Everyone already loves RDJ but holy shit i cant imagine how anyone made it through a single scene without cracking here. As funny as it is to watch kirk lazarus stay in character in black face the entire time, on set theres and added layer of RDJ playing lazarus, hes a dude playing a dude, playing another dude who's disguised as yet another dude. I dunno if they talked much about behind the scenes antics but i have to assume RDJ was just walking around making people spit out their coffee all day lol.

My favorite Mel Brooks quote about blazing saddles. "We couldn't make the movie then either, but we did." If you make something of quality, it can skirt the line and still be good. I mean, hell, RDJ got so much shit for this movie before members of the black community spoke up in his defense.

@@michaelsublet3283 From wikipedia: Blackface is the practice of non-Black performers using burnt cork or theatrical makeup to portray a caricature of Black people on stage or in entertainment. This is literally what RDJ's character does in this movie. He changes his appearance to look black, then portrays an extremely stereotypical and overdone version of a black man.

The character of Less Grossman has only aged better, like a fine wine. Because Tom essentially wrote the character himself, and said he was inspired by Harvey Wienstein, who he always felt was a tool, and an ass. And this was before the scandal broke. So it just makes it even better knowing the origin of the character lol Edit: it's also fun to know, Ben originally took the movie to Cruise (since they are friends) to have him read, and give feed back on the script. Tom thought it was absolutely hilarious, but was missing something. He said "there needs to be some kind of urgency or pressure for them to get the movie done, where's the studio in all of this?" They then rewrote the script together and added the Less Grossman character as the industry typical movie producer/studio exec. Theres a whole interview out there on You-tube where Ben explains it all better than I 😂

"Man, I don't drop character 'till I done the DVD commentary." Fun Fact: When recording the audio commentary for the Unrated DVD and Blu-ray, Robert Downey, Jr. actually spends the entire commentary in the character that appears on the screen as the movie progresses. Historical Fact: The South East Asian gang Flaming Dragon, led by a pre-teen boy, was modeled after God's Army, a guerrilla army in Myanmar. The group was led by twin brothers Johnny Htoo and Luther Htoo, who were nine years old when it was founded in 1997. Johnny and Luther Htoo were fond of American action movie heroes, especially the Rambo franchise. Cruise Unbound Fact: Ben Stiller said nearly all aspects of the Les Grossman character were developed by Tom Cruise, including the dancing and the look of the make-up. Stiller said that in addition to the more obvious make-up effects applied to Cruise's face and head, and the extra hair on his chest and arms, Cruise also decided to play the character wearing oversized prosthetic hands.

It was when he was playing the poppy farmer, but doing it as Lincoln Osiris, instead of Kirk Lazarus just using his masterful acting to do it accurately. Downey was like 3 layers deep in performance and it just hit like a brick how darn incredible he did with the role.

Didn't think anything could top Arianna's reaction to this, but you two cracking up with uncontrollable laughter through was just amazing! Seems like the perfect opportunity for Chad to combine this with Arianna's video and make a third video in the style of those lame compilations that some creators on youtube make from other peoples content.

fun fact, during the mtv movie awards which this movie was nominated for some/an award. For promotion material and a tribute Tom cruise came out in full make up as the character and did a live performance, even danced with Jlo. Idk if you can find the entire footage.

Hyperbole aside, this might be one of the funniest movies every made. The satire is razor sharp, it takes some really risky chances, the performances are career bests from a few people, and it's a solid parody.
