@@lolas.7024 No need to test everyone that gets sick, there's no treatment for the virus. Only symptomatic treatment that exists regardless of cause. It's good to know if people in the hospital have corona to have some knowledge of prognosis and to limit spread, but the treatment you get will depend on your symptoms. In countries where civilians get sick and you're not able to track from whom anymore it's better to regard everyone as possible corona carriers - don't spend time with sick people, don't spend time in crowds, wash your hands often.

This has been my point all along. Polls in Iran show that only about 2% of the population has any trust in their government. Now that they have the Coronavirus in their midst, they wouldn't believe their gov't if they were told to go on about their lives or shutter themselves for 3 months. I was just perusing Twitter and Obama, quietly and without fanfare, was just sharing links to practical articles full of useful information on disease prevention. Then he complained about how CV is affecting his Follower count, hurled a racial slur at a single-celled organism, picked a bewildering fight with Lithuania, declared Coronavirus cured minutes before telling everyone to stay indoors, and spent the next 47 minutes reviewing TV shows.

Fun fact: the European Union actually has no authority over health issues whatsoever. This is a strict Member State prerogative. The countries can coordinate voluntarily (which is what is currently arranged by the European Commission, but since there is no precedence it takes time) - but there was no way to make any decision about that in Brussels.

What's disturbing is that the UK is the only country in Europe that is *not* practicing social distancing measures, etc. The PM hopes that that way UK individuals will build up herd immunity because they are surrounded by countries with community infection. And the UK is the one country that is allowed flights into the USA.
