TTT-001 Canon Selphy CP510 Repair
Ғылым және технология
How to repair a Canon Selphy printer which is only printing out the top half (left side or right side) of the picture. The repair is easily done once opened up. This is for the CP510, but it seems this problem is common to many of the Selphy printers.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial. I bought it at a flea market without knowing if it was still working. Thanks to you I repaired it myself. Greetings from Belgium. Karine
Thanks so much for making this video. I recently pulled out my Selphy CP-760 which until now had been working just fine. After resolving a maddening issue with images not showing in the preview screen, then I found I was getting only half a print as seen in your video. I ended up having to fully disassemble my machine to actually see the split. If someone else goes down this path there's a lever arm on the PCB side of the printer that can rotate to release the metal rod. I ended up using JB Weld and some fine stainless steel safety wire to secure the nylon fitting to the rod. After reassembly, I was VERY disappointed to find it didn't work (blank prints). Took it apart again and made sure the fitting under the PCB was pushed down enough to engage with the drive gear. Success!. Disassembly/assembly the first time took a couple hours. Second time about 15 minutes (many tight ribbon cable connections).
Thanks for this video. Helped me to repair the printer. As I see you prevented a lot kilos of garbage in the world. Good work!
Fixing my CP400 with the help of this video. I hadn't noticed the crack in this plastic part. Super video. Many thanks for uploading it. Save me buying a new printer!
Thank you for this detailed visual repair of the printer head roller problem. I'm not much of a techie but with this, I feel pretty confident in attempting the printer repair instead of throwing out the printer!
thank you! I fixed my cp720 with this. the white part wasn't cracked but it was not stuck on so it wasn't moving with the bar. just some super glue fixed the whole problem! and canon said I'd have to buy a whole new printer and this one would have ended up in a landfill for a one minute fix 😡
Don’t know where you found the super skinny cable tie but even my tiniest is snagging the movement. I will try using some wire instead I think. Thanks for the excellent video tutorial 👍🏼
I recently bought this printer at the thrift store for $6 and it had this problem I just fixed it yesterday and I finally was able to print a perfect picture Thanks for your onsite on how to fix the printer
Many thanks for sharing this fix. I had the same problem but following your video my printer now works perfectly too!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought my printer was finished but it was so easy to give it a new lease of life following your clear guidance :-)
Great tutorial and a sustainable solution indeed (did not have to throw a perfectly good printer). Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in such a clear way. Cheers.
Thanks for the video. We fixed our CP730! Canon Selphy is a great device, still running after all these years, but to let that piece of plastic to ruin the whole product is a disappointment.
Wonderful! It worked with my Canon CP760. I fixed it today. Thank you. Brazil
Thank you so much!! The fix totally worked with my old Selphy CP760. Thanks for sharing, you're awesome!
Thank you for video. I have CP1200 and it was same issue without the split. Gave a little pressure and it printed perfectly. Now to add a tiny drop of oil, hopefully it won’t happen again.
Brilliant! Ran into this problem with a CP710 I bought second hand (broke a CP 740 some years ago). But it printed only half the picture. So I am going to try and fix it! Thanks
thanks man, cp 400 with the same problem, had it for years and love it
Thank you so much! It worked perfect. Me and my daughter fixed our CP710 together.

Good to hear you could fix it, but sad that these printers still have this problem, even in the newest generation ones. That said, I really do love them and the portability they offer.
Tiann- Brilliant! I have a very old CP100 Canon photo printer, and this will fix my identical problem. Thanks!
I wanted to print a Birthday Card today but my Selphy printer showed exactly this failure. I opened it up and yes the right lever had a very fine crack. Unfortunately it was located on the bottom side, so I continued to remove the pcb on the left side and find out that the gear rotates a shaft inside the metal tube. I was able to unhook the tube, remove the lever, superglue it, put it back on, mount the tube, strap a zip-tie and put everything together again. Electronically it worked but mechanically it did not. Something went wrong along the way, but I bet that's just bad handling/luck in my case. I'm not sad bc. its an old Selphy CP 720 which lasted for 15 years and it also had a problem with paper feed, so I guess that piece has reached its end of life. Thanks for the video, interesting and I'm sure many can be fixed.
Thank you!! The solution also works on cp800
Thanks! My Selphy had same problem but cracked on bottom where not visible. Not enough clearance for the zip tie, I had to Dremel a little metal away to make room but now it's back to 99% (still a 1/4" along elge where it's faint).
Thank you, worked perfect !!! only instead of using zip tie, I used steel wire and worked perfectly.
Thanks. Just fixed the same problem on my CP300 only it was on the left under the circuit board so slightly trickier to get access to!
I fixed it by watching your video.. Thanks.
Worked for my CP-510! Thanks a lot!
Thank you. I own the same printer and had the same problem. I will fix it soon. I appreciate.
Fantastic! I repaired my device. Bravo!
Thanks dude! Great video and spot on for my problem, too!
Tried the nylon tie solution, but it too thick. Few loops of copper wire do the job. I used 0,4 mm single wire without insulation of network UTP cable. Also put some glue to fix the wire knot.
Thank you so much from Spain!! Reaaally helpful!!
Thank you for this material that I used in my CP400 and running, I cordially greet!
Buenas tardes, uff yo tengo una Sony y gracias a ti pude detectar la falla, es exactamente la falla que tengo. mil gracias. exelente video
Thanks so much for your professional and clear video !!!!. I have solved this same issue with my CP200, Kind regards....
Excellent! mine is printing the same way. I love your accent ! great job very helpful, cheers!!
Thanks a lot, I am going to repair mine which is also a sefphy cp510 !
👍👍👍Thanks to your instructions, I was able to repair my CP710!!! Thank you very much
Very helpful! if it wasn't because of this video, my printer would be in the rubbish by now :P thanks a lot!
Amazing repair good job merci de la Réunion
Thank you for the video, but which screwdriverblade did you use?
Thanks, I had the same problem on my selphy 530.
Thank you, you saved my printer!
Thank you for the video, I'd like to try but I would like to be sure I use the correct glue. Which one do you suggest? Also: the crack in the plastic is in the bottom part, not visible from the top. How do you suggest to glue it? Thanks!
This worked great for my cp730. There were no space for strap so I just used strong glue. That glue still holds after few printing. Best thanks.

