Maybe the judge is waiting for him to be found guilty and will then use his behavior and complete lack of remorse to immediately send him to jail. His lawyers can appeal while he sits at Rikers.

Why should he have secret service in jail? If he's a criminal shouldn't that take away the privilege of secret service?

Fully agreed. Every ex-president has secret service protection for the rest of his or her life. The issue with Trump is, an ex-president has never been sent to prison. This is uncharted territory.

I think the judge covertly asked the city if they could jail trump safely and was told various changes would need to be made to jail a former president. the judge has been waiting for the ok from the city that a suitable cell and cell block was ready. I also think he has now been given the go ahead to apply the law as he would for anyone else as trump's suite is now ready.
