Truck making a tight turn from Queens Boulevard in Long Island City, Queens, NYC

A truck makes a tight turn from Queens Boulevard in Long Island City onto Skillman Avenue. There isn't enough clearance for the truck and 3 vehicles were forced to back up.

Its all about making room for your trailer to turn on the blind, inside turn. But then again, i was born & raised in the old school way, with old school trucks, & learning how to make room on both inside & outside turns. Our old school truck tractors were alot longer than these shorter ones with the setback axles, which required longer turning radius's. Truck safe everyone.

Lucky that the cars had room to back up, if there’d been a long line of cars then they’d all be stuck and blocked intersection, I woulda used whole intersection and oncoming lane to make a wider turn, but you wouldn’t catch me driving in nyc haha wtf is that a truck route even ?? Insane

3 months in on my CDL, freshly off the trainer's truck, they gave me a load for the Bronx! I walked in to our office with my CDL in hand...up to dispatch. "I might as well give u this now and save y'all the trouble." They took the load off and sent me up i-80. Appreciate it. 🤔

People please be patient and don't cut in front of a semi it's not easy stopping 80,000 pounds. Think the average car is 4,000 pounds. Think how long it takes to stop your car times 20! And please don't txt and drive. I see people all day long almost hit someone including me because there distracted on there phone. It can wait :)

@@leroynorville4129 you move them forward actually for a tighter turning radius but then you have to watch out for tail swing. Kinda like a school bus. We move our tandems for weight distribution. You can only be 34,000 on the trailer and the drives of the truck and 12,000 on the steer axle. On a spread axle you can go 40,000. Some spreads will allow you to dump the rear axle so you can make tighter turns with out damaging the tires or twisting the trailer too much.
