This is actually epic. I can hear this song as the theme for a western... not Tryna be dramatic but I actually can. You know when period films marry historic setting with modern music. Well this is like that. Love this song.

It's the song that plays over a bittersweet love scene between two doomed lovers in an anachronistic western directed by Baz Luhrmann. Seriously though, I love how Trixie turned it into a rich, epic Ennio Morricone fantasy with the orchestral arrangement, forlorn whistles, and trumpet melody. Honestly, one of my favorite covers ever.

Sometimes I sit and think about 19 year old Brian Firkus, sitting in his dorm room, dreaming of this. If everything else I ever see in my lifetime breaks my heart, it’s the little stories like this, where a truly deserving person gets to see their dreams come true, that will sustain me. I was in theater school in 2006 and I’m glad you made it, Trixie. You’re the best of all of us.

I absolutely adore Trixie and her music, how hard they both have worked.. and continue to do so. Success couldn't have happened to more deserving people. Back when I was Brian's age it was a horrible thing to be gay, I am so happy things have changed enough so both him and Katya can give us the best part of themselves. Way to go ladies... I'm with you. I'm still emotional over it. That it's not just a good performance, but that Trixie is literally singing out an experience every gay person suffers through, and that Trixie is doing this in drag _and_ as a sweet southern girl. It's like: And now, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome a boy who likes boys, dressed as a girl, singing a song about having unrequited love for a boy, who can't love them regardless of what they do because they are the same sex. Man, does this tear open some deep, deep wounds. And they're put against a soundtrack that couldn't have been written or performed better, nor could have had a better performer perform it. Just... immaculate. I'll probably never forget this.

Yeah, the lyrics are more impactful and cool for me coming from Trixie than Lana. I’m like ‘Yes Trixie! undress that sundress for your man!” And I also in general prefer this arrangement

My first comment (that I deleted after several edits... while trying to find the best descriptive adjectives to describe this song) made me feel like an idiot, because it is so different. I didn’t recognize it. I like Lana Del Ray a lot too, but I am a casual fan of her’s. I think this song is haunting, emotive, and incredibly beautiful. I could go on forever with adjectives to praise this piece, but I already feel like an igit. Trixie is a masterful artist.

I absolutely didn't even recognize this as that song. This song is in a way haunting. I get u not being able to articulate bc I'm exactly the same sis. It's haunting, but in a way safe. I know it is all contradictory. Like it's a live song but at the same time it's sad.

@@WickID74 I truly and wholeheartedly didn't recognize this song until I listened to it a few times over, Trixie really made it in her vision, which I adore. I love Lana's original video and song, but this cover is probably my favorite of all time. Trixie is amazing at conveying the emotion wrapped up in this song.
