This is a great idea, I remember doing handprints with my grand-daughter, it’s so precious years later, to have them. I didn’t have a Gelli plate then but, I want to do my own hand while it can still go flat! I only have one that will because I have a hand condition that causes them to curl under. Very inspirational video!💕🇨🇦

So glad that you enjoyed the video and are inspired by it Cindy! Perhaps you could even make some kind of print with your hand that doesn't go all the way flat. Just try to see what parts will touch the plate, and take it how it goes without any expectations. Just to give that hand the same ❤️ as the other!

Another idea might be do the imprint on the hand after by adding more paint maybe to the hand to get the second print to come out stronger...just a thought

What if you press your left hand on the press with your other hand ? When you do gellprinting with plants they get a lot of pressure when you do the socalled negative print before you take the plants off the plate and do the final print . I will try this today ! Thanks for the videos, they are here to inspire, isnt it ?

I really love how you experiment with these gel prints Juna! Maybe you can use a tissue paper with a little white paint on, dab it gently on that place where you felt it is too much color - next to the thumb! The second print you did, I see a teapot lol Thanks for sharing again! Looking forward tomorrow already lol

Yes, I could definitely lighten that part up a bit. For Gel Printing July I'm focusing on only taking the print as is and not adding more layers, but that's definitely something I like to do sometimes too. Perhaps I'll also do that for new videos here on KZread or on Patreon. LOVE the teapot!! Although... does that mean that my hand looks like a teapot??!! 😂

@@junabiagioni 😂 Noooo lol your hand is not looking like a teapot! Just the print, since not all the fingers are visable there! ☺

How long do you let the white layer dry on the paper before pulling the print?

  • @junabiagioni

It really depends on many factors, like the type and thickness of the paint, the type of paper, the room temperature & humidity... It's something that you need to test out for your situation, that is best. But the paint does need to be dry (or mostly dry). Hth!

I think if you had not used tissue paper to remove paint and quickly moved hand to second plate you might have more luck. I bet removing your hand from plate one would take away enough paint from it to still leave a shadowy outline of the hand and print one would be lighter handprint on a dark background. Then with less time for paint to be on your hand you might get more complete print on plate 2.

Yes, I think you're right Linda! I had added more paint than usual so that I would have enough on my hand, but I didn't like to leave so much of it on the first gel plate. That's why I used the tissue paper. But that did cost me time, and the paint dried in the meantime... Thanks for your suggestion though!
