I knew Dave, way back in 1965 - 66. This was before the show business stuff. We had the same motorbikes, Yamaha Twin Jet 100's, and met at Uni High in LA. He was a nice kid. Rode around together for about 6 months. When I met his stepmom, I was floored. What a beauty back then. Never saw his dad, and when I asked him about it,he would not talk about him. Later in life he drank himself to death after the fame wore out. Too bad buddy! RIP

I've said in previous posts David was in no way to blame for Bernadette dieing at white city concert, the organisers were completely at fault. I was lucky I managed to get to the side of the stage, out of the way of the crushing, to be honest I'm surprised there wasn't more serious injuries. Her passing had a terrible effect on him, and I believe was the icing on the cake to make him quit touring at that time . 😥😥💔

A man who canNOT give the love and support and take pride in a son (as in being truly happy he can become even more successful than himself) is not a man. To compete with your son (or even daughter, as Ryan O'Neal did, even with 9 year old Tatum) and even be jealous of his success is damaging, childish and narcissistic! Reminds me of the Beach Boys father. Shame on Jack Cassidy for withholding that love and acceptance to his son (sons?) AND: To Shirley Jones: Now we know why he "thought you were the wicked stepmom!" You "went to his concert at the peak of his popularity" and repeat Jack's statement that he was like a "monkey in a cage" and "you both wanted more for him?!?! Oh please... "Meow!" P.P.S. No wonder Susan Dey stopped talking to EVERYone!!!

@@Eidann63 well said. His father, with all of his own success class and dignity (including TV's Bewitched😂) died in an apartment fire caused by his own cigarette. If memory serves, he was too drunk to notice. It was also prominently recorded in the Los Angeles Times it was so surprising. Jack Cassidy was not only possibly bi-polar, he was a considerable arse hole. I would also say as a father at least with David, he was a failure. His father Jack didn't want David to start at the top musically because he reminded him what a giant crash it would be when the screaming girls moved on to next teen idol. He knew David wanted to be a serious actor and wanted him to attend acting school do plays work his way into movies. Was Jack jealous? Of course no doubt but also think he wanted what was best for David..maybe worried would follow his affliction for alcohol on the down turn. Tragically all happened as Jack predicted. David was a sensitive kid growing up as well as a man. Had he lived a healthy lifestyle with his good youthful looks voice would have still been popular into his late 70's...able to retire gracefully. Such a horrible loss. Kudos to Danny Bonaduce for his grace respect of David before after his passing.

I’ve only recently seen the stories behind the lives of this cast. I remember watching this show every week. As a forty five year old woman I saw David Cassidy at the Saratoga race track in the VIP section. I still drank alcohol at the time n I had a nice buzz on. I am ashamed to say I was a typical fan. I went up to him n his wife at their table and intrusively introduced myself. He was nice but I could see that he felt intruded upon. I always felt like I shouldn’t have done that and now knowing how sad he actually was I understand why I felt the way I did. Alcohol clouds my judgement. Had I not been drinking I probably would have just smiled n waved at them. I’m still embarrassed when I think about the look on his face. I hope him n his father have found peace with each other in the spirit realm. 💝✨🌹☮️🌹✨💝

This is so sad because at this time in his career he was makiing such a comeback. Not just his career but, his personal life. He had his drinking under control. He was doing what he loved, playing music at small venues. He even picked up his guitar again at the urging of his guitar player at the time. I talked to his guitar player in Minnesota and he told me that. I also heard in an interview he started drinking again around the time of his Minnesota concert. He rocked out at that concert and I got him to autograph my concert ticket after the show. I misplaced the ticket and wish I still had it. It is sad when someone you look up to goes back to something that put him in a place he was in, and came back from. All that aside he was never appreciated for being a great guitar player, song writer and he really could rock out. The worst thing that happened to hime was being labled a teen idle. He never had the chance to make it as a rock star because of it. A great musician and a very hard worker.

The Partridge Family was about a real family of young musicians, The Cowsills. But, Barbara Cowsill was not a single mother. She was married to their Dad, Bud. If you haven't seen the documentary about The Cowsill Family, The Family Band, it's available on YT. It is really a heartbreaking, and yet inspiring story of the Cowsill kids and how they made it through their abusive home life to make truly exceptional music they are still making today. Barbara died of lung disease, Bud passed on also. Barry Cowsill went missing in Hurricane Katrina in Aug/ Sept 2005. His remains were found in Dec. 2005. The oldest boy Bill, had been in poor health and passed away 6 months later in Canada where he had lived for many years. The youngest boy, John, has been the drummer for The Beach Boys for many years. Bob, Paul and Susan still tour as the Cowsills and Susan and her husband Russ, have their own band based in New Orleans. Bob had a twin brother Richard. Bud never would allow Richard to join the bad but they eventually brought him into the band. Richard passed away a few years ago.

