#NightofTooManyStars host Jon Stewart is interrupted by Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) while pitching online auction items to benefit #NEXTforAutism. Bidding ended Dec 21. #NightofTooManyStars also featured Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Paul Rudd, Jon Oliver, Darlene Love, Jim Gaffigan, Rachel Bloom, Sarah Sherman, Steve Buscemi, Sam Morrill and Rob Schneider. It took place at the Beacon Theater in New York on Dec. 11., 2023.
Night of Too Many Stars was produced and created by longtime SNL and Conan O’Brien writer/producer Robert Smigel and Michelle Saks Smigel, who struggled to find effective education for their own autistic son, Daniel. The Smigels’ extended comedy family has been supporting this event over the past 20 years and has raised over 30 million dollars to support schools and programs that enhance the lives of autistic individuals, specifically in the areas of education, home, work, social, health and well-being.
Thanks to the generosity of Night of Too Many Stars sponsors and participants, NEXT has funded more than 350 grant projects at 145 organizations across the U.S., impacting more than 100,000 autistic individuals.
Also joining the event was NEXT partner the Eagles Autism Foundation and Popcorn for the People, an organization created to provide career opportunities for autistic adults.
The night paid a special tribute to Donald Triplett (1933 - 2023), who is recognized as the first person to be diagnosed with autism.
Online auction items were:
- Chef's dinner prepared by Michael Solomonov at his famed Philadelphia restaurant, Zahav with Jason and Kylie Kelce
- Tommy Hilfiger personally picks your seasonal wardrobe (clothes worth up to $5,000!) at a styling session at his New York City Madison Avenue showroom
- A day in the studio with the son of Biggie Smalls, actor/producer “CJ” Wallace (along with a surprise guest or two) followed by COURTSIDE SEATS with suite access at a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center.

I will admit I thought he was a talented performed who owed much to the SNL writing staff - but seeing him ad lib on his own in the fragmented gibberish style of DJT is pretty killer.

What's crazy is that you can tell this wasn't a script. He was doing improv the whole time which is why Jon was losing it. But that also just shows you how damn good James Austin Johnson is. If you were just listening to it instead of watching, you might think it really was him. He's got the tone, voice and cadence down to perfection.

There’s this idea by people that don’t watch snl that it’s this PC show that doesn’t offend but it’s a very raunchy show. This read to me like another of snl is holding him back but I swear it was the exact same jokes he makes on snl

@@jasonmurdoc9533 I’m an SNL watcher, saw Sandler last year. In my 40’s, this was his best “Trump” I had seen up to the date of the show, and Stewart’s reactions helped, it’s all good 👍 EDIT “on the show”

Trump inherited a healthy economy from Obama, who had taken it from the recession precipice of the 2007-09, and it was steadily expanding. Under Agent Orange, job growth was unimpressive, and inflation was tame before the pandemic. But wages were flat, and increases in the gross domestic product and job creation were more or less a continuation of trends that began in the Obama years rather than a direct result of any changes that Trump made. Trump's tax cut helped the stock market and the one-percent (including himself) but not the average Americans. I actually paid more in taxes in the year the new tax rules went into effect even though my income hadn't changed. The tax cut was the major driver of the size of the U.S. debt.
That is tiny hands down the best Donald Trump impersonation I have ever seen.

James gets the Trump deviation when he speaks so perfectly. Trump goes off on so many tangents when speaking and James nailed it here. His voice is perfect too. Best Trump impression I have seen in years

Hilarious. 😂. "I will never die". I can see Trump's head in one of those big jars, yelling about not having a body. It's just "so unfair" he keeps yapping about.
People have been saying satire is dead, but somehow Johnson doesn't just nail the cadence and rhythm, the mannerisms, the common word usage, but he treads that fine line of referencing the genuine terrible stuff while still mocking it.
“Did you ever hold a hand??” So good. It’s funny ‘cause it’s true.
I love how Jon drew the line at dissing “The Dictator” lol

I've been trying to avoid watching too much stuff regarding trump recently. Well this kept on popping up on YT so I thought I should give it a look. Oh how glad I am to have witnessed this. I'm in Australia so I don't know who JAJ is, but I am so very impressed with him right now. I laughed a fair few times during this clip, fantastic.
