Trout of Newfoundland

Ойын-сауық

New Truck and Mule fishing adventures of Newfoundland. We are in search of some trout to fillet switching it up a little from the regular pan size trout we normally go for. We are fishing a place I haven't fished in over 30 years and it's good to see you can still catch nice trout here. No problem to catch 5lb trout in this system.

Yes we have caught many fine trout out of this place over the years. Many of five pounders we caught. Now-a-days they seem to average from 12" to 3 lbs.

Hey Charlie, gear looks good bud......no reason to not get some fishin in now eh, only thing is u will have to walk where only a tracker could go ahahaha. Lloyds River is a place I used to get to years ago with dfo when the fry was taken from hatchery at Noel Pauls Brook to some of the rivers inland. Some great fishing in there 4 sure with some big ones too esp b4 the access roads opened up a lot of new country.

Yes I spent some time out there years ago as well. Exploring the new ponds as the road went further and further into the country. Sure didn't take long for it to get fished out though...

I'm glad you enjoyed it. We each rose and stuck trout that was much bigger than this one in the 5 plus pound range. I'll have to make another trip in there in a week or two.... Yes Chuck it don't take long for ponds and there feeder systems to get fished out. Some folks will hit those areas day after day until there is nothing left and then complain about it... Placed like these are meant to go in 2 to 3 times a year for a feed of trout for yourself and for the elders. I use to like to fish a spot between Goose and Churchill called mile 85 lake/lakes. Nice trout in there. Beautiful place to kayak and when you where lucky you'd get sung to by the wolves in the area and loons on the lakes... Add in the early morning Lady of the mist and slow rising glow of sun and it made for some very special memories.

Mine has a zipper as well. Love not having those shoulder straps restricting your movements as well. As long as simms makes the guide pants I'll be wearing them. With my bad ankle I don't wade out into deeper waters or attempt questionable river crossing any more so the guide pants get me into all the water I need to for my fishing needs. It's like wearing a pair of pants... Only thing I wish is that the ankle boots didn't get so heavy when soaked with water. Funny thing about fishing here in NL, every good fishing hole is a good walk and it's always over the longest steepest hills... After and day of fishing having to walk up out of those rivers valleys with leaded boots (LOL) is sure hard on the old gear like Cousin Jack always says.
