    At that altitude, the normally aspirated engine (6.2 L) is at a serious disadvantage to the other forced induction engines. • @derekhale5565

    @derekhale5565

    2 жыл бұрын

    Not "quite" different. Turbos are going to help at elevation but will offer even more benefits at sea level. The only thing that might have changed is the GM beating the Toyota, but the Ford would have still won. It has more power and at lower RPM. Also it's nice to see these tests sometimes because people drive trucks at elevation, it's not like they purposely go out of their way to be a mile above sea level, they are in a location that millions of people live (at varying higher elevations, not just right there) or drive through. Trucks drive the Ike and other mount pass roads every day. It's good to see what someone may be dealing with going for the GM over the forced induction engines. If you buy that 6.2 and have to tow a heavy load up the Ike, better to know ahead of time how much it suffers in power doing so. If GM doesn't like the result they should stop being so lazy in engine design.

    I wonder the same thing. Financial advisors often say you shouldn’t have more than half of your annual income tied up in vehicles. So let’s say your wife has a decent small SUV, that’ll be around $35k. If you want a full size truck, even a fairly basic one, it’ll be about $55k. That leaves you with $90k total in vehicles, therefore you’d need a $180k yearly income to not break that rule. And neither of those vehicles are anything special

Quite frankly I'd probably take the tundra for a daily if I wanted to run forever. The Ford hybrid properly equipped can have some pretty cool features with pretty good power output through the hybrid system for RVs or covering your house during a power outage. The Chevy is probably the most simple to work on. Those engines have been around a long time. The TRX is just badass no matter what but absolutely unaffordable to drive even when you're not hauling ass

    The truck guys in my world like v8’s we can put exhausts on and tow trailers without needing repairs for 100k miles. The Chevy LS and LT and Ford 5.0 gave us those things. I’m not saying that change is bad, but closer to sea level we’re getting the same mpg out of our v8’s as that ecoboost. Al these people getting rich off of their “efficient” or “environmentally friendly” ideas are just robbing Peter to pay Paul and then bragging about how much better off Paul is with their policies. EV’s still wreck the environment, just in a way that isn’t commonly known to everyone yet because we’re being taught to ignore it by profit seekers. May be you guys should do another race - with all 4 trucks hauling a trailer, with "maximum tow load" what each truck rated (like for tundra its 12000lb), without 1/4 mile race - just normal daily driving and see who does better on mpg and fastest destination time, that would be really interesting to see!!! (Those reviews on up hill and braking application on the way back - they are cool, but most of us driving in cities or crawling in morning traffic, or aria without steep hills) Also it would be a great review for people who looking to get a truck for work and see what truck can do and how much it would cost at the end! Should do it without using the launch mode on the Ram! Plus you should have told your audience how the Ram probably used 1/4 tank of gas in that run.

    would like to see the tundra launch in 4x4. even with bad launch it had a higher mph than the ford and seemed to be catching up after it stopped spinning

    When you have excessive wheelspin on launch, it can often result in a higher trap speed. Some of my highest 1/4 mile trap speeds at the track were on street tires and had some wheelspin on launch. i do know tundras run really well. a friend owns an older v8 4wd one and ive seen racing vids with some of them.

    It is hard to drag race while looking around. How they can do it, beats me. That is why they are the professionals. My head and eyes would be straightforward until I crossed that line like a track meet.
