RUNNING THE BROOKLYN HALF MARATHON *what actually happened on race day*
You know I couldn't make a race day vlog without adding the most dramatic music!! In this vlog I take you through the couple days leading up to running the RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon all the way through race day and post-race reflections. The running content will definitely slow down from here because my body needs a break! If you're new here, my name's Chelsea, I'm 32 living alone in New York City. If you enjoy what you see, consider subscribing to join the fam! 💘
The race I ran was the RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 18th.

Hi Friends! You KNOW I had to add the most dramatic music possible for this video!! hehe. Thank you so much for your support on this half marathon journey 💘 ALSO, wow thank you for all the hype for my haircut in last week's video. I couldn't believe the amount of comments there were in support.... so it's safe to say that the short hair is here to stay. Love ya, have a great long weekend!

2hours and 11 min including all the "problems" along the way is an amazing time !! fabulous and congratulations of finishing the halfmarathon!
I got teary eyed and full body chills when you crossed the finish line - you should be so damn proud of yourself!!
Hi Chelsea, Ive had hypothyroid, Hashimotos for almost 39 years. intense exercise really disrupts my body. I only wished I had listened to my body more in my younger days, Id not be having all the issues in this life stage. however, I have more than one autoimmune disease. All my specialty doctors have told me that once you acquire one you will be guaranteed more. listen to your body. do what feels right. don't let your ego get in your way of health. Did that and paid for it. I suffer with disruptive sleep and extreme fatigue. I still live my life to the best of my capabilities. I have a 4 year old grandson who loves his grandma and wants to do all the things I did with his brothers. Hiking, running, camping etc. I told the nugget, grandma was much younger then🤣 he told me that I wasn't old....gotta love them littles. give yourself grace. you did great young lady💜
I'm bringing over some tea and tissues - last time I watched a race day vlog from Chelsea, I cried like a baby 😅 Currently lying in bed and trying to overcome a brutal cold. Although I'm just an average runner, I live for this type of content. So happy & proud of you, Chelsea! ❤🔥

Great job! I just started watching these running vlogs as motivation. I am not a runner, but have a goal of focusing on walking for fitness/wellness. Diane in Denmark on her KZread channel usually does Friday videos in which she gives four self-care assignments one can choose from and one week she mentioned a new fitness activity. I only having been walking two times a week. So I could set a goal of walking a 5K. Great reflection, Morgan Harper Nichols has an affirmation that says "I am creating space for both gentleness and strength." So, thank you for the reminder to take care of ourselves!
I had a LOT of poop and others IG issues with gels on half or full marathons when those sport gels became popular sources of energy to consume on race day or training. In fact, my stomach wasn’t happy with them. So… You know what? I have simply returned on more natural sources of sugar and salt: homemade dense cooked rice balls (sometime with a small caramel square inside!), coated with sugar and salt, that I wrap individually. And only water during the race. No Gatorade (it’s too much sugar). I had no more IG issues since. In fact, too much concentrated sugar (gels, Gatorade, for example) is the #1 reason for IG problems on the race. Congrats for your new PB!
Congratulations!! It's so nice to have a goal time, but it's also so important to take note if the time goal causes you more stress than motivation! And also! If anyone reading has never been a race day volunteer - do it! It's such a heartwarming experience no matter where you help out!
So proud of you Chelsea! That’s a great PR!! Watching you race made me tear up especially at the end and I wasn’t even there lol. But the energy from the crowd and hearing people yell for you is awesome. 👏🏼 👏🏼
Why am I crying?! I'm only at the part of the video where you finished and I am so proud of you! I am not a runner at all, but I understand all the work that goes into running a race like that. How awesome that you have this series of videos to look back and remember what you did to prepare and how you kicked butt!
Hi Chelsea, as someone also in their early 30s navigating through life I want to say you are such an inspiration and it is so humbling to know you are representing us on the internet. So thank you!

Hi Chelsea!! 🙋🏻♀️I am SOOOO proud of you!! You smashed this!! I have never run like this in my life (I'm guessing running 🏃🏻♀️ for the bus doesn't count 🤫🤭🤣🤣), but to me you trained hard, showed up, dealt with everything thrown at you, and still came out 15 minutes earlier....that's incredible!! You are such an inspiration ✨️ thank you for taking us along with you. ❤
proud of you Chelsea!!! you're an inspo of what dedication , consistency, and drive can achieve!!
I had a smile on face the entire time while watching your video. Congratulations on the run, you did it, despite all "difficulties* you made till the end and that's awesome. We learn and grow with every accomplishment, every goal, and from all that it takes to make things happen (or not) everything is a lesson to learn and watching you reflecting on the past weeks proves it and shows how much you have learned throughout the process. I've said it before and I say it again: you are amazing! Have a wonderful, long weekend! Greetings from Germany !🤍
I love it when a video makes me smile, all the way through. Congratulations Chelsea🙌🏾 Continued blessings and abundance in all things good and great🙏🏿

I'm so proud of you!!!! You're inspiring me to get started for my next half marathon training today!! And def gonna try to do this race next year because this video made me realize that the start is right by my house lol
Your pr increase, in my eyes, is absolutely significant - Congratulations! I don't have hypothyroidism, but I do have an invisible chronic illness that greatly affects my stomach and energy levels on a daily basis, so I feel ya. The fact that you do the training, nutrition and these marathons, is wild and awesome. The last bit where you take us through your race, you are absolutely glowing and so beautiful! You have a strong drive - can't wait to see what's next!
I'm so proud of you!!! I'm really happy, I got excited watching the video as if it was me running the half marathon. I'm 25 and I started running this year and you really inspire me, thank you so much!!
Congrats on a great race and a huge PR! I don't think anyone here is judging you by your times, don't worry about us. :) You posted at the best time possible. I just got back from biking, watched your video and am going to throw a gel down the hatch and go for my run now. My warmup tri for the season is next weekend, woohoo!
Hi Chelsea! So proud of you! You did great! You showed up and you finished! Love that you are able to give yourself grace and analyze what you can do better for the next one. What a champ you are! Rest and take care! As always, thank you for sharing!
You did it, Chels! You did it! 👏👏👏❤️
Proud of you chelsea , you did great . I'm cheering you on from my couch. . The training paid off .

