Rebellion, Resentment, or Rejoicing
We are called to surrender to God's will. But how do we surrender? Is it a matter of feeling or is it a matter of something else? Surrender is an active, dynamic thing. And it is the opposite of rebellion and resentment.

Our prayer of surrender at the beginning of every day and the end of every day (St. Ignatius of Loyola): “Take oh Lord and receive all my liberty, and memory, my understanding, and my entire will. Whatever I have or hold You’ve given me. I restore all to You and surrender it wholly to be governed by Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace. I am rich enough and ask for nothing more. Amen.”

Father Mike, your homily is truly awesome. I have been struggling with surrender. I say to Jesus, "Jesus, I surrender myself to you. Take care of everything", but I still find myself being anxious and worried. Help me dear, Jesus, to truly give all that is bothering me to you and mean it and act on it. It is difficult. Thank you Lord for another day.

Instructions 📝for Surrendering is: (like balancing) 1. Recognize that something is wrong 🤔 2. Pray to the Lord✝️ 3. Get to work 💪 4. Be on guard for rebellion 💂 (doing anything other than what God says) Giving God access rinse...repeat

I feel like I’m praying spiritually and meaningful and I pray only for God’s will. I’ve been ill for years in pain but I’ll keep trying to really try to do God’s will and happily always. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Father Mike, I was drawn to this video. I have done the Surrender Novena multiple times. When anxiety approaches me, I place the moment at Jesus's feet. I was in the Adoration Chapel silently, hoping to hear Jesus. I heard, “Surrender yourself to me.” The vision was before becoming ordained; the seminarian would prostrate on the floor with heels together and arms straight out, mirroring the cross in front of the Holy Host of Jesus. I am a 70-year-old woman kneeling in front of Jesus and prostrated to Jesus, saying, “I surrender my whole to You. Do as You please. I love You. I adore You. I trust You.” This was life-changing. It will not be the only time I do this.

Thank you Fr Mike…in today’s world it is hard to have a grateful heart. As a nurse I will say one of my worst jobs at a very large hospital and I became familiar with the term ‘horizontal violence’….i was dumbfounded by how ppl in the medical field could be so horrible to coworkers and patients….it broke me. I left and worked in hospice for 4.5 yrs, it was such a valuable lesson. I almost left a field I worked so hard to get into bc I saw the dark side of ppl. Hospice showed me so much love, caring and forgiveness….it saved my caregiver heart. I was mad at God for a spell there, as a single mom I felt stuck in the hospital job just so we could survive. The day after I gave my 2 week notice is when I was called about the hospice job…..he hears you, has a plan and even though it can be tough…..things will get better. I try to live by the mantra, be the person you wish you had growing up, same with nursing, I treat every person as though they were family. Be kind and keep faith.

  • @Josuzaki

Have you ever tried renouncing prayers? Recently I had the experience that my depression was linked to a false thought I had about myself. After years of struggling, and in a desperate moment, it became clear to me what thought I had to renounce. This thought was--if the worse happens, I could do the worse. This little thought, that I was capable of evil because I might lose control of my mind, was the"in" that the devil needed to harass me all these years. Don't be afraid. God will send his angels to protect you lest you dash your foot against a stone. Trust that if you're in a state of grace, he will protect your soul and the devil has no power over you. If you choose to do God's will, then God will give you the grace to do good. Always. Begin by renouncing despair and reaffirm your trust in the power of God's goodness to you. "I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living" God bless you in this struggle.

Abandonment in the Lords hands is difficult at first but as we abandon the small things it is easier to place the difficult things in the loving hands of the Lord. It is one of the most wonderful things I learned from the Prayer and Life Workshops founded by Fr. Ignacio Larrañaga.

Dear Jesus Help me to spread Your fragrance everywhere I go. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that my life may only be a radiance of Yours. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Your presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me, but only Jesus! Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as You shine; so to shine as to be a light to others; the light, O Jesus, will be all from you. None of it will be mine; it will be You shining on others through me. Amen. ❤ Fr Mike, need I say it? You are the perfect example of a person, yes a priest, but an individual who lives and breathes the True Radiance of God above. Peace of the Lord be with you always. Also note that we already have the funds and the knowledge to help you. We just have to share it. 👀 ❤🙏❤

this is also my problem Father. i am kinda getting tired of people asking for financial help. when i give them a little amount, i will receive a reaction like, "is this all?" what hurts the most is they are my own mom and grandma. it is not easy to be the breadwinner, yet my mom will talk to others about "the things i CANNOT provide, instead of what i gave." so most of the time, i cannot give to them with a cheerful heart. my siblings are more appreciative and grateful though.

Give me strength Lord Jesus. I’m struggling providing for my children. I will keep faith. I have two beautiful boys both have special needs. I’m overwhelmed because they require so much from me. I’m fearful because every month is a struggle to not end up on the streets with my boys. Lord restore my faith. I’m so tired Lord Jesus of constantly struggling to pay bills and struggling to buy groceries. Ashamed because I’m failing as a mother. Please Lord continue to give me strength.❤️

I will pray for you. You are not a failing mother, you're clearly a loving, faithful daughter of God and a mother dealing with the issues of our day. I will pray for strength and blessings for you.

You have been given a great weight, but the Lord knows you can bear it, but you need not bear it alone. Lean on your school team. In some states there is respite care service tied to the Foster Care system, so it could be free or low cost. Take care of yourself, maybe find a caregivers support group. Financial Peace University transformed my life, it’s biblical and more than just money. You can watch the radio show and back episodes on KZread, and you will no longer feel like a slave to your money. It is freeing to have control of your finances with a budget. I will pray for you in your struggle.

Keep praying. I am praying for you too. Just remember that surrendering does not mean giving up.

*Larry Burkett's book on "Giving and Tithing" drew me closer to God and helped my spirituality. 2020 was a year I literally lived it. I cashed in my life savings and gave it all away. My total giving amounted to 40,000 dollars. Everyone thought I was delusional. Today, 1 receive 85,000 dollars every two months. I have a property in Calabasas, CA, and travel a lot. God has promoted me more than once and opened doors for me to live beyond my dreams. God kept to his promises to and for me*
