It's one of my favorite Korean dishes but it's hard to find near me so I get this! It's not the best compared to what I've had but it's pretty good!

Not sure if you've tried TJ's bao buns, but they're surprisingly good.

I second this. Their cha su bao are very close to those I grew up with in NYC Chinatown. Sadly, I am no longer near any TJ's .
when I make this I always mix the sauce with one I make myself with and it makes it soooo much better and I'm on the same page with the weird spice flavor
I didn't like their kimchi tofu stew, but their tteokbokki, japchae, and hotteok are pretty solid.

yESSS those extra add ons sound delicious 🥹
I use half the sauce and the other half with heavy cream for rose tteokbokki. Less spicy and less sweet 🙌🏼

oooo that sounds delicious! 😮💨
I’ve had their tteboki a couple of times and it’s super sweet for me not enough spice. So, I mix it with buldak noodles packet and omg it gives me the spice and you have a full meal with a side of kimchi!

It looks spicy, but I really want to try it bc I’ve never had it before. Not really into super spicy dishes, but I’ll manage just for the experience. Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to buy it ☺️❤️

But for the price at traders joes you can get like a Costco style big bag of rice cakes in Hmart 😅
Can you recommend any brand for tteokbokki you like?
i make them with my buldak noodles and they’re so much better with buldak sauce 😋
Ur making me hungry
Dang..... My Aldi(Trader Joe's is American Aldi North, in the Country i'm from(Yes, Aldi is split between North and South where i'm from). I actually live in the Southern Area) doesn't have those during Asia Week.

Would you eat it again? 🤔
I've been wanting to try tteokbokki for a while now, is it something like sweet n spicy or uh just spicy? I hate sweet n spicy things ☠️☠️

it depends on the tteokbokki but it has a slight sweetness to it and is definitely spicy!
im not korean and I give it 8.5/10 I made it how the instructions said too
sassy ahh mhm😂
The sauce tastes like pepper. It was disgusting and impossible to eat….

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought this! I was convinced that I must have made it wrong- It tasted like diluted tomato sauce to me, so I just ended up rinsing it off and making my own tteokbokki sauce-
@booboojt1756

I agreed! It tasted really bad. I don’t know how lots of people like it. The taste wasn’t close to the actual one. I usually say that I can eat everything, but this one is too bad to eat. I tasted the sauce and threw it away. The plain rice cake itself tasted better.
Noice 🤤🤤🤤

@@AvecAnes Yes! And it was on the sweeter side as well, which don’t get me wrong I love sweet and spicy tteokboki but this one.. just wasn’t it

I tried the tbokki and it was too sweet for me. It’s the only kind I’ve ever had though so maybe it’s supposed to be so sweet?

not really, it’s a bit hard to describe the taste but it should have a bit of sweetness and umami
I had tried these and they were disgusting and the sauce tasted sweet!!
I have always wanted to try korean food but alot of popular Foods have lots of meat in Them, and since im a vegetarian (hve been my whole life, for religious reasons) i was wondering if ttekboki has any meat in them? (It might be obvious, sincr i have no actual clue about korean foods) and if you can, can you recommend any korean foods that dont have any meat or meat oils please? Thank you😊
@AvecAnes

ooo that's a great question - tteokbokki usually has fish cakes and the broth is often made of dried anchovies too. if you're making korean food at home, there's lots of recipes you can make without meat and still tastes great :) like bibimbap, kimbap, soondubu, korean vegetable pancakes and so on!

Thank you so much!! This will be helpful!! And also another question- I have always wanted to try kimichi, but i heard it has fish oil in it. Can you get it without fish oil/ any other animal products (if there is)? Thanks again😊
You insulted me
I had that teokbokti. I don't get the appeal. I don't like the rice cakes or the sauce. If I was starving to death I might eat it... But I might not.
The tofu kimchi soup isn’t good..
