Trudeau threw house speaker “under the bus” over Nazi veteran "diplomatic disaster": Conservatives

After House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota resigned on Tuesday amid international controversy over his invitation to Parliament for a Ukrainian war veteran and who Rota says he didn't know also fought in a Nazi unit in the Second World War, Conservatives spent question period grilling the Liberals on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s role in what they called a “diplomatic disaster.”
“Has there ever been a greater diplomatic embarrassment in the history of our country?” Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre asked, referring to the Sept. 22 Ottawa incident. “And yet he can't even show up for work. Where is he and why is he hiding under a rock?”
“The Prime Minister just threw the speaker under the bus. But the truth is, the buck stops with him,” Conservative MP Marty Morantz added. “Will the Prime Minister finally take responsibility, do the right thing and apologize?”
Government House Leader Karina Gould, who previously questioned if Rota still had the Liberals’ support, said that the House Speaker did the “honourable thing” in resigning after the incident brought “shame and embarrassment” to Canada.

Because he doesn’t need to be there to represent his party except on issues that pertain to his political agenda. His party leaders are capable of representing him and his party in his absence, while he is supposed to carry out his duties as a prime minister elsewhere. Do I think this is something he should be present for? Meh. By making himself present, he makes it that much more of a big deal to the world and risks showing weakness defending himself during a time when Canada needs to appear politically strong. The opposition party obviously wants him ousted and replaced by someone in their own party despite how their hardline views of him and his responsibilities are creating an image of political weakness. On the flip side, if there was a time for Trudeau to rally Canadians behind with an inspirational speech of solidarity and Canadian pride, this was it. He missed a massive opportunity to prove he can be a real Canadian leader while standing defiantly against India’s crimes against Canada.

You can't blame the general MPs. Liberal, or conservative for Clapping for a Veteran. Many nations fought Russia during the WW2 period. It wasn't their business to know who the person was, it was those responsible for Security, the Speaker, and The Prime Minister. While an apology from them all would be welcome, demanding a resignation from them all is a bit much, since many of them, again, on both sides of the aisle, were likely blindsided by it. That said, the woman defending Trudeau and the other liberals should also resign. As she not only can't admit that something wrong was done, but deflects to other issues.

as a 69 year old , i have watched politics in this country for decades , liberals aren't perfect and pierre quite frankly , is too good to be true , he's gonna do better at everything , NOT , he's just using trump's playbook , I CAN FIX EVERYTHING , and I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN. how'd that work out for american's ? everytime conservatives get back in to power , expect cuts , lots and lots of cuts , that they blame on past governments , and if they can even balance the budget , they do it on the backs of average working canadians , and kiss up to the corporate world . this is their playbook and it has been for decades. political sleaze and unjust attacks against a leader , only to get power like pierre wants , and has been desperately trying to find a way to get a non confidence vote , and force an election earlier than it's due. i don't approve of any government members , especially at the top having youtube sites on social media , so they can push misleading information , just like pierre , and he makes sure to not post any negative opinions. i would have thought that politicians in canada would be smart enough to learn from , what social media has done to america. no politician should have a youtube site , they get enough exposure on television news , and newspaper interviews. do you honestly believe that conservatives would have given canadian's the financial help during covid that justin did , he got us through covid , the best way he could , like every other government across the world , we weren't prepared for this global pandemic , and that is why justin added so much to the debt , he had no choice as a leader , he put the people first , not the corporate world. that's why many were able to pay their rent when they were put out of jobs. but conservatives try to lose sight of covid causing enormous debt in the country , but they like to ignore the facts and give their misleading version of the real truth. just remember , pierre isn't perfect either , he just believes that , always easy to see things , looking from the outside looking in , but not knowing what it is like looking from the inside looking out . and hopefully pierre never gets that chance.
