TROY-BILT TROYBILT PONY LAWN TRACTOR WONT START - DIY - STARTER SOLENOID - LAWNMOWER REPAIR

Troybilt Troy-Bilt Pony lawn tractor lawnmower wouldn't start today. No click or anything. Diagnosed the starter solenoid was bad and replaced it and voila... we are back baby! Total cost $14 @ lowes. One note is that the new solenoid is a four-terminal while the old one is a three-terminal. There is a jumper provided to ground the extra terminal.

Thanks for the video. I changed the solenoid, checked the fuse, and was getting ready to test the starter. Then I saw you talking about the three safety switches. I couldn't see the one at the PTO cable. But when I engaged and disengaged the blade a couple of times, the mower started right up!

I suspect a similar problem with a Troy-Bilt Pony I recently was given. The battery checks good, but before I buy an unneeded solenoid, I want to first check the ignition switch.

You do not I repeat do not have to have someone in the seat to start the mower, just have to have the parking brake engaged. Also you can unplug the switch at the seat if one wants to. I unplugged mine so I could get off the mower with the blades still engaged ( in case I needed to move something and didn't want to disengage to get off the mower) but that's me I'm not suggesting to someone with children to do this, just saying it can be done.

good content on the mower. thank you for your time. here is one question you could solve for me. mine will not start. dont know if you still have that mower, but i am having trouble with mine. it is the same as the one you have, my problem is . . . the fuse box. one wire goes into the harness, the other is loose and i do not know where it was attached to. do a video of where the wires go, especially the loose one [ the one that is not in the wire harness ] . plz do not make the vid short. mower has no juice at the ignition switch because of that wire. thank you . good content !

update on my mower : someone repurposed the 2 main power wires . red wire and the double red/white wire the problem with the mower that i have was someone crossed the solid red wire with the ground red/white stripe wire . red wire [ starter jumper wire for solenoid ] red wire/ white stripe [ ground wire for hot side of solenoid for the carburetor ] ( is tied in with the safety switch [[ both of them . . .is like a secondary hot wire ]] . everytime i turned the key to crank it , the starter would have a slight click. had to remove the wires from the computator plug with a 90 degree awl to bend the metal catch so i could get it out, and put it in the place it was supposed to be for to begin with. when i had recieved the new ignition switch, all the letters were in the wrong place. had to result to the O.G. ignition switch. good news is, that if i need a new ignition switch, i can always move the female spade terminal plugs to where they are supposed to be. going to make a small correct color wire spade plug so i will know where the wires will go.

Dear Friends. Please, help. My left (Driver side. The one with the adjustment gear) of the deck is high. The right side (passenger side. grass outlet side) is low. When lever is on position 4, i.e. the second highest, the right side of the deck scrapes the grass! The gear is all the way up. I.e "Driver side" of the deck is all the way down, but still too high. Do I need a new deck? New tractor? Thanks in advance.

I discovered one rear tire was underinflated even though it didn't appear to be when I looked at it when I was standing off to the side. I accidentally leaned on it and that's when I discovered it was substantially underinflated. That was my problem.

@@wessdad4439 This was exactly my problem.. When you look, it appears fine. However, when you check with the gauge, it is very low. When you press with a shoe, it flexes more. And finally, when you add a human weight, then the difference is big.

@@jonathan3982 I realized that the problem is in the tires. Suddenly they started to leak a lot. Now I am at the point to adjust pressure before each cut. I added green slime in both tubed and tubeless tires, and it may help just a little bit. Nope. green slime is POJ.
