Marmite is apparently a great vegan substitute for beefy flavour in things like soup!

Yes it is! I also recommend trying half of a teaspoon in beef gravy. Very tasty!

Aah, my homemade veggie gravy is the bomb, so good. I use marmite, brown sauce, soy sauce and Maggi in it, among other things of course. I make a huge batch of it each time, never lasts long!

Vegemite is vegan.
Marmite is pure umami, I put it in basically anything savoury. Try it mixed with peanut butter! Here in the UK you can buy it premixed but I don't like that so much, I prefer to make my own blend to get it perfect!

@@Kreo678 I make a peanut butter, garlic and soy sauce mix to go over my chicken when I make chicken satay sliders. When my mom 1st heard what I was making, she made a face. After she tried it, it became one of her favorite dishes. My brother's, too. You wouldn't think the satay sauce, sweet and sour sauce, peanuts, red pepper mayo would mix well together. But, it does. It hits all those notes. Savory, salty, sweet, sour, soft and crunchy.
I truly appreciate how difficult it is for food to disappoint Jeanelle. She’s just so excited about food and so willing to try and enjoy anything, it’s awesome. It makes me wanna try all sorts of new foods!

That's the best mindset. Because most tastes are aquired taste. That means you have to get used to it to like it and later love it. And without an open mind you will miss you on so much.
You should try making a grilled cheese with marmite! I recommend using a mild cheddar or mozzarella, as the creaminess of those cheeses is a great compliment to the bitterness of the marmite 🤤

Now this sounds yummy I like marmite and butter on toast. I just got my first jar. It isn't sold anywhere with in an hr to and hr and a half one way for me. I have up hope but I searched it one day on ebay and bam! I could get it for $9. It would take $20 just in gas to go to the store it's at. Publix isn't a chain you see everywhere. Plus the price of the product had me at 3x the cost I payed on eBay to have it in my mailbox 3 days later. Not a huge loss if I didn't like it either. Turns out I love it! I didn't do the big amount some do and that made the dif. It is really bitter on the backside but bread cuts that almost completely

Steve I'm giving you promotion! :D marmite :/ Yep Now you Fired :(
Marmite on toast topped with a poached/fried egg is delicious! Or mixed with peanut butter on toast. It's also great for adding depth of flavour to soups and stews, and I also love a spoon of it mixed into pasta with butter, lots of black pepper and parmesan. It's quite a versatile thing to have in the cupboard!
Marmite is a great ingredient for soups and stews. It gives a big boost of umami and since it's vegetarian it can be a really useful substitute for beef broth if you add it to vegetable stock.
I absolutely love marmite, always had marmite and margarine sandwiches for my pack lunch at school 😊
Hey Jeanelle, u ever had Hajmola. Its popular in India where its quite sour and used to help with stomach aches or bloating. Some enjoy the taste and some say it tastes like farts lol.

U can try it with congee or rice porridge. Put a bit and mix it together.
Marmite with a good strong cheddar cheese, made into a toasted sandwich is lovely. As an Englishman we were pretty much brought up on this, even though was 17 before l discovered just how much l loved the stuff. I suppose we have some acquired tastes in Britain 🇬🇧
Yeeessss! So glad you tried Marmite! My favourite way to eat it is with toast, butter and sliced tomato on top 😋 It's the best savory breakfast!
Adding a little marmite on congee (preferably simpler or plain congee) is just heavenly
Coming from someone who doesn’t like marmite all that much, it kinda strangely goes really well with cheese, you can make a pin wheel kinda thing with puff pastry, marmite and shredded cheese and it’s really good lol
You should try marmite and cream cheese on a bagel it’s sooo good!
there's sooo many ways to use yeast extract! highly recommended a watch on adam ragusea's video on the same

