One wise reason for some people to keep communicating on a dating app longer is because there's recourse against the other person if they are a fraud, or if conversation slides into harassment. If the conversation turns sexual and one person wants to back down, sometimes the rejected person gets mad and starts harassing. That being done on the app can help ban the one that reacts that way. This is why it's wise to stay on the dating app till the other person's character is known, or even till after a coffee date. I'm 43, so it wasn't odd to set coffee dates on the Okcupid app and not switch beforehand.

Match is AWFUL, it's unclear what other people can see, because there are varying account options. You also can't see the preferences of others, for example what age and ethnicity someone prefers. The usage of "them" instead of "her" is also annoying, what does "Send them a message" mean? Am I sending a message to a group chat? "Send her a message" --- easy and clear. There is also no "Message Center" so you can't see any of the messages you've sent. I wound up bookmarking and printing things, because the website is AWFUL. The "cupid" sites are significantly better, you have a "mailbox" to see messages sent, you can see the preferences of the women, such as age range, etc.

No it not better cupid sites your talking about are International payment debit card or credit card iv using one as we are speaking 1 or 2 free texts work but buy membership they make sure they can't see your messages it says they are getting but not how do I know this simple the woman I wrote to normal are into me because of my profile it's not like them to all suddenly not respond iv test this I was one those sites they respond emitly without membership what's up with that?? I am tempted to try out the premium/standard subscription, but I don’t think I can commit to it because I don’t know if the women I would message would even see it or be able to reply. And let’s be real, women don’t really pay for dating apps. It’s mostly us men

I wouldn't bet on it man. Match also does really shady things like email you to tell you that you have a like, and when you check in to sign up to see, it's an obviously fake account. And you are right, very few women pay for these things. It's a shame too- Match wasn't that bad years ago. But now you have to pay to even see more than 6 results.

I dont even consider Match as an option now. 2 years ago I took advantage of their 1 week free trial. It was nice and I started talking to some people. The week was up so I decided to pay for 3 months to continue talking with the people I was talking to and others. The 3 months was up and I was still getting charged. Apparently there's an option that I have to go into to turn off "automatic renewal". I mean, whats the point of membership types if they keep charging you? It's clearly a money scam to get you for more. I disputed the transaction and I won. What does Match do? They give me a life long ban. I tried with other phone numbers and email addresses but they keep your pictures as reference and make sure you don't make other accounts. Fuck them!

@@NickGDaniels they never said why when I called their customer service line but could read between the lines and went to that conclusion. In reality I wasn't rude and creepy with people I talked to so I put 2 and 2 together it was payback for disputing the transaction.

Match is a scam. On top of the monthly fee to be on their system, you have to pay a "boost" fee to get your profile out of the depths of their servers. If you do not boost your profile by giving them more money, you will not get any views.

2024 now. I gotta be completely honest. I never really had a problem with Match. On the contrary, since my mid 20s I have used it sporadically to meet women from all walks of life, including a doctor. I don't want that to sound like Im just there bouncing from woman to woman. But my last 3 serious relationships have been from Match. Unfortunately they have not panned out for different reasons. But my point is that for me, it hasn't been difficult to meet women there, and I am NOT a 5 star model by any means. It's just my opinion, and if anyone wants to take offense to this, be my guest. But women just dont know how to hold a conversation unless you bumrush them. Im a very humorous and well read guy, so it helps. But you have to kind of get them started and once they start talking back, it's all easy street. Of course, it just goes without saying that too many women on those services just are human red flags and often dont have home training enough to even politely decline a guy. And most of them are biiiiiiiiiig girls expecting to date body builders. But for the most part, once you get a chuckle or two out of them, you're on your way. One thing I will say is that I am sad to see that Match has become a haven of nickel and diming. As of now, I see that even when signing up with a free profile, you have to give them your DOB, Email, and damn near DNA sample. But when you are in the site to kinda browse and get to figuring out where to click for everything, they only let you see 6 profile results and the rest are blurred out until you pay lmao . Every time you come back, the limit you more and more. I dont see what the point is to be honest. if im a free member, I cant talk to someone ANYWAY. So why not let users see the profiles? I hope that whatever pimple faced fresh out of college researchers they have realize that QUITE OFTEN people sign up BECAUSE they see somebody that they would like to speak to and maybe find attraction for. That's why allowing browsing and to see who is a paid member has generated them business in the past. But you gotta pay for each and every different little feature, and they call them "consumables" just like they do in these nickel and diming online games kids play. I think ill give match a pass going forward.

The main thing people need that wasn't clearly covered is that if you are a paying member and you contact someone, they can't see the message if they didn't pay as well and match doesn't let you see whos paying members are vs non paying members so they really rip you off cause most people aren't paying or did and let there subscription run out and now there profile is there and you can see it but they can't reply and in NY,NJ and CT those subscribers have a different version and it $ucks ! so if you pay and send a message, it only tells the free member they have a message but they can't read it till they pay so you the paying member are throwing your money out the window cause only a very small percentage of people pay for the service ..

I can't recall if Match sold this, but there was a feature (additional money of course) where you could have non-paying members reply. My issue besides more money, was how are they supposed to know they can reply?

@@NickGDaniels Yes There are 3 states that what your talking about doesn't give you those extra features if you live in NY NJ CT so I just set my profile from NY to just over the line into MA and it took about 24 hours and now I have all search options and extra features are back so you can click on the 3,6,12 month for "STANDARD only" and once you click continue you get more choices to buy "ANYONE you contact can reply for FREE" plus a few other one's that might be helpful.

Please I can use my number for this app why??
