I've read an analysis that says the Judge is simply appeal-proofing his decision by saying he doesn't want to do it but that he'll have to next time. That way he'll cut out any chance for Trump's lawyers to even argue in the appeals court, which would waste court time and delay the trial.

To be technical, he has been given consequences already, the $10k in fines are the maximum fines they can give, those are virtually always given before escalating to jail and Trump is now on record as being a criminal (they are a kind of judgement based on having broken laws, even if not criminal trial convictions - yet)

Assuming he actually raised that money. I know that it's hard to believe a man like Trump could possibly lie about his assets, but he's made some moves lately that to me at least indicate that he might not have the billions of dollars he claims, so his other claims are starting to seem suspect too.

It's been four days since he violated the gag order. I think the threat got through to him. And I suspect it's partially because the Secret Service needed time to set things up with the city government to prepare to send him to Riker's Island if need be, and once his security detail slash heavily armed baby sitters told him that if he keeps it up, they are ready to put him in a very unpleasant time out, he stopped acting like he was untouchable.

"Former President Trump's campaign reportedly told donors that it raised $76 million last month, and told the IRS that it raised ten." I thought these monologues were for jokes!! 😭
