    Hi Oline, I can’t wait to see how the dress comes out and I just adore that color! My vote is that you cast on something next for yourself and/or your son. You are always so very generous with your gift knits, so maybe a few more stress-free projects without deadlines? I had to laugh when you mentioned your “bucket of shame”, but you do sound unhappy about it. I try to make weaving in ends fun by turning on a really good tv show or audiobook, or working on them when I go to my knitting group where I can talk and listen to people. Don’t worry, you will get through them eventually ! 😊

    Hi! I'm so excited to see the dress finished! But it might be a game of yarn chicken to get there😅 I'm not quite ready to start gift knitting agai🙈 It's been so lovely focusing on what I want to knit these last few weeks! I still have some summer knits I want to get around to, and of course start on my sons new warderobe🥰 I've gotten some really good tips to work my way through my "bucket of shame" Hopefully, that will help me get through it one day🤞🏻

    I had the same problem with weaving ends. I picked a long movie and sat down with my needle and a pair of scissors and they were all done before the movie ended. I had a lot of projects with a lot of ends too. It's really nothing if your mind is somewhere else ; )

    Can't wait to see your dress! I wish I was a dress person but I am not (have about 20 beautiful ones in my wardrobe and never wear them). And I love the Ellen's cardigan, especially in that colour! I want to learn how those pockets work. I have done sewn on ones a few times but those ones look great! I might have to get that pattern just for the pockets!

    @@norwegianknitter Watching on, I see you are working on the orangey dress - how are you deciding on the increases for the hip area? Where did you start them (after the waist) and how many rounds between your increase rounds? I have only followed patterns and have not yet tried to design anything on my own, but this looks like a really perfect summer dress and I am interested in how you are working out how it will fit.

  • @norwegianknitter

    @norwegianknitter

    Ай бұрын

    I've tried it on and figured out I didn't really need any increases for my hips! It's quite tight fitting, but that's what I wanted. I also left out the increases you do after the shoulder increases to make the body more tight-fitting, but I think I should have done a few decreases for my waist and increases again for my hips. But its not a big problem, so I'm probably going to just fix it with a belt🥰

    @@norwegianknitter Very helpful to know! I think it is a new skill to do the shaping when the garment carries into a dress since it does need to be a bit more form-fitting. If I am knitting a tunic sweater which is intentionally longer than usual sweater length and also covers my hips I actually don't want it to follow my contours. I want it to have more ease over the hips for that kind of silhouette. But a fitted dress is meant to echo the body's own outlines and that is where knowledge of when to begin and end the shaping really counts. This is going to be darling!

    Hi there, I really enjoy your videos. You have lots pf experience with the Cotton Merino, I used it once in the past, but can't really remember. Do you wash the pieces in the washing machine? And how does the fabric change after washing? I am currently on a summer knitting kick and I am obsessed with Line and with Drops Safran and Belle, but I needed to learn that all these yarns produce pieces that grow a bit widthwise and lose some length after washing (no problem if you know it and plan ahead). Does Cotton Merino do this as well? Bye, Steffi
