A lot of people in Goodyear welt communities, like on Reddit, seem to love boots that don't have toe counters. They like the look of when the soft toe collapses. Big market for it, especially in places like Japan. I personally prefer a counter though, I like having shape to the toe.

Plus, the "collapsed" toe tends to wear a sore on the top of your toes. At least it does on mine.

Do the collapsed toes feel like, idk Clarks desert boots? or is it a different kind? Assuming you have the boots haha!

That is just weird! Interesting to share though. It is funny about style and preferences.

On truman boot web that is an option order with or without toe counter and also brown black or color match tongue

@@Kudusole It’s not as bad if you use shoe trees. I find I like a celastic toe with calfskin or oil tanned leathers but due the way veg tanned leathers work I much prefer a soft toe. Wickett and Craig learhers are stiff but tend to mold to your foot and hold their shape better in my experience. I am not a fan of Horween Essex. It is way too soft!
On Truman Boots you can buy the boot with a structured toe or unstructured toe. Looks like this one is an unstructured toe. They used to make the boots with the welts as you fixed, but now they use a Goodyear Welt system which actually lowered the price of the boot. My thought is that the boot you fixed was more like $500 at the time of purchase, with the new Goodyear welt the boots came down in price to mid $400’s
Ok, I'll cancel sending the 55 gal. drum of grandma's goose grease since you got your shoe last desqueaked.
Another great job Steve 👌. They look amazing again.
I haven't been around for a few months, all I can say is brilliant repair, well done.
Hi Steve, glad you are now "squeak-free". As much as I love all the work you do to the uppers of the shoes and boots that you work on, I think all the details you add to the soles are fast becoming my favourite part...love the red line detailing 👍love and respect from the UK 😀👍
Maybe it's just me, but even your hand movements are flowing more freely now that there's no squeak and you don't have to wrestle with the post anymore! Very thoughtful gift from your visitors! Oh, and this was yet another great repair--when I first saw the tear I knew you'd fix it, I just didn't know how, or how you'd strengthen the weak area. Nice looking boots!
Wow - those came out nice! The different shades on the layers of the soles and heel are fantastic!
Cup o' Joe & Steve workin' his magic - perfect mini routine before work! Cheers Steve!
Just when I think I've seen most of your repair magic, you bring on a new technique of attaching uppers, midsoles, and soles together. Always learning when I'm hangin out here. Cheers....
A great ending to the missing screw story arc on Bedo's Leatherworks!

