We got to the bit with the toadlets when my husband paused the video and asked me to explain how their jumps differ from the Leiopelmatid frogs that I got to help study in college. I gave him a nice, long explanation, and then we hit play only to find that that exact Leiopelma study was where Ze Frank was going next (and of course he explained it so much better). Brachycephalus fully deserve their win here, but I'm glad that more of the world will get a laugh from our beloved belly flopping Leiopelma 😂

@QuantumWaltz

@@neuralmute From what I understand, it seems to be that bamboo is such a terrible nutrient source that their bodies can't sustain estrus for much longer than a short 24-hour period... once a year. And, being that estrus also makes female mammals crankier, it's entirely possible for the female to kick the male's ass before any babymaking gets to happen. And wild pandas refuse to eat anything BUT bamboo. Other bamboo-reliant carnivorans are either much smaller, or have a wider diet, or both. Giant pandas just made the behavioral jump from an omnivorous diet to bamboo-only WAY too quickly and recently for their evolution to effectively keep up. Panda breeding programs often feed them "panda cake," a specially-formulated nutrient bar (which the pandas go gonzo over, so they do find it quite delicious despite a severe bamboo habit) that gives them a much wider estrus cycle. It's still only a few days a year, but enough to conceive relatively reliably, at least.

@@DaSauceDatsBoss 4 years, give or take. I remember being bummed out that he left, but remaining subbed for easy access to prior videos. Then, one day - a blessing!
ZeFrank AND Randy Rainbow drop videos on the same day?!? Better than Christmas, your birthday, and 4th of July all together. My inner 12 year old was overjoyed by poop tiddlywinks.
On one hand a three hour long version of this would be great, on the other, I would die from laughing.
I want ZFrank to narrate every single nature documentary on every weird creature on earth.
"Wha-uhh, Jerry, that didn't add gravitas..." As someone who works with a Jerry I can confirm this is 100% correct...
Ze you are a God amongst mortals. Thank you for your perpetual levity.
When I heard about Japanese bees and hornets I was expecting to hear about the bee-balling technique they use to kill invading hornets, but instead learned they plaster shit over their porch. Was not disappointed.

Yep, same here. Pretty neat they have more than just one way to repel unwanted guests.
No one makes me laugh like ZeFrank ... even the ads are hilarious: "They don't ship you a dead body--you can bring your own" 💀💀
0:05 I believe this is the first time in eight years that Ze Frank has announced the title “True Facts” out loud. Refreshing.
I am consistently astonished by the insane level of quirky detail presented in Ze Frank's videos. The humor and giggles are a tasty cherry on top! No joke, these are the. best. nature. videos. EVAHHHHHHHH

I often wonder what David Attenborough would make of his wonderful work… I have a hunch he would really enjoy it.

There are several reasons not to bring food with you when watching ZeFrank, but I still do. Every time. I don't care, this is my favorite channel ever. Thank you ZeFrank!

It's totally worth it
There will never be enough True Facts videos to satisfy me. Pure genius.
I love everything about these educational videos. The science is real and so are the laughs-down to the tiniest detail-classical music subtly playing in the background while animals frolic and fuck up.
New genre unlocked: Pregnant prairie dog upskirt
Lmfao... “ha bubra boobra bubra” that fucking pheasant piece had my fucking dying

It's not a pheasant however, it is a Sage Grouse, and the actual sound they make is wild
"Just so you don't think it's one drunk frog" I'm crying laughing so much I can hardly see.
When I saw that thumbnail, I LITERALLY did the slow, to-the-side head tilt* trying to figure out what I was looking at. (Are those...eyes?!) What a relief there isn't some animal with a face & 2, um, side trunk/legs. *Is there a Name for that? There Must be a name for that......
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m dying! The frogs: Leap. Thud! 😆 This was the best awards show that you will ever watch.
Thank you, Ze. Bringing smiles to people is truly noble work.
I have watched these videos for so long now they are a part of my growing memories. Thank you Zefrank for all the laughs so far
These never cease to fascinate *and* amuse.
8:08 To be fair, that's not the worst thing someone has done from being stopped from going to art school

Best college application statement ever: If I can't attend classes here in the fall, guess I'll just have to invade Russia over the winter
That's more meerkat anatomy than I ever wanted to know.
Another banger video😄love that u really go into topics no one talks about. Guess ill see u all in 2 weeks-month😫for the next one. Wish it was a weekly thing🥺
So amazing!! Thank you!
Finally someone who understands the true physical attributes needed to play a tiddlywinks shot successfully
I will always sit through all the commercials on Ze's channel. This man deserves every penny. Hilarious! Thanks for making the world a better place!
We need the red carpet scenes, along with the after party interviews.
The commercial was hilarious. “You can bring your own” 🤣
Ze, you have truly outdone yourself with this video! I was shocked, amazed, repulsed and crying with laughter during the "Fun Fashion on a Budget" section. Bravo!
💯 % ZeFrank for getting scientists/researchers work out to the public! Thank you you amazing man ♥ 🤗
Honest question: is there actually a "Jerry"? Or is Jerry a running gag? In any case - editing and scripts are brilliant. Big kudos to the whole team, how ever many of you there are. :)
I've learned more from ZeFrank than biology class.

The jokes in the main body are fine, but that he puts citations at the end makes this _authoritative_

Where else are you going to learn about the various amphibians that gave up on hearing & balance.
Love the source called "faecal firing in a skipper caterpillar is pressure-driven"
i woke up my roomates (2) laughing from your bit at 03:48. they have an exam tomorrow
I still want this guy to be a nature educator and PBS show host. His take on everything is totally awesome, disclaimer is perfect, and this stuff should be shared with children despite the disclaimer.
The fact that there are scientists out there painting the poop and poopers of bugs like fetish pornographers gives me an immense amount of joy, as the figuring out of the hows and whys of tiny bug poops gives the scientists joy. You've gotta be one quirky dude to look at a bug pooping and think, "Huh, I wanna know how it does that, but like REALLY KNOW..." and then spend years of your life dedicated to bug feces, no judgment. Must make for interesting dinner conversations.
I will literally never get tired of the transposed butt/but gag
I seriously love this channel! Such great content that I never knew I needed to know!
So good! Thanks!! 💜
"Alright, you're probably wondering what the f*ck is wrong with them." I love that delivery.
This is so educational and entertaining, you are fantastic. Thank you for making the world a better, smarter place.
I love that you add citations at the end.
