From AUSTRALIA with an outside observation: The answer is YES but just as easily they could lose EVERYTHING just as easily. What the American Left has forgotten is the ACTUAL RESULT of 2020. Forget how many votes Hilary got lets just look at a couple of basic facts. In 2016 Trump got 62,984,828 votes. In 2018 the mid terms did NOT go well for the GOP. the did gain 2 seats in the Senate but LOST 41 House Seats and LOST 7 Gubernatorial seats. In 2019 EVERY POLL said Trumps base was falling and his approval was falling. Even Fox News ran stories that were concerning. In 2020 the Polls were even worse than 2019 and COVID was being terribly mismanaged and that included Trump pushing quack medical advice and straight out lying to the public. *YET* when it cam tot he election Trump got 74,223,975 votes which more than 11 million *MORE THAN 2016.* So despite all the polls and the catastrophic mismanagement of COVID and extra 11+ million turned up and voted for Trump. WHEN HAS ANYONE on the American Left acknowledged that basic fact regarding Trumps turn-out? Looking from the OUTSIDE the greatest concern I have is the Democrats *FAILING to acknowledge 2020 wasn't that good of a result.* They did NOT win outright majority in the Senate until later and then only by the narrowest of margins. They actually lost seats in the House and were slaughtered in the State elections. YES WE GOT THOSE FACTS, but apparently the Democrats didn't. *SO YOU ALL KNOW* why this is important to other nations like Australia, Canada, Japan, Great Britain, Mexico, all of Europe and many others. Its because the US Dollar (USD$) is still the World's reserve currency which was agreed on at Breton Woods in 1944. YES the Breton Woods agreement is long gone but its after effects are still with us. Many of the international transactions the rest of the world does are either done in USD$ or currencies are exchanged and USD$ is used during the exchanges. When Australia sells iron ore to Japan, South Korea and China that's NOT done in Australian Dollars, Japanese Yen, South Korean Won or Chines Yuan - its done using USD$. Either they use USD$ directly or buy AU$ using USD$. On the reverse of that when we buy cars & stuff from those countries we don't send them AU$ we send USD$ or go a money exchange to get say Japanese Yen to buy a boat load of cars and that money exchange is underpinned by USD$. Simply put NONE of us can afford to have an out of control rampaging clown like Donald Trump in the White House *EVER AGAIN.* FYI - I was working in Canada when Trump just tore up NAFTA and slapped the Canadians with tariffs. You guys have no idea how much that scares the rest of the world, when you have a temperamental clown surrounded by sycophants who will smack an ally in the face like that.

There’s a big difference between thinking that that’s a valid and honourable choice a woman (or man) can make in life to be a homemaker and main child care provider and thinking that women should not choose a career and always be just that. Either choice by a man or woman should be accepted and respected. I think we would do better as a society if we all could have more direct upbringing from both parents, whatever gender. However we spend so much time working just to make ends meet, negativity affecting children. The best thing we can do for children is be present more. What would help with this greatly would be more paid leave for new parents as these first years of life are so formative.

Love the optimism! I really hope we can all look back and remember how dangerous these times really were...

Too many states are controlled by Republican legislatures. Unless we can get rid of the crazy gerrymandering, we won't be able to get rid of the electoral college.

First order of business is structural change to make the government represent the majority of the people: expand House of Rep, add a few seats to the supreme court, statehood for DC and Puerto Rico, campaign finance reform.

Here is the issue not emphasized enough. Trump is not really against abortion, banning books or lack of prayer in schools. Trump is looking out for Trump and that means you have no idea what his next move might be once elected. An obvious choice regarding national security might be what’s best for this country, but if Trump would benefit by making the wrong choice, I am not convinced he would put the welfare of the American people ahead of his “needs”.

The biggest issue with 2020 was not getting enough of the senate. As soon as I saw the narrow control I was worried. 2022 wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it didn't help. We can't tread water indefinitely. I'll keep doing what I can, but we need a real solid win within the next few elections and we need to not drop the ball if it happens.

You can encourage your friends to register and to vote if they are of age. Every vote is vital in this election. I am 62 and this is the most important election of my lifetime. We must preserve what we have and our foundation and protect it from domestic terrorists.

IF the democrats get in, IF they take every office, they should follow the example of Finland, and implement those very same policies. this would not only make life better for all americans -- including the maga fascists, whether they care to believe that or not -- but by doing this, the democrats would ensure they remain in government and not get voted out of office come the next round of elections.

Trump’s toast. MAGA’s toast. Many, I’d say even most Republicans are sick and tired of both. Trump couldn’t even grab more than 60% of Republicans in primaries when opposed. My Republican friends detest Trump, but won’t vote for Biden (at least that’s what they say). I’m hopeful that the Republican Party will right itself with a much more moderate tact. We need two strong but sane parties. My observation is that most Americans are fiscally conservative (ie, taxing me is ok, just spend it wisely) and socially moderate to liberal (ie, I don’t care what you do, just don’t step on my toes). Sure we have fringes on left and right, but that’s not where America is.

MAGA is not synonymous with Conservative values. Trump has never gone past the 50% mark. He is always below that. Not good for him and his MAGA minions.

Absolutely! I heard Michael Cohen say earlier that they only have 70M. If that's right, that's way less than half, only 1/4 or 1/5. So it could totally be a wrap for them. It just SEEMS like they're everywhere we turn.

They are not everywhere as it seems. They are just proud to be vocal and identifiable because the whole bunch have entitlement issues and paranoia. You know they need to have a messiah to believe in with a promise to bring them happiness and solve all of their problems, and then tell them when they can be happy again. They also take the opportunity that America provided to them for granted. They feel they deserve more and somehow they were treated more unfairly than every other citizen, by society and government.