Only squeak we wanna hear is the "Lets Continue" voice!
Great job Steve and as always living up to your crafts motto "If it was made it can be repaired" AWSOME!
Great work. I trained to be a cobbler back on the early 90s, so I really appreciate this work. I sometimes wish that I kept it up, as I could have been a good shoe repairer.
All those different sorts off making a shoe Omg 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️thx again for your time and the vlog Steve 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻see you next time
HI STEVE, I told you those close up views would really be good. And it looks as if i was right, they are fantastic,I'm sure every one that likes to see the fine details thinks so also.It gives us viewers who have no idea what it takes to repair shoes and leather goods exactly what it is that you do.A lot of us are detail oriented, and when you say ,you need to hit the hole in the same place, the closeups show us just what you mean.also when you pick out the old thread ,it looks cool.Stay safe this holiday and thanks again.BOB
Great repair of that tear on some well loved boots and the new white double stitching was “on point” - boots look fabulous now! Happy the squeak is gone!
Congrats on the shop maintenance. I know I always feel better when my machines get lubed, sanding belts get changed, knives sharpened, etc.
Another fabulous job Steve wouldn't have expected anything less from the Boss Man :)
Crud, glad you’re doing this, you kill me with your laugh and surprises,... funny 😆
Once again an excellent job Steve
You are one simple, silly dude. I love it! It really is the little things in life. I actually like the look of these boots. If I hadn’t just ordered parts to build a guitar amp.....
Thank you so much for posting, what an art, your video is not only extremely informative, but you are funny as heck Bro!
Don't forget Danner here in Oregon. I'm wearing a new pair of Quarry boots right now and they feel wonderful. Great save by Steve. The closeups are so darn crisp!
Your t-shirt collection is impressive. Great job on that tear. I don't think there is any situation you could not handle. Glad you got the squeak taken care of. Fixing your compressor will be a monumental improvement. I don't think that one will be as easy. Can't wait for the next project.
Yup Truman has come along way thier boots are some of the best now!!!
Unbelievable!! Just tuned to this vid that I missed previously 😬 I literally fixed our head board noise 10 mins ago this morning. Definitely on the same page there Steve!! 😅 Great job again maestro
Excellent job! You can't even tell there was a tear there. I'm going to miss the squeaks though. My brother wears White's boots and he loves them. He has to have steel toed because of the job he does.
Absolutely brilliant project, well done.
Another one!!! Fine quality repairs from the master crafter!
Thanks Steve.
Beautiful Work, I'm sure the customer will be HAPPY!!!
Great once again Steve!!! Awesome job
Absolutely amazing.
Another awesome repair and refurbishment!!! TYFS
Love your sense of humor!!
I knew what that was within 1 second. Love the close up shots!
I was going to try and sleep but I guess I will in 30 mins. Thanks steve this is so relaxing before election night. I Needed this!!
GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS YOU HAVE THE BEST SHOE BOOT CHANNEL AND SEEN ALOT.👍👀👌
Amazing work again Steve! The lack of counter in the toebox is their "unstructured". They do make some with counters called "structured".
This guy is so f*cking good at his job. It’s unreal.
Great video once again! They turned out pretty nice.
Stunning!
Great Job as always!!!
My day just got a whole lot better.
Maaaaan, you are an artist
Older truman boots have the unstructured toe. Some people like it I guess, I like the newer ones personally, doesn't wrinkle up. Nice job as always master cobbler
Great job on those boots I’m really enjoying watching you
Nice to see a master at work...................................
I am always amazed at how you always figure out how to fix things. Things that I would think are hopeless.
Not too shabby Steve! Great work 👍🏽
Great repair Steve they finished up lovely 👍
Don't change, Steve!! Please don't change!
A work of art.
😂😂😂 THE HAMMER TIME T-shirt nailed me 👍👍💯
outstanding work.
Excellent job steve!
A great repair Steve, you've managed to save a lovely looking pair of boots. It will be interesting to see what you talk about now you've service most of your equipment. You'd best keep going with hammer & coffee time as it's almost a National Tradition.
Superb work as usual 👍🏻 I am addicted to watch your restoration videos really... superb... Let’s continue 👍🏻 Hammer 🔨 time 😃
It’s nice and quiet in your workplace now!!😂 great job!!
It's amazing how people's brains work. I couldn't begin to do the repairs bedo does but I would have found a bolt at lowes for that last in the first week and oiled everything. But I think more like a mechanic. No one is great at everything.
Good morning Steve! Hope u are doing well! Stay healthy. Thank you 🙏🏻 for the video!wow that’s wonderful! I have to come back and watch ur videos more than once. I just find ur work somehow satisfying and rewarding. I have been researching shoe I. The price range 400-800$ and find so many short-cuts they are taking to reduce overhead and increase profits for their share-holders. Sad isn’t it that the product suffers which makes the customer suffer bc the shoe u wear today is just a shadow of their predecessors...I’m not saying the shoes are cheaply made but it’s how they use and replace what makes a shoe a gr8 shoe, i.e. plastic shanks, single welt, and liquid cork and so much more. I “hear” premium leather is at a minimum? True? Thank you 🙏🏻 sir for listening to me!
Fine work my friend
LMAO,FUNNY AS HELL !!U ARE SO CRAZY STEVE!🤣🤣🤣🤣
i love the new Hammer time shirt!!! that was too funny
I literally stopped the video to comment on the illumination of a squeaky last… Well done and I’m sure the rest of the video is good too
I still hold my breath when I see you really break down a shoe for a repair. I should know by now that, in the end, everything will be all right.
I like the added little details that you do. I love My WESTCO BOOTS. Made in Scappoose, OR

I wish I had a good pair of boots that I could send him to fix I just love watching this.
Nice job Steve! I have a theme song for your channel, "The sound of Silence " !!!!???? LOL Thanks for sharing.
Too cool that you give your prices - well worth it!
perfection!
Fix the compressor? What will the haters have to complain about? Another excellent job! Please continue 👍
Very smart tan-coloured dress boots there!
Nicks Boots hand build boot are great !!
You are an artist. Such a beautiful job. Please pass you art on to the younger generation.👏👏👏👏👏👏😀😀
Pure art, nice job Steve. Denver out.
Another nice job. Please do a vid where you include a step by on the edging. These were especially nice because of the light brown/natural? So friggin high end after 👍
Beautiful job, looks great 👍 😊
HI STEVE!!! Those boys are ok, but these red around the edge of the sole was a nice touch! 🎩🥾👢👠🥿
The squeak is dead! Long live the bolt! 🙌🙌🙌
Very nice work.
I am o please you got the right bolt for your last!
Well its here, Steve the cobbler has morphed into "Steve the stripper magician". From now on" let's continue " will be substituted with " ABRAKADABRA " when he pulls off some of his magic. These repairs cannot be fixed by an ordinary mortal. We love the new shirt, and you as well. Thanks for the magic you perform.
Bravo, come sempre lavoro perfetto!!!
Excellent!!😊
That’s a good looking boot.
I’d love to see another bag restore soon 🙂

those boots look as good as new if not better.
Steve's whiney voice "Hey man, your videos are too quiet man. Where is all the squeaking that tells me that you're actually working man? Come on, man, I wanna hear all the squeaks and noises." Great video Steve and nice repair! The minute you held up the bolt for your last, I said to no one in the room with me, "I bet a viewer sent that to him..." lololol Keep up the amazing work and sharing of your skills on the channel!
No more noises in the shop ,happy days
Very nice!
It’s like magic how you do that.
Superb!
Hey Steve, luv, luv, luv your work and your videos. Besides looking like Paul Giamatti, you remind me of that cousin nobody likes, but are still willing to go with if you have season tickets. 💞⚒️⏰
