Pratima ji, it could be difference from place to place but I used to add other vegetables in gundruk like pumpkin, bottleguard etc. And correct way is to bury it in cow/buffalo dung and dry it after few days 😀.

To be precise 'Gundruk' is the fermented radish leaves. We mostly make it out of green leafy vegetables and the alcohol thing it is made out of either Rice or Millet that is widely prepared in the village and hilly parts. It is not sold fully for commercial purpose. It is to honour the guests during marriage ceremony and festivals. It is taken as token of love and the respect gesture towards the guest. And the word Chhoila it isn't pronounced (च ) it's छ (छोइला) . Thankyou so much Team Urban for this incredible video. Lots of love from 🇳🇵 Keep growing.

We make two different kinds of alcoholic beverages here. The first one is fermented wine and the second one is distilled alcohol. Different grains i.e rice, wheat, barley, buckwheat and some fruits like plump, apple, grapes are used to make wine and alcohol. A lot of eastern nepalese make buckwheat alcohol. Western and southern nepalese make rice alcohol and northern people make alcohol from apples, buckwheat and barley...... In conclusion, fermentation is the way of living life for nepalese cuz we have a lot of fermented foods and beverages u can ever imagine of😘