I always thought the girl's parents were so stupid to let her go to a place, a David Cassidy concert where you are full of adrenaline to begin with. Do you know what happens to a weak heart under those circumstances? I have a heart condition but I wouldn't go to a place where I will get overexcited. Some Schools had 3 weeks off. 1 good thing were called MIAMI of the NORTH lots of 90 degree days in summer. Even the weather guys cant figure out of all other Citys near 5 Great Lakes why Buffalo gets the most Snow. Not Lying about those snow totals. Some years have to cancel ST. PATRICKS PARADE. Even summer is only 2 months becase the lake frezzes over. Even NFL Teams hate playing games here in December. Lucky NIAGARA FALLS IS CLOSE FOR VISTORS. If he had accepted that the girls death wasn't his fault. If, if, if. That's like most of our lives if we think them over. He did the best he could and had some fun along the way. I always wondered if DC paid for Bernadette's funeral and the like. I heard he sent flowers, but he was like on 8 million dollars at that time. Perhaps DC wanted to keep it private what he did.

Joanna deacon, David purposely underplayed everything regarding the young girl's funeral because he didn't want to show disrespect or take anything away from the service. I don't know if he sent flowers, but I do know that he talked to her parents and explained why he would not be at the funeral.

This was a great show. David was as he says a 21year old normal red blooded male so let that be. Danny had a very sad real life and he had a hard life after the show. This is what happens to a lot of child stars, Donny Osmond, micheal Jackson and many more.

The claim that David Cassidy was more popular than the Beatles and Elvis is total bullshit, The Beatles had already stopped recording in their heyday back in 1964-1970. They not only played live for 3 years (and filled every stadium and venue in the world AND recorded gold albums everytime time they made one. Today, the Beatles net worth (and still making money!) is $1.5 BILLION. Even John Lennon who has been dead since 1980 is still worth $220,000,000. David Cassidy died with $500,000 ($450,000 of it was insurance money!!!) He was piss poor and even claimed bankruptcy at some point.. That's it! Maybe Cassidy was filling stadiums but the Beatles had already done that so it's not even a contest. Forget Elvis! He is up there with the Beatles AND more popular BY himself than Cassidy.

Sorry Arnie you got that wrong. David's fan base was larger than the Beatles and Elvis. David was an International Super Star; who may have been treasured even moreso in other countries than America. No one was comparing money earned. David made a lot of money. But interrupting his career short-circuited that flow. He may have died close to broke but as with Elvis' after-death phenomena I can believe that David's royalties will begin to flow again for a long time.

@@darnabedwell2115 Elvis and the Beatles made significant contributions that permanently changed music whereas, all the Partridge Family did was annoy a couple of generations of people who had good taste. Did David Cassidy et al sell more records? A possibility. Did they have the staying power of people who create “classic” rock or other music? You must be joking. DAVID WILL NEVER GO DOWN IN HISTORY as long as Elvis and the Beatles are a huge force that changed the word because they are STILL selling more albums and relics while Cassidy has pretty much been forgotten as a creative and driving force in the music industry. You make me laugh when you say his royalties with flow again??? You are a deluded old teenybopper.

They always say that David had a bigger fan club than Elvis and the Beetles. You have to take into account what that means. He had more people that were willing to be in a fan club. David had a million girls in love with him. Elvis had a lot of fans but many were man or housewives, not exactly the type to be writing letters to Stars in the 70s.

@@lorimiller4301Both Elvis and the Beatles had already enjoyed their fame and fortune by the time Cassidy came a long. Elvis was just singing in Las Vegas and the Beatles had split up. Yes, Cassidy may have had more fans(for a while) while the other two superstars had already made a mark on the world with their music. It is STILL being played today. There are countless books written about the Beatles and they are still considered the most famous band who walked the Earth. On the other hand, Cassidy was a flash in the pan. Yes, he had millions of teenyboppers hanging pictures of him in their bedrooms but comparing Cassidy to the Beatles (and Elvis) is like apples and oranges. David came and went. His music was not of the same caliber as the Fab Four OR Elvis. Cassidy did not change the course of musical history. He disappeared as quickly as he came. It is obvious that the radio has never played anything by Cassidy when he fell from stardom yet the Beatles and Elvis can STILL be heard daily throughout the world. Another thing: The Beatles and Elvis (dead or alive) are STILL raking in $$. Paul McCartney is worth $800,000,000 and the richest musician in the world. David died with about $150k from insurance. BTW< your assumption that Elvis' fans were housewives and men is bulls***t.. BTW you spelled Beatles wrong in your post. Beetles????? LOL! Go change your diaper and shut up.