Richard Woodcock I used strong glue from Würth that can glue both metal and plastic. Sold in an small container. Similar from Loctite should do.
Thank you for saving me from having to buy a new printer and saving the printer from going into garbage heap :)
Perfect - thanks for this!
thanks for this super video. i have the same problem. next day´s i will fix my printer. happy new year and greetings from Kassel germany.
SUPER Repair.. Thanks!!!
You do excellent repair on this. Have a CP900 Selphy which a fine vertical line appears on each print out. As read, might be dust. Do you know a way to clean best? Know this video is old, but thought I'd give it a try to ask.
I have a selphy cp900 it goes thru the motions of printing but no pic when it's done! Think this might be the problem ?
YES, dit the job for me too! Great tutorial, dit the job for my 510 too
you are king
Thank you so much! You saved my day =)
Hi Tiaan, I have one as well, but has been in its box for a while. Would you perhaps know why the printer would not switch on? It is brand new. Printed one photo in its lifetime. Lola
I had the same Problem with CP510. Many thanks for this usefull repair hint.
HiI followed your instructions but cannot get the cable tie to be small enough for the bar to still move - it catches on the cable tie! Any suggestions?
Thank you for this!
thanks you! you saved my printer! #RightToRepair
Thank you very much for the help! :)
Thank you, but for my situation, the plastic part didn't break, but if I forced it down when printing, it works at the first time. After the first one, the second one even press it very hard, it's not work.
Very thanks from Ukraine.
100% fixed the problem. How come Canon doesn't address this when they update their equipment? Why use shitty material?
Thank you
Fantastic!!!! Mercy!
Thanks a lot !
Thank you so much!
Same problem, fixed with glue, thks from Holland.
Спасибо, Бро!
I have the cp910 for a couple weeks now and I'm starting to see a white thin line streak across the photo (same place) on every print. I connect the printer via usb. I wonder if this is an early stage of your similar situation. I've tried cleaning the outer rim where you place the paper catridge with alcohol and swabs with no effect. I will try to open it up tomorrow and see where the problem is.

thanks so much- I am certain mine has the same problem as yours did but I need to get home to tools and a zip tie before I confirm!

Remember the super-glue (or crazy-glue) first! The zip-tie is only there to help strengthen the bond until the glue has set. In fact, I completely cut away the zip-tie after a few days. Still working like a charm. Be sure to let the glue run into the crack and maybe press down on the little lever so that the glue runs all the way into the crack.
any ideas for a selphy printer that is printing a think white horizontal line across the middle of every single print? Tried changing ink cartridge.

juli kreichman this is literally happening to me right now. Did you find a solution?
Hi Tiaan. I have exactly same problem with CP600. I'm not being able to remove first 4 screws in the back. May you kindly inform what tool did you use. What kind and size of screw is it ? It is well hidden and its hard to me to match the tool to remove. Many thanks.

SunsetChill you can buy a screwdriver set made specifically for small electronics (like phones). they will be long and very thin. to get a good look at the screw shine a flashlight in the hole!
Спасибо!
Hello, I have a similar problem for my nice CANON Selphy CP720. Do you know anybody who I can send the printer and get it repaired? If I open the printer and push the press on the paper, pictures are printed perfectly. I tried clamping on the shaft with a plastic strap but I was not able to fix it. unfortunately CANON support does not provide any part and any service for this model. Any help?
Thank you so much :)
Thnx! Works!

Hi, Need some Help here. I printed some photo with this Canon Selphy cp510 printer using my laptop. The problem I am facing is, no matter what size I select it's printing SMALL size picture. I selected 4 x 6 inch from the laptop. The Photo paper was 7 x 4 inch But it's printed in the middle like 3 x 2 inch size. Why? I uploaded a video of it in my KZread channel as a Short, please have a look. I am unable to post a link as it will delete this message.
2020. thanks for my selphy printer problem solution. made in china all the same problem.
Thanks from Syria/
I have the same photo printer cp510 - he does not want to take the photo paper , what to do? and how to refill cartridges and where is it ???

If your colour cartridge is used up, the printer will no longer feed any paper and you must get a refill of type KP-36IP or KP-108IN for the Selphy CP510. The refill contains both the paper and the colour transfer cartridge.

Tired of Canon using shit parts in their photo printers. Both of my printers suffer from this same problem (one is much newer than the other).
