I feel like letting your kids see the entire circle of life helps them grow and appreciate the value of life wether it’s human or not. Something that doesn’t seem too apparent in today’s society. Death is an unfortunate part of life but owning animals and having to bury a few as a kid after growing up with them is what made it easier to accept the death of family and friends. Still never gets easy but having a little experience helps a lot so you don’t crumble mentally when it matters. Much love and thank you for being an amazing father and husband

Yup! The look in her eyes seeing the lamb injured (within an inch of it's life). Her interactions with Demo, etc. I could definitely see Addie becoming a vet.

So sad about the lamb. At least it didn’t die wet and cold in a field and it passed warm in a home being cared for

If Matt were to make a new intro I would hope that he’d include both Mere’s last laugh from this video and the clip of her playing with the low rider Chevy Impala.

I love the dog sitting by the kids, he's like if you watches, I watches.... that baby had her best chance with you. All you can do is your best, which you did!

Best thing I’ve ever found to warm lambs up is wrap them in a blanket, put them in a box, close the box, and stick a hair dryer in it. It’s brought lambs back for almost death over the past 10 years. Found newborns in January in single digits almost frozen to the ground and brought them back. Once they start to blah take them out.

Watching these past few family oriented videos makes me appreciate how i've watched matt's kids grow up and feel like part of the family, even though i'm not.

Annie's face when she clocked the lamb. Priceless then Maddi too did the same Oooh face. Couldn't see Lincoln face but sure he aawed it too. Good luck lamby

The Dorper sheep, which that one appeared to be, make good pets as they tend to be friendly and do not require shearing. Like goats, they will keep brush and weeds down around the new place.

She deserves a name, in memory. I dub her, "Lamb of the free, home of the brave". 2021-2021. Rest in peace. :(

I was afraid she wasn’t going to make it. 😢 She had so much against her. Thank you for trying and at least she didn’t pass in a cold field alone. Now I’m worried about her momma.

I’m glad the little one didn’t die alone in a field and had a great family comfort her to the end. Thanks to the guy who found her and brought her to Matt.

You aren't complaining just explaining. For the little lamb you did what you could for the little girl. Thank you for trying Dr. Matt! 😍

One good thing about moving - it's also a great time to organize and consolidate stuff, especially in the garage. And remember - getting rid of stuff doesn't mean sending it to the trash bin if someone else can use it. And RIP little lamb! :-(

Matt you should get a log splitter with all the trees you're taking down. You would have a surplus fire wood for your fire pit or just burning in general.

When a Lamb put the head at the side as it did when you lifted her up, its sadly usually to late. Learning after I grown up at a large Lamb farm.

Great job dealing with the frustration of supply delays! And we miss you on Vet Ranch.

Its touching to see just how compassionate your whole family is, love what you guys do !

Matt, I really missed you guys going to the Dominicans and doing spays and neuters. I think if you do it now when the kids are older, they will have a whole new appreciation for volunteering and working hard for a cause.

I looked up to you Dr. Matt back in Vet school, graduated last year. You should visit Kenya sometime.

We had a very similar issue with a calf once, same outcome. It was hard when I just couldn’t do anything about it. A sheep farmer once told me that sheep are the only animals on earth that are determined to die for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Love seeing you do some vet stuff again. So sorry it didn't make it. I lost calves to scours several years ago. It's always sad when you try to save them and they don't make it.

Paisano's Roost Farm (American Blackbelly sheep) in Southern New Mexico: if momma abandoned it, there is usually a good reason. I had a ram lamb twin in 2017 that was abandoned by mom. I bottlefed him and adopted him to a good home without a guarantee on his future health. A year later, his owners called to let me know he had the genetic fault for the horns growing into the neck. The ewe while she had perfect confirmation tended to throw problems : her first lamb, a ewe had breathing issues. Never feed a cold Lamb. Always wait till its rewarmed.

We've been raising sheep for the last year and a half, and last spring one of our ewes had stillborns. Poor girl cried for hours and hours, it was heartbreaking.

