Trua has lost every older orca he was close to. Katina dislikes him so Makaio is really it. If something were to happen to Makaio he'd have nobody unless they moved him.

My question would be is, if the matriarch dies at sea world how do they go about learning? Who is the new matriarch? Let’s just say there’s no more females and it’s just a pod of Males if they have no matriarch, do they have no want to tell them what to do and they just do what they want?

Matriarch means a female leader. Tilikum was a submissive male, he never Lee anything.

When Katina dies, Nalani or Malia would take over. If there are only males, they will have their own relationship and hierarchy, which works very well. Killer whales are extremely fluid and adaptable in their behavior. Only the residents of Alaska-Washington have given this rigid idea of "one way to be a killer whale", which is not true. Transients live in small pods of a few females and their young offspring, old males may live alone. They fluctuate their relations and don't necessarily stay together for life. Icelandic males leave their natal pods as they mature, while the American residents stay (Icelandic whales eat both fish and mammals and defy the "resident/transient" categorization). And these are just three ecotypes out of 18+!

Seriously, just think about it for a minute and realize how harsh that is. It's not like you're keeping a hyperactive dog indoors. It's an animal that lives in the vastness of the ocean and moves around in a way that humans can't imagine, and an aquarium of that size is the human equivalent of being locked in a one-square-foot cell for the rest of your life.

They don't live "in the vastness of the oceans", they live in very specific ranges, in the same inlets and sounds, and travel only to find food. Dogs come from wolves, which travel miles in pursuit of prey. Dogs are still pursuit hunting masters. Parrots can fly 500 miles in one day, but we put them in tiny cages. Horses can run 40 miles in one day, they belong on the vastness of the Eurasian steppe which they traveled endlessly, yet we put them in stalls and paddocks. Humans can run 150 miles in one day, we walked all over the planet, yet do we want to?

Horrible collapsed dorsel fins. Horrible music played to them every day in the shows which must drive them mad. Circling in concrete tanks. Animal cruelty at it's worst.

It's nit horrible, it's just gravity. They find it reinforcing to stay at the surface where their beloved trainers are, and a huge piece of collagen like that has no chance to stay upright out of the water. They aren't "circling", they're engaged, happy, socializing and acting /exactly/ like normal, wild killer whales are. Stop spreading misinformation, you're embarrassing yourself.

Don't tell me this isn't cool or that these whales seem unhappy or crazed. They eat and play all day....too bad activists forced Seaworld to separate sexes and give them contraceptives, It's kind of fucked up to not let intelligent mammals breed

That activist Ingrid vissar is real annoying. She tried helping a lone baby orca in puget sound a couple years back and well it died. She has no idea how to care for a orca yet criticizes others.
