You had to be pretty hardcore to still be doing this in 91. The rave scene had seen the numbers drop off significantly at the end of the 80's. Seems to be quite a high proportion of older faces, probably not the types to be getting 'on one' at the weekends. It never fully went away, but nothing like the numbers involved pre Acid House. It picked up again in the mid 90's when clubbing got boring and people wanted a different type of buzz, but the Old Bill were far more on top by then, they had cameras everywhere and every force had football intel officers spoiling the fun. The sentences were ramped up as well, especially if it wasn't your first rodeo, far higher chance of getting put behind a door rather than a fine put a lot of people off. Nobody wanted to miss seeing their Mrs and kids for a year, losing their job and livelihood for a punch up at football. It was fun whilst it lasted, but honestly, I enjoy seeing kids and women at games these days, without having to think about how safe they might be or how risky going to an away game could be. It's fun watching the Stone Island Schooligans cosplaying as hooligans as well, 13 year olds trying to intimidate people.
