The driver must have made a wrong turn, and was trying to get back on the right road. I know it's NYC, but people should have tried to help him instead of being so impatient.

mrbr549 Yes this is true. I drove a big truck into NYC several times going to Hunts Point. I made a wrong right turn and was stuck in the intersection. Thank goodness the Fire Dept was able to help me out. The police were kind enough to help also. I only had to go down one more block for the correct right turn. People in cars, not so much.

Pennsylvania drivers did this to me, I was stuck in a left turn only as i realized it was a turn that I couldn't make and didn't look good. They sat there beeping and no one even slowed down or stopped to let me over when I had my right turn signal on. Had to cut to the right lane once the light turned red and force my way over

Wow! People are so impatient! This was incredible!

As a truck driver myself for the last 12 years, those people are making the situation worse. The drivers nerves are already likely shot, all the distractions from honking cars and cars moving around not giving him the space he needs make it 10 fold worse. This driver made a huge mistake, but it happens all the time. If people are patient, it makes it alot easier for the driver to sort out and get his rig outta the way.

That's NYC! Drivers have very limited patience!

Driver may have become misdirected, whatever. People forget he’s trying to make a living, too & brings everything we use in everyday life.

This is what happens when inexperienced drivers make two mistakes. 1. Follow GPS religiously 2. Fail to call shipper, receiver, or dispatch for specific directions. People get really mad at truckers, but most of the time they forget we're not from the big cities we deliver in. It can be hard to navigate a big truck in an unfamiliar area.

Shoot the only times I ever had bad directions was directly from shipping personnel…. Lady had me in an apartment complex in Chicago driving a condo pulling a 53 reefer…. 😂 I’ve learned to use my Garmin OTR and Google maps to pretty much eliminate confusion once I get close to where I’m going… but yes this is all a learned process… Sometimes shit just happens though

So many helpful people out there rushing to the stores that semitrucks deliver to.....

I believe that happened near 84-01 Forest Pkwy, Queens, NY 11421, the driver probably was on Jamaica Ave then he turned into Forest Pkwy, Thanks to good Samaritan that told him to turn right that was a GREAT idea, because that would bring him back onto Woodhaven Blvd which is a Truck Route 👍👏

No compassion for someone who makes a wrong turn. Mistakes happen on the road. No one willing to help the man, just rather taunt him with their stupid horns. Shows how self centered and me driven this wicked world is. As a truck driver I’ve been in awkward positions when it would have made a world of difference if one individual helped me out of a jam due to a mistake I made. Instead you have a bunch of mindless 4wheelers blaring their horns because for their self important attitude. One day each and every one of those people will be in a position when they wished someone would help them, and the help won’t be there. Shameful society.

That is crazy, what a mess. In the end everyone seemed to get around it in less than a few minutes, so all in all. it was ok. It's funny how 5 minutes of delay can ruin some people's day

The first car in the lane should have driven back in order to make it easier on the truck driver to move out of that mess, but Americans are so caught up in their rights that, in their minds, they say things like, "I'm on my lane...he's the one who shouldn't be doing this...I'm staying where I am", without the slightest capacity to realize that, by doing so, he/she is hurting himself/herself and the rest of the people trapped in that traffic jam.

Having driven on this road thousands of times I know how hard it is with a larger sedan. I can't imagine trying to get a truck through here. ActionKid really is EVERYWHERE in the city.

I would never drive truck in NYC.

It made my butt pucker with seeing cars turning blindly and nearly hitting. The truck driver did a good job without hitting anything or destroying property.. Had I been there I would have pulled over and got out to help him.. Hands up to the driver who had the patients to deal with that.

People are pricks. If the cars would calm the hell down then he could do what he needs. Also here is a tip for 4 wheelers. When you see a lane is merging due to construction, do not wait to get over at the end. You are turning what should be a smooth transition and continuous flowing into a stop sign because now its, go one, let one in, go one, let one in. And if you see us in trucks backing up stop and give space. We cannot see you and zipping around is not only dangerous but rude to others because we have to stop again and wait until clear. Your day will not change from waiting a minute. One more tip, if it is stop and go traffic, you are not going to get anywhere faster by lane switching every ten feet. It is not a line at a counter so cutting gets you nowhere.

Also when a truck has to get in the left lane because there is a vehicle parked on the side of the road DO NOT immediately get in the right lane to try to pass the truck because the truck WILL be getting right back over as soon as they get passed the vehicle in the side of the road & you may be hit if he doesn’t see you get over fast enough AND all you’re doing is holding up traffic isn’t the left lanes forcing the driver to be there longer! Law says trucks have to get over for especially ambulance & fire trucks!

Zipper merge is actually more smooth flowing if done correctly. If everyone gets over early then you end up with one long line of traffic, which turns into stop and go, and one empty lane.

This is why no one delivers in NYC

Everybody complains, but nobody helps. It just takes one or two persons to help with the traffic and this would be solved in a few minutes.

Well as a trucker I’ll tell you that some companies seemingly have a problem with us driving at night & refuse to make appointments for night driving. Most of us actually prefer to drive at night & BEG dispatch to let us!

As a trucker I know that I have to follow my trucker gps or a trucker app. Apple Maps will not tell you if trucks are not permitted and signs aren’t always posted.

Dont accept loads in NYC

Please do not bring large 18 wheelers into NYC on surface streets because they are not well designed to handle them. If possible, please use a smaller truck for local deliveries.

That's why you pretrip & LOOK on a GPS app in the area your going. Seeing the best way in & the best way out!! Last thing you want to happen is this shit right here

This happens Every day! Out of state trucks using the wrong type of GPS because they're looking for the nearest McDonald's. He was probably on the way to the Jackie to go smack up the overpass.

If people would just move out of the way and let him get turned around correctly he would be out of there a lot faster and they could move on a lot sooner. When everybody is impatient and selfish and tries to push their way through and gets in his way it just makes everything take way longer. For the people against the truck driver how about before you open your mouth you try driving a 80 ft truck through a tight area and let's see how you do? It's not easy and nobody's perfect everybody makes a mistake. He obviously took a wrong turn Probably on an area that he can't take that truck. Hence the need to turn around, give him a little bit of space help him out spot for him and I promise you he'll be out of the way a lot faster and you could be on your way

And this is why so many guys refuse to go to NYC. I've told my wife many times that we can go almost anywhere in the world on vacation but if she wants to go to NYC, she's going alone. I even offered to give her the NYC experience at home. I mugged and stabbed her. See honey, you got the same experience but look how much money we saved.

Clearly this driver needs help this truck needs help Believe it or not driving a semi truck is a tough thing to do because when you have Garmin Garmin sometimes messes you up Garmin has messed me up more times than I can count. And if you've never been into an area or you turn down the wrong road because I got construction or whatever they got going on a semi truck is 65 ft long roughly if it has a reefer or whatever it has on it. Instead of honking your horn once you get out and help the driver back his truck up so he can get out of that situation. You guys all want your goods and services well guess what your goods and services come with a price that stress that that driver's feeling right there could cause him him or her to just quit the trucking industry all together and then there's more delays for your for your goods and services and so instead of criticizing him or her once you help out we are Americans we are united states of America. We're supposed to be united why can't we all just be united and help a brother out

I see nothing wrong here from the truck driver .