Congratulations Chelsea I'm so impressed with the time you did! I got a little teary-eyed watching this, I am just so happy for you. We watched you train for this for so long. On that Saturday I was sitting there in my timezone thinking about how you were running right in that moment and I was cheering you on from afar! You should be so proud
🎉🎉Congratulations, Chelsea!! I'm so proud of you and happy for you-you're PR 👏 I heard people calling your name and I saw you smile. That moment made me cry😢 I now see how those cheers carry you through. I will cheer you on virtually from Cali at every race 🤗
It was so fun cheering u on can't wait to watch this later congratulations
Congratulations, you absolutely crushed it & have so much to be proud of! Big kudos!
You are such an inspiration, in so many ways! Congratulations, Chelsea, job well done! 🌹
Oh perioddddd you did that girl! Congrats🥳
Honestly tearing up watching this! You should be so proud of yourself, thank you for sharing your journey with us ❤️
Congrats Chelsea, great job on giving it your all and finishing strong! I was in the running zone a decade ago where I ran the Detroit-Windsor International half marathon (we run over the international bridge going over to Canada and through the stuffy overheated international tunnel coming back to the USA) 4 years in a row. And you guessed it, my best year my time was one minute over from being a sub-two-hour run, haha! Looking back with a decade's hindsight, every single year's run was as valuable as the PR one just for getting out there and like Nike says, "just do it." Happy trails to all runners because you get to learn something about yourself along the way while having a unique experience!
You had me tearing up on your run. I got emotional watching how focused you were on reaching your goal, and young lady, you did achieve it! Take care of your physical and mental health, and continue to be the humble and unique person who keeps us on our toes. Love you❤❤.
I have recently started running because I got inspired by you. At the beginning I wasn't so sure about it but I realized it did not only improve my physical but especially my mental health. and even though I am nowhere near being able to run a half marathon, it is a goal I have in mind for the future. Thank you for inspiring me to try something new. I am looking forward to your future running videos. Great job on your race ❤

Girl! So close to 100k!!! And no matter what, you trained and committed to running this- so in my book, that’s amazing enough! No matter what the outcome, you did awesome! And any minutes shaved off the other race is fantastic!
Yes, Chelsea! Hearing your reflections on your run is powerful! I didn't beat my goal during my 10K either the beginning of May. We grow and we learn. Letting go of tour expectations is huge. Great video and great race! ❤
Way to go Chelsea! You're a beast and should be super proud of your time! What an accomplishment
I love how honest you are about where you're at and how you're doing, even when it's not "pretty." I am not allowed to run, but when you were approaching the finish line and crossing it I got so emotional. I don't know the feeling of overcoming that type of physical exertion, but I know the feeling of working hard and pushing through to get to a goal and I'm so proud of you for fighting past your demons to achieve a really impressive results. I can't wait to see what you set your sights on next
YOU DID IT! So proud of you Chelsea! 🎉
Your running content makes me so emotional. I used to run but stopped due to an injury. Proud of you!!!
I came across your channel a couple of weeks ago and have binge-watched your videos from when you moved to your current apartment to this one. Your videos are so engaging, and when you finished the half-marathon, I got a tear in my eye. Good for you for pushing through even though you weren't feeling your best. I look forward to seeing what you do next. 😊
I was in NYC on race day for a friends birthday (from MA), and I was thinking about you! You are amazing and should feel SO PROUD! Thank you for sharing your journey.♥️

Hey Chelsea, congratulations on completing the marathon the half marathon. I have to say watching your videos has actually inspired me to take more of an interest in my sister‘s runs. She’s been running 5K and half marathons and all kinds of stuff for years and I never kind of got it like I didn’t understand. It was just a race for me and I was like oh congratulations to her, but I never realized all the work you guys put in, so I have to thank you for helping me build a better bond with my sister because now I I understand more when she’s talking so congrats to you thank you and I’ll be cheering for you

Hi Chelsea! Congratulations on running your half and your amazing time - job well done! You can do hard things - and I believe your sub 2 goal is within reach. But more importantly the fact that you gave yourself grace and kindness when it was not met is so incredibly important ❤
Gooood jooooob Chelsea!! Your half was at the same time when mine was, except i am in Europe (Latvia). It was a really hot day and some people even passed out and i saw a couple of ambulances.. that was a bit chiling to see so i went slower than i originally thought i should be going. Didn't want to risk it as i didn't practice running in hot weather. It was a well organised event and there was a lot of water stations and stuff though. It was my first half marathon and my time was suuuuper slow, but doesn't matter i freaking did it!!! What an adventure! Now i have another half in September, and i know that i need to get more serious about my training routine. I know i wasn't always 100% into it and i didn't do my best, but i did it anyway.. Either way, definitely here for the running content, go Chelsea!! I loved being able to get motivated together!
ugh SO PROUD OF YOU!! this is huge. and the new running camera angle goes crazy!!
So proud of you, Chelsea. You are an inspiration!!
So stinking proud of you- you did it and inspire me so much!!
