they played top level but not at the level of the player they are talking about, Mason achieved in his first years more than these two combined in their entire carreer. Deeney was mostly a Championship player not even top level. has a few seasons. Darren Fletcher is also better than both you combined.

I’ve said it before, Mount is an average player who rode a wave of British media hype to get a move to United. He had maybe one ok season for Chelsea 3 years ago and that’s it. He was effective when he was actually working hard for the team and putting in a shift. Especially when you watch his time at Derby when he was still trying to prove himself. Then he won the CL with Chelsea that season and he was never the same after that. You would see him doing everything outside football like modelling and social media while delivering stinkers on the pitch. Was glad when he left and we got decent money for him.

Took me a while to see it. But once he left, i realised what you're saying, it's true. He never pushed on from that UCL winning season. Just loves stat padding against lower teams.

Agreed. Honestly I never had much time for him. I've seen enough of players who believe their own hype to the point of thinking they no longer need to work. He should have been taking a leaf out of Lampard's book and working harder; instead he seemed to think he was Eden Hazard. The whole 'home' thing at Old Trafford was just icing on the transfer fee for me. I don't remember a young academy player at Chelsea being so over hyped on so little evidence.

Totally agree. I was a lonely Chelsea season ticket holder who rarely had time for Mount. Too many games full of complete anonymity. Fans are obviously desperate to have a young homegrown superstar but I'm too old for fixating on all that myself. We had other young players who were always ahead of him for me; not least Reece James who had to wait far too long to get a regular start.

If you had to name an all-time worst United XI that only included players who played over 100 times for the club, then Fletcher would be the first name on the list! He couldn't run, cross, head, shoot, pass or beat a player and the only time he wasn't terrible is when United were playing tough games and the only thing Fergie wanted him to do was run about the middle of the field and hustle and harry the opposition's best midfielder.
