"Have you ever killed anyone?" "Yeah, but they were all bad." Fun Fact: The USMC supplied three Harriers and their pilots for a fee of $100,736 ($2,410 per hour). Art Imitates Life Fact: At one point in the movie, Gib tells a story about his second wife taking everything when she left him, even the ice cube trays from the freezer. This is a direct reference to Tom Arnold's divorce from Roseanne Barr that was happening at the same time. Barr was reported to have taken his ice cube trays when she left him as well. Arnold told the story to James Cameron on the set and Cameron incorporated it into the film. That's Hot Fact: The set of bra and matching panties worn by Helen Tasker during the striptease scene were Jamie Lee Curtis's own. Curtis rehearsed the scene extensively with director James Cameron, and it was there that the fall she makes in the middle of the dance was conceived (it didn't happen spontaneously during the actual shooting, as is often claimed). Arnold Schwarzenegger was not told of this beforehand, and this is hinted at when Harry briefly sits up in alarm, realizes that he is breaking character, and then relaxes.

People always comparing Arnold and Stallone. Both are great with action. But Sly can do drama while Arnold can do comedy. True Lies is the perfect combination of action and comedy while Rocky the perfect combination of action and drama. Both are great in their own ways.

Helen was a natural for the spy life. Once she got a taste of the high, she was destined to join him in the trade. I'd love a sequel to this with them both gnarly old super spies. Bring back the whole cast. 🍿😎🍿

@bjgandalf69 Yeah, ratings are a brutal game. So many shows get canceled too early.
The line Tom Arnold says about his ex taking the ice cube trays, is a reference to his split with Rosanne Barr...she apparently damn near stripped the house bare at one point in their break. He confirmed she did take the ice cube trays out of the freezer. And, James Cameron actually has a voice cameo, he is the voice of the helicopter pilot who only has a couple of lines, but a funny one, "Yeah she's got her head in his lap, Yahoo!" Also, the rescue from the limo scene was a huge hit that year, so much so that at the 1995 Oscars, she was brought on stage to present an award by dropping her in from above with a prop helicopter like that iconic scene. You can easily find a clip of it here on YT.

My older brother got home late one night to find his now ex had cleaned out the house. Only left the heavy appliances and his gun safe. When Tom said the ice cube tray line I looked at my bro and he said, yup... Left the fridge, empty.

How I miss the eighties (of which True Lies was a holdover) when summer blockbusters didn't take themselves too seriously and were perfectly fine with just giving us big, dumb fun without getting too stupid. Cameron gave us a swansong to this kind of moviemaking without even knowing at the time that he was.

One of my favorite movies with Arnold. When the bad guy slid against the vertical stabilizer on the jet plane balls first, in real life, he would have been damaged goods for life. Let's talk about Jamie Lee Curtis, always thought she was very sexy but, when I saw her strip down to her lingerie, she became super-sexy. I was like She's a BRICKHOUSE!!! I had a conniption. Eliza Dushku, who played the Arnie and Jamie's daughter in this movie, also played on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as Faith, a vampire slayer.

25:38 He told her to close her eyes. But you can't trust that! 🤣
I freaking love the best friend in this movie! He may not say the most appropriate stuff to his friend but he's always there for him and just being a bro. Even the way how he jokes and brings up certain things, like his 3 divorces and what kids get into, can just be him coping and keeping himself together. But by the end of the day, he still has Harry's back. Also, this movie is FINALLY getting a Blu-ray release on March 12th, 2024. Although through the 4K bundle deal, which can be a little price-y, but still better than not getting it at all.

He's an ass, he messed up and he freakin knows it, but it's always easier to lash out/react aggressive and treat her like one of the bad guys they routinely try to catch than own up to your mistakes - He knows how to catch the bad guy, knows what to do - talking to his wife he can't really figure out how to - so yeah, you get this mess of a plan - Basically boy sees girl - likes her, doesn't know how to deal with that and decides to do what he does with his buddies - fight, so he pulls her pigtails or something like that.

Some fun facts: Jamie Lee Curtis chose to do her own stunt for the car escape, as a birthday present for herself. The arm holding her is Cameron's. Also, when Curtis fell during the dance it wasn't planned. You can see Arnold almost break character. Cameron thought it was funny, so left it in.
@dabe1971

Sorry, your facts are wrong. The arm 'holding' her is that of Joel Kramer, Stunt co-ordinator who often doubled for Arnold. Jamie Lee is wired to the skid of the helicopter but Cameron was certainly close by because he was personally manning the camera taking the shot. Kramer faced several misconduct accusations during his career in the light of the 'MeToo' movement including from Eliza Dusku who was only 12 during shooting. And the story about the fall not being planned isn't true either. It wasn't in the script, but Cameron and Curtis came up with it on set. He whispered into her ear asking if she could let go of the pole. She did and she said it got the biggest laugh of her career.
