Музыка
In this video, I unbox and test out the Shift Line Flex, a tube bass preamplifier made in Russia. I share some thoughts and observations and try it out in a song.

That treble cut with the pick sounded great.
Thank you. Finally I see a demo with a normal classic bass character, and not boring metal with distortion. Quite close in character to the B-15 in your comparison, but still they are different. Well, Flex lacks built-in IR.
Thanks for the demo ❤❤❤❤
Two of the coolest channels uniting? Stoked
I've used the Olympic for several years now; love it, engineers love it and the DI/Cab IR options it has makes it incredibly versatile.

In fact, Shift-Line offers a great Bass IR pack for free or donation, would be intrigued to hear the Flex signal through their B-15 IR and see how that compares to your B-15; they sound so close already can only imagine it'd get it even closer.

I also have the Olympic and love it. Lots of compliments on the tone from band members and front of house. It feels great and pairs well with a Cali 76 compressor and Pork and Pickle overdrive.

@@marketheredge6008 Oh yeah! I've got the old school Pork Loin and still love how it sounds with the Olympic or really any rig

Do yall know if shift line will ever restock the olympic? Its really my dream pedal and id love to own one
You made a good choice. I have the Olympic MK3, and they quite sound the same.
Hey Philip, You make really great videos! I learn alot from you, Thnx! I have wonder if you can show us, how you record your bass amp
Неожиданно)) Cool sound from cool pedal
I’d love to see you check out the Shift Line Olympus.
Sounds great! Seems like a nice pedal! (Great alternative pedal: ‘Koch OD’63’. Built in The Netherlands by the great amp builders at Koch Amplifiers: tube/ speaker sim/ DI-out/ pre- and post- preamp effectsloops. A sleeper pedal for bassists for sure!)

Seems more suited to guitar as per the videos I found. In the descriptions for it it that I saw,it doesn't mention bass.Maybe it's the best ever but I own ten different preamps and they're all built for bass or so they say.
That sounded sick!

Thanks for watching!
great video philip.
thanks for the video Phil, so on that run at 5:15 the shiftline seems much more tight, which not sure if it is good in the song, but it seems like it is clipping at lower wave size... did you have some extra compression there? or is it just headroom?
I would like to know about the analyzer you are showing on screen. Seems to me a good way to tell if your sound is lacking and where to make adjustments
Interesting... So how this compares to the Origin Effects Bass Rig Super Vintage ?
Sounds awesome. I feel you had the gain up too high and bass too low in that track you were comparing. So the Ampeg sounded best but I feel you could have made that work as well. Great video.
Have you tried the Night Owl Edison Tube Preamp yet? I have one, you might try it on the next go around. I use mine for gigging.

Not yet. Thanks for the recommendation
Hearing that Keith is making a video on fliptops (or maybe just Ampeg bass amps?) is exciting.

Nice! F
shift line did sound a little bit thinner overall but a truthful sound nonetheless
Very cool demo, but it seems to do things other preamps have already done.
Difference vs Olympic MKIIIs?
Of course I see this right after I bought a Badwater as a DI pedal 😂
Maybe you should raise the volume of your bass sound vs your voice. We could hear better. I think

Thanks for the tip!
fake tube cathode starved circuit? how many plate volts.
@Nebvin

The power input is 12V 500ma. With those power requirements it's probably boosting the voltage up between 200-300V for the plate, similar to a Sushi Box FX pedal. So proper tube voltage.

You are right. I will fix this. I just trimmed that clip from the video; it will be fixed soon. The pedal was made in St Petersburg but the shipping came through Kazakhstan. Thanks.

@@philipconradmusic don't do it man. You did nothing wrong.
Pay no attention to that pesky ones. Pedals made in Russia but shipped thghrou Kazahstan because of sanctions. You don't need a deegree in former Soviet republics to make a video about bass pedal. Everyone is thin-skinned today and offenced by anything. Don't play along with them.
