Tube Notching With A Grinder : Fabricating Custom Side Steps Pt 2

In part 2 of this 3 part series, Austin goes over how to notch tubing with a grinder if you don't have access to a tube notching tool. He goes over finding the right angle to cut your miters, making a template for your notches out of paper, then lays out and tacks all the piece up. Make sure to tune back in for part three next week where he will make the mounting brackets and weld them all together.

Receipt paper is a cool trick, I would keep it a little more simplified than the pencil tracing. The black fingers you get from handling the metal pipe would make a quick and easy line, rub your fingers on the paper at the edge of the pipe. Your work is friggen awesome, I wish I had the space and good health to be able to create works of art like you! Thanks for sharing your talent.

6:22 I think this would have been easier to just rub it with your dirty thumb, slightly creasing the paper inwards. The dirt coming off your thumb or fingers will trace the line.