Anyone else feel like Matt was in his element doing his vet stuff? I really enjoyed seeing it.

you guys should get a couple cheap tool carts from harbor freight, and they can put the orders in the cart rather then be carrying them while picking

Doesn’t look like the aisles are wide enough. I thought about grocery store baskets. The carts could be left in the main aisle. Hope their software relieves inventory. I should just apply to work there 😊

Matt - get a Pod and hire a company to get your barn packed. You literally have as much stuff in your barn as you have in your house. I'm sorry about the lamb.

Hard to tell kids about death, even if it's not the first time. Way to keep a brave face and a strong heart man.

6 months ago when I lived in a large city, I would have found this to be something new, how to treat a large animal... Now i work in a cow farm in the middle of nowhere Norway with -30 C and this stuff is something I do on a daily basis 🤣 And yeah, the fact she was stiff was a tell-tell sign that she won't make it. It's sad, but happens from time to time

Good to see you put the effort in, one thing I would have tried is putting the blankets in the dryer to warm them up first. Also, putting the lamb and heater in a small room would have kept it warmer.

For your shop move, use a Pod container or some brand like it. You can put your shelves and rack and benches right in it. Then keep then at whichever property you like at the time.

Good on ya for trying to save the little cutie. You gave it the best shot it had, and gave it love and kindness till the end. The best any of us can hope for.

As someone born and raised in WI I know that look on Matt's face @2:43 when the town/city's name is too hard to pronounce. I felt that.

Meredith had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb…. I bet this would have been a “Don’t Tell Matt” moment had he not been there. 😁

Hi Matt, great to see your family, little Insannie is my favourite kid of yours, but they are all terrific kids. You must be proud.

Good thing you're a doctor-ish A few years ago we got some baby pigs, like newborns that their mother was killed in a trap and she gave birth in the trap. They never got their first milk/colostrum from her. We tried absolutely everything we could. Some died that day, some the next and over the next week they all died. It was sad. But yeah thats just life on a farm. Stuff just dies and there's nothing that can change that. Also you could totally fence off a lot of your property and let goats and stuff roam free. I always loved seeing lots of goats running free on hill country ranches

ha ha ha, "fence off a lot of your property and let goats and stuff roam free." clearly, you haven't ever actually done that. The sheep don't give a shit about your fence. I haven't had goats, but I'd guess they feel the same. Plan on hiking into the woods at least 3 times every year to herd the pricks back inside the fence. Also, storing up hay and grain every summer to feed em over the winter. Yeah, that takes some time. Sheering the sheep every spring... Worming the sheep 3? 4? ( I forget. TOO OFTEN ) times a year... REALLY fun when they barf up the worming medicine!!! DEALING WITH BIRTHING... Cripes, I'm not even going that... Shoveling sheep manure 4 times a year!!!! Oh Yeah, you think you've smelled ammonia? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA My FAVorite, lol Christ, we'll never see Matt again.... Or, he'll be shooting the sheep, and we'll STILL never see Matt again. NO GODDAMN SHEEP Matt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, he is mainly a dog and cat vet. Legally he can basically work on any animal. But his experience is mainly dogs and cats.

@@parley1994 They are still taught livestock care when in vet school. When they get out of vet school is when they partner up with other vets to get more education on them if it's the route they choose. They even learn how to care for wild animals.

Cudos to you and Mere for posting about the lamb even though it didn't make it. Glad you tried and shared with us.

That was a great video. Helps me remember growing up with little goats who would die and we'd all be sad. But yeah! Ranch life!

I loved watching Dr.Pol on tv. He would take care of every animal. I couldn’t be a veterinarian. I get too emotional seeing a helpless animal.

Now is the time to sort and organize and liquidate all the stuff you dont need and or can free up! youll be AMAZED how much organizing and categorizing stuff can help and how much of a tighter area itll go in and how much easier itll be to find stuff

Barn stuff suggestion. Would suggest you box, palletize, and shrink-wrap your barn stuff it would make it easier to load, move to container, and then move to barn. Just an idea for moving all that magnificent stuff :)
