Truck Camping in Death Valley | Titus Canyon & Racetrack Playa
This week we hit the trail with the Overland Bound Las Vegas group!
It was a jam packed trip - Titus Canyon Trail, Racetrack Playa, Teakettle junction, Truck camping, Tembo Tusk camp pizza, craters and much more!
Titus Canyon is a 27 mile long ONE WAY road, starting off Hwy 374 (down the road from Beatty, NV.) It took about 2 hours to get to the Trail head from Las Vegas. Get gas in Beatty because its one of the last options to get gas in the area after you get through Titus Canyon! On the trail, there are a bunch of climbs, descends, washboards, a few holes but nothing major. You can easily run the road with a 2wd rig.
Titus Canyon Trail Starting coordinates: 36.859200, -116.846494
Teakettle Junction (on the way to Racetrack Playa): 36.760456, -117.541609
RaceTrack Playa: 36.682666, -117.572328
Campsite coordinates (Past Racetrack Playa in an area where you are allowed to camp): 36.637492, -117.574068
Ubehebe Crater: 37.014393, -117.453789
Note: you are not allowed to camp anywhere near RaceTrack Playa.
Let me know if you have any questions about the trip! It was a full day of exploring and pretty tiring if you do Titus and go all the way through to our camp spot for the night. The road on the way to the Playa is full of washboards and the area we ended up camping at for the night had a few campers there already so the sooner you get there the better!

Awesome video. I did Death Valley in February. Titus Canyon was awesome. Road to race track playa was insane, not very enjoyable but camp sight was good. When we went it had a massive drop in temperatures at night reaching 18 degrees I believe. Glad you had a good time man

The trail to Racetrack got pretty tiring, those damn washboards beat you up lol especially if you've already been driving for like 5+ hours (2 hours from home to get to Titus and then 3 hours through Titus) we easily put in 7 hours behind the wheel that day. And it did get cold! lol right when that sun went down the temps dropped. thanks for watching man

Great vid. Luv the channel. Leaving with 9 rigs for DV this Monday. Unfortunately, I gotta cut my trip short (3 nights instead of 4) and head back to the SF Bay ahead of the gang. Our group is undecided if we will camp somewhere in Titus Canyon OR find a spot in Racetrack. Question: After leaving Racetrack Playa which route did you ended up taking back home? TIA! - Rey

Hey Rey! Glad you enjoy the channel! Sounds like a great trip! Have fun out there. When we left Racetrack we went back the same way we came in, passing by Tea kettle junction and toward the crater.. Someone mentioned an alternative route from Racetrack but that its a crazy trail out and wouldnt recommend it for any stock rigs