Marmite definitely tastes a bit different! I am an Aussie though, love my vegemite.
Love the vids. Try it with some slices of gouda or cheddar or emmantel cheese. Ad never spread it too thick lol
Marmite on shapes crackers is a treat to behold
I live in the UK and their slogan is ‘you either love it or hate it’
theres marmite vegemite and bovril and you can use them all to make soup, put in porridge, spread on toast like you did, mix with rice. almost anything you want goes but those are what i've tried and eaten since childhood. theres also marmite chicken they sell outside, where i live.
Melt one teaspoon of marmite into one cup of boiling water. Makes a really flavorful broth. Great for cold rainy days. Low cal too. It good on cashews too.
Marmite on bagels. Amazing. Diluting it and using it as a glaze is also really good.
I add it when roasting potatoes/any root vegetables, and also when roasting cauliflower quarters 😀
For some reason, my first thought was putting a little drizzle of it on fries, like cheesy fries with marmite.
It's a kitchen staple in New Zealand, South Africa, Australia & UK households. Sometimes we add cheese and toast the bread lightly... Oh and definitely a sweet cup of tea in winter coffee doesn't do it justice.❤😂
I used it once in a sauce recipe and it was great
As an uk person marmite is my fav snack of all time it's bitter and kinda sweet it'd smell like garlic but u have to try it so good
I absolutely love marmite but it’s definitely an acquired taste. I think your the first person online who seems to like
fun fact about marmite, its well known that some people love it and some people hate it so it ended up being a bit part of its advertising in the uk. but they also did research to see if there in a genetic reason why some people love it and some people hate it, similar to how theres a gene that makes cilantro taste like soap to some people
I add it as an ingredient in hummus. Basically add 1-2 tablespoons for every can of chickpeas. The sticky consistency means you'll want to mix it with warm water (and let that cool down) before adding to you hummus mix. Its not supposed to taste very marmite-forward, but it adds a nice savoury flavour. That said, at Tesco in the UK they actually sell Marmite branded hummus, which is a lot more in-your-face with its marmite flavour.
The toast needs to be hotter not cold to melt the butter. It taste much better when warm. Writing from Britain.
I’m obsessed with marmite the marmite rice cakes are my favourite food ever
Hey from the UK 🇬🇧 my mum puts a tablespoon of marmite in her beef gravy that she makes from the juices of the cooked beef and it’s really good.
I love marmite. I have it for breakfast every morning on some Rivita flat breads. It is loaded with B vitamins. Also, it is right how you spread it thinly. Alot of people who try Marmite for the first time spread it on thick, which is not how you spread Marmite.
Youll love 'twiglets'. Its a british vegimite like snack.
Can you try Promite, it’s my favourite Aussie toast spread. It’s like Vegemite with a sweet taste to contrast, similar to marmite. Please see me :)
You should make marmite bread!! It’s like cinnamon swirled bread but savoury swirled with marmite instead
try marmite tea mix hot water and marmite yum it's also a coincidence that I had marmite and butter on toast today
Marmite reminds me of the fluoride multivitamin we had when we were kid that liquid brown stuff smells just like it. It's salty Tangy and bitter I noticed if I chew lately it stays sweet if I gulp too hard you could definitely feel the bitterness
My Australian teacher let us try vegemite from the tube, I was prepared for it to taste like British Marmite but no! It was actually pretty good! The only thing they have in common is the "what even is this" quality, but Marmite is truly horrendous.
My only recommendation for first time tryers, is to put less marmite on your buttered toast than she did. Teeny tiny amount and then add more if you like that taste and want it stronger. Even if it doesnt look like it is spread evenly on the toast; trust me, you will taste it.
cheese and marmite sandwich. UK classic
I adore Marmite - I grew up eating it
My parents grew up with this in postwar Scotland but I don't think it was available in Canada when I was a kid. As best I remember, I tried it for the first time in middle age last year and did not care for it. You've given me pause, and I will try again at some point. I still haven't tried vegemite. My initial reaction to the marmite might best be illustrated by the word "heuuggghhh!" But that may have been unfair.
Cheesy (english) muffins with marmite are good!
Spagetti fried in butter, add a tea spoon of marmite and fry it until all Spagetti is coated, turn off oven and add grated cheese.
That with ham and mustard =) I have also used it in my BBQ marinade and YES. Best sp far Marmite is made from the yeast leftovers from beer brewing
I had marmite on toast with butter. It’s pretty good.
I used to eat this a lot in primary school with green grapes and I loved it. I’d recommend you try it and if you don’t like it then that’s that
I've never had vegemite, but marmite I know has hops in it from the spent brewer's yeast. So that might be the weird bitter flavor. AFAIK the only hoppy thing I have access to regularly is beer.
maximum points awarded for spreading the correct ratio on the toast, I see way to many people using far to much as if it was Nutella
I love Marmite 🙈❤️ You tried the best way I like to have it and you can drink it too as a hot beverage with some onions and curry leaves 😬😁
I tried this before because we lived in uk and I didn't actually liked it😂 it's just didn't suit on my taste😂the taste is yeasty, salty, soy sauce esque flavor and after you swallow it, it have a little bit taste of old engine oil😖the only thing that suit my taste is Reno liver spread in Philippines and I liked it!you should try it too Jeanell and test taste it!😊
It tastes like the pan after roasting a chicken. The concentrated ummami.. also you got to eat with fresh bread without toasting it. Loads of butter a bit of marmite and tiny bit of chopped onion.
In asia, we put that in our porridge/congee
I LOVE marmite. I always HAVE to have it in my cupboard. In lockdown, me and my dad found THE BEST combo. Try mascarpone and marmite in a bagel!
You may try Cenovis.
You can eat it with rice and curry ! I Do it all the time and it’s just yum!
Make a cheese toastie but add marmite too it, it is delicious 🤤!
Here in Singapore we eat marmite pork ribs rlly often! Super goooood
Nothing beats melted cheddar...yall can keep the varmite and vagamite
I loooovveee it. Its nice to a little spoon of it in gravy
I love Promite the best🥰
I literally just bought a jar of this last week. Going to crack it open tomorrow.
I grew up in Australia, Marmite and Vegemite is a staple. Marmite tastes like beef broth to me.
I always make marmite noodles 😌it's so delicious

You are making me want some toast and I've already had avocado toast earlier today and I need to lower the carbs!!😮😮😮😋
Can you make a “what I eat in a day.” If you already did it can you tell me?
Here in the Uk the phrase goes: “it’s like marmite, you either love it or hate it”
Marmite is a legendary stuff that should always be availabe in your kitchen
My favorite use for Marmite is making a pasta with butter, parmesan and a poached egg on top. Heaven 🤤🥰
It is UMAMI! A little goes a long ways - and if you're vegetarian/vegan (I am not), it makes a great "meaty" broth for recipes. Also, because of the protein content, salt content and high vitamin B complex content - it does WONDERS for a hangover! 😂
Marmite and cucumber sandwiches are good
Scratch butter from the top, don’t cut it. By doing so you’ll have thin layers of button stuck on your knife, it is much easier.
bread + mayonaise + gouda cheese + marmite
Add to thanksgiving gravy as the salt.
Holy Spirit mam that's literally the most butter I have seen on a bread
My favourite way of eating marmite is....roast or fry some tomatoes and put on toasted marmite bread..yum
I love marmite on toast, but I usually put on more marmite than butter
Yeeeeeesssss prepared well
Yep marmite is a pretty popular food here in Sri Lanka. U can eat it with crackers its reeeaally good! A childhood favourite snack😊
