging but he home educates all his children. That doesn't speak well to him or society that accepts that as an outcome. I understand Tucker wasn't home schooled so why doesn't he consider why his children cannot have the same?

Tucker, is near genius. Well read, astute times three with UNdeluted logic. Yet, he's in AWE of Adam's purely natural intellect. The reasoning of a FREE man is an awesome thing. I think they will be friends.
