The Caribbean is known for its sunny weather, gorgeous beaches, seafood, and tropical fruits, among other things. But unique and exotic wild meats are also common throughout the islands, and that’s what we’re exploring today! Let’s go try some wild meat in Grenada!
🇹🇹 Trinidad & Tobago Travel Series: • Eating TRINIDADIAN CHI...
MORNE GAZO: In this village in southern Grenada, a local cook prepared some manicou, or opossum, along with a bake. It was sweet, savory, and rich, and the bake was perfect for soaking up the gravy. It reminded me of Guyanese pepperpot and is my favorite dish from the island!
FRESH LOBSTER GRILL Y BAR: Here, I enjoyed some phenomenal grilled lobster with garlic butter, Creole lambie (conch), garlic bread, and mashed yams. The lambie was similar to Chinese dishes I’d had, and the lobster was tender, flavorful, and succulent!

My mum is Guyanese and my dad Grenadian and, I love love love LOVE oil down, pepper pot, lambie waters, black pudding, crayfish, roti, souse, Oh and they have one called manish waters! super nice! made with goat head. but manicou!!! I feel like it's an acquired taste and I never acquired the taste for that. I can't stand manicou at all lol. I got a not so funny story about hunting manicou. Myself and a few local boys went hunting, I had my pet dog(Tramp) with me, I was so proud of him lol. As soon as we got the manicou out of the tree Tramp was on it. So we got it back to yard and I hit it real hard on the head, then we tied it up and put it over a fire to burn off the fur and it was still alive 😢 I felt so bad lol I think that scared me for life. Suffice to say that was my first and last time hunting manicou...

Hey David. Happy Saturday. An opossum? 🫤. You are daring and willing I must say. Not to fatty. He is seasoning well. My mother had a pressurized cooker just like that. I’ll taste what’s under the counter 🥃😂. The bread and meal looks amazing. And that’s exactly what I’d eat; bread 🍞 with the gravy/sauce or with rice. You guys tore that up cuz the bread is gone too. Hats off to the hunter and chef. Next you visit the fishermen for 🦞🧈🧄🥖. The mashed yam 🍠 is different. The creole conch looks delish 😋. 2 amazing meals from 2 💪 🏋️‍♀️ chefs. @@Davidsbeenhere hi David. Now I know, through my own research, that the possum/opossum is NOT a giant rat, but rather related to the family of marsupials like the kangaroo. So no more 'rat' talk. Can't wait to see the series in the Amazon. Were the tribesmen commando? A lot of dangling ding-a-lings 🤭😜🤣. Just my curiosity, that's all. Anyway, have a blessed day today and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in your family. May God bless you all.🙏😇💐💐💐💐🌹🥰🇹🇹🇨🇦

Hey David. First of all, I have to apologize to the possum/opossum family of wild meats. I have since learned that they are not giant rats but that they are marsupials like the kangaroo. Possums exist in Australia while opossums exist in North and south America. So no more rat talk. Still, I couldn't eat it. It looked delicious though. I was surprised that he made a bake to go with it, but the bake reminds me of home: so rustic. The lambie/conch and the lobster looked tasty too but these are all foods that I have never eaten. Now, what's this natural viagara all about?🤔 Hmmm. Be careful 🤭🤣🤣🤣. Anyway, you have more guts and stomach for these foods than I will ever have. So enjoy. Have a great day and blessed weekend. Mucho respeto y amor. Happy mother's day to your mom and Ana 🎉
