trying new hobbies in my 20s
Hobbies are so important for my mental health & I've not been prioritizing them in the last few years as I should be. BUT NO LONGER! This week, I'm trying out 3 hobbies -- 2 new and 1 rediscovered :)
⇨ taking a wheel-throwing pottery class, painting ceramics, and learning how to crochet coasters! LMK if you'd like to see more episodes with more hobbies because I'm having THE time of my life.

Already planning it ✍🏼✍🏼
This video made me so happy. I always love seeing people enjoy their hobbies and not only focus on the things that they HAVE to do. Our hobbies are a part of who we are and I know how most people ask "what is your job" but I prefer the question "what hobbies do you have, what do you enjoy doing in your free time" 💌
when you crochet, the ends can be weaved in! use the yarn/darning needle and sew the ends throughout the stitches! it's just called weaving in the ends if you want to find a youtube video! you should do it with both of the ends, its safer than knotting, especially if you wash them! it makes them invisible
@HannahElise

Oh wow so that’s what the yarn needle is for 😂😂😭 thank you sm I will be doing this from now on
Yes!! Make this a series where you try new hobbies 🩵 it can be crafts and who knows maybe it can turn into pickleball, pilates, yoga ect!
My best ever tip I’ve received while my wheel throwing class: Push your elbows into your hip/belly and kind of thinking like PUSHING the clay away from you. This has the effect, that your arms and the clay is not wobbling around and therefore you get uniform clay items + you’ll have more control. Hope this helps and lots of fun!!! ❤
omg i already know this is going to become my fav comfort series 🌟💕🥹 can't wait for more of these

🥹🥹 I’m so excited
We need a series of you trying new crafty things, and I being crocheting for years and I’m still struggling with some basic things so you got this girl 🙌🏼 and everyone says that you think you know how to count until you started crocheting 😭
"I'm a real one." who is sitting admiring a cosy afghan I crocheted for the sofa here ... idea for a cosy up reading on a chilly day ...
my gawd, I relate to this so much. I was such a hobby girl in my early 20s and used to paint, write and play instruments. Then I graduated from college, got a job and that was it. Life happened. I forgot what it was like to do things for the soul and truly enjoy them. Thank you for being so relatable
Hannah, I can't state the comfort that your videos bring me. As someone in their early 20s who feels like they have everything (and therefore nothing specific) in front of them, your wholesome candor for life and taking things one step at a time is so refreshing. Your videos are the one part of my self-care routine that NEVER gets skipped. Cheers to you! Thank you.
Okay! I’ve got a master’s in ceramics & YOU ARE GOOD AT IT! LOL noooo one usually is able to make ANYTHING their first time at the wheel & you got it in your third try!! You have a natural talent for the wheel girly pop! ❤🎉
Girl, I'm only two minutes in and I already adore this video! Go craft girliessssssss!

Hi Hannah Elise!❤❤❤ In my 20's, one of my favorite hobbies are reading books, creative writing, art, drawing, listening to music, puzzles and taking walks. I think painting a canvas could be my new hobby.🎨🎨💜 Enjoy your pottery class!❤❤

Omg I used to LOVE doing Bob Ross paintings on canvas. You’ve got a great list!! Never stop ❤
HANNAH this is crazy telepathic but i just signed up for this pottery classes a few days. i’m glad we’re doing this for ourselves this year and pursuing our hobbies. life is too short to stop learning, even in our 20s i feel excited about the boundless opportunities in life!
Crochet has been one of my hobbies since late 2023! It’s so fun and there’s so much you can make
girl, can we talk about your editing skills, like? PLEASE. 😩

THANK YOU 🥺
Where the holes are bigger on your crochet is where you increased it (put two into the same stitch). Honestly its better that they are like that because it means you aren't crocheting too tight. If you want them small, you crochet tighter... but that makes it harder. You did so well for your first time!!!
Literally crocheting a hat for my nephew as I watch this! You did great on your coaster, it always takes a long time as a beginner. My first granny square took me 5 hours!! I’ve been crocheting for a little over a year now and I’ve made several pieces of clothes and gifts. It gets super easy!!!
it’s so amazing to watch someone else be a beginner too. you’re so right, hannah, it can be really scary being a beginner, but it’s so reassuring to know we’re all in the same boat. i’ve been crocheting for 10 years and it’s one of my biggest sources of joy! so glad you got into it!
I want to crochet, but it seems so intimidating 😂 I’ve been a knitter for years, so you would think there would be some intuition there.. but no ❤ And the concentration is so true!! Just knitting in the round is so mindless 😂 My new hobby this year was spinning fibre! I got a drop spindle this winter and love being able to spin up some yarn and then make something else from that! Plus, it stretches my hobby budget 😋
omg i love seeing people joining in on my favourite hobbies (mainly crochet and reading)!!!!! i'd recommend using bright coloured yarn for crochet when you're first starting out (definitely not black) and acrylic is ok for coasters if you are not putting super hot drinks on it. i saw someone else comment about weaving in the ends, which is recommended, but other than that you're doing so well for crocheting for the first time!! the basics and figuring out how to simply hold the yarn and hook is the hardest part - it only gets better from here!
YESSS PLEASE WE NEED A SERIES FOR YOUR HOBBIES REALLY LOVE TO SEE IT ❤
was eagerly waitingggg...your videos are like therapy, they are so relaxing.. i love you
LOVE this new series!!
Those crochet coasters you bought before are just granny squares which are actually super easy to do!! My first crochet project I did granny squares and they’re super fun- you can make a bunch of them and connect them into a big blanket or just have them separate as coasters :)
"I'm a real one" Loving that you pushed yourself to do so many different things! Soon you will be an expert...hopefully!

I went to college and got my bachelors in studio art. I taught art to kids mostly and adults when I graduated in 2017. KZread helped me practice different techniques for ceramics because I was always a drawer, graphic designer, or painter until I decided to talk ceramics. I made a piece inspired by Judy Chicago for my senior portfolio presentation in our art gallery. I taught myself how to do chattering and create nesting flower bowls and teapots. Even created my own glaze. It was a great hobby and therapeutic. I hope you continue to learn cause it gets easier the more you practice and get inspired with ideas of things you want to create.
Hey Hannah, Happy Sunday! I’m happy that you’re trying new things. As always you’re the real one 🙂

Yes please make a part 2 and even more!!!
You are in one of the best places in the world for yarn stores! Look some up-the yarn is better than at the craft store and the help you’ll get is out of this world. Lots of local yarn stores also have classes for crochet and for knitting. I’m making myself a knitted tee while I’m watching this video.
