Trying to FLY my drone in DA NANG, VIETNAM

An attempt to film the city didn't go well - I simply couldn't fly my drone!
On the bright side, I managed to film the rest!
In this video you'll see the magnificent city of Da Nang, its beaches and main attractions such as Ba Na Hills entertainment park, Linh Ung Pagoda and the Marble Mountains.
Lots of great shots and interesting facts.

    Oh glad to hear that things went smoothly! Vietnam in some cases is quite a lot about “doing and accepting things that make sense”. So like with a drone if it doesn’t endanger anyone and doesn’t annoy anyone most of the time no one will really care!

    Just stumbled across this. I went to Vietnam in Sep of 2022 and carried my drone with me. I got a little bit of confrontation with security at Da Nang airport when they saw my drone in my backpack. I told them I was aware of the drone "rules" in Vietnam and promised I wouldn't fly until I was in compliance with the law. That seemed to smooth his feathers. That, and the fact that my Vietnamese wife was with me and he got some "coffee money". I think it was all for show. Once we got to my sister n law's place, which is in the countryside, I was able to fly pretty much anywhere. Here is some drone footage of the nearby country where we stayed. Going back again in Feb 2024 and will probably be a little bit more adventurous. I was a bit paranoid flying in a foreign country and knowing how things work in Vietnam. I think Vietnam is one of the most beautiful countries to visit and I can't wait to see more of the country. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aa2Kytqyp6-dmNo.htmlsi=-Ys8XyQLurd_4YNh

    Nice shots man! Yeah I've flown my drone in a number of places now, Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Ninh Binh, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Nha Trang, Da Lat and others. Generally I've never had any problems about my drone. Sometimes some guys wouldn't want me to fly their drones around their proterty/temples. Vin Pearl seems to have a rather strict rule about drone flying and wouldn't allow them on their premises. But generally it's been a smooth sailing!

  • @alrightanton

    @alrightanton

    I used the DJI Fly app. You can use it to look through the map and see which zone are o good for flying, they are usually colour coded. DJI mini 3 pro is a small size drone so should be good for flying in Vietnam. There’s a very vague regulation of flying in and out. So far I haven’t heard about anybody getting their drone confiscated at the border. But it’s Vietnam things can be quite unpredictable here.

  • @alrightanton

    @alrightanton

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Carl, no I didn’t have a permit. I did a brief research of it and as it looks Vietnam doesn’t really do drone licenses yet. They have a special daily drone permit which I think costs about 300$ per day but that as far as I understood it is for commercial shooting for big companies, I imagine film companies would do that. While for amateurs the rule of thumb would be to fly safe, not disturb the people, you know the common sense things. There’re also flight restrictions near airports and government buildings but that’s like as everywhere. I’ve seen comments to this video that if you ride past lady Buddha deeper into that peninsula you wouldn’t be able to fly your drone anymore because there’s like a military outpost there. But that’s way far away from the temple.

    Most European tourists say Bana Hills destroyed the natural beauty or a weird copy of medieval French architecture. In fact, the owner did hire French architects to draw the plan and the style. The hills are not built to target European tourists. Not all Asian tourists have the patience to go through interviews for visas to Europe and Europe is an expensive destination. In the last 10 years, European and North American tourists count less than 8% of international tourists to Vietnam. Before Covid, 18 million tourists visited Vietnam in 2019. Bana Hills has been a successful tourist destination since its opening and 98% of international tourists who visit Bana Hills are Asian tourists. More French castles style have been built and are near completion proving the owner's business plan is a success.

    @Mogens Sommer I am not sure whether you are aware of how the things work in Vietnam. I'm 100% for legal activity, though unfortunately in Vietnam being fully legal does not help. Like I followed a decent citizen principle and did a motorbike license there, even though not that many people do it. And the resutl? If police wants a bribe they will get it. I've been stopped several tiimes and they'd come up with any ridiculous reason just to get a bribe. Same thing with drone footage. It will change and imrpove at some point in the future, but right now, it's not really doable. I'd be happy if it was done in the same manner as in America - want to fly a drone - get a license, I'd be first to sign up.

    Hahaha well comparing Roman architecture to Vin corporation creativity is a bit of a stretch😂😂😂 I have no objections about genuine and authentic architecture that happens to incorporate styles of other countries, I’m fine with that. Like city centre of Hanoi with all that old French architecture looks marvelous. The other things is when a corporation decides to copy style of another country just for the profit purposes. Not saying tit is bad, everyone needs to earn money. But that certainly does not attract me. Same as if my government decided to build a Vietnamese village. I don’t think I’d be interested in that either.

    If you intend to fly a drone you should obtain a license which will inform you of the rules. You should not fly a drone within 5 km of any airport! Same applies to a motorcycle license without one you are not insured! I am just flew into Danang with my drone without comment from customs. I would be careful of offering to pay any official as bribery is a very serious offence!

  • @alrightanton

    I own a motorbike incense which didn’t stop the local police from demanding a bribe. Not gonna go into details but yeah, owning official docs in Vietnam doesn’t always mean that no one will try to get something from you. With airports the drone app won’t let you take off any near of them. Maybe with a side app you could do that but I wouldn’t recommend that especially in the restricted areas. But did you end up obtaining that license?
