I thought with that bike loaded up with panniers. You may have come close to scraping them. The Tiger is not a sport bike. Sport Touring…YES! But it does like to be ridden spiritedly in the twisties. Handles better than most think. I own one myself. Couldn’t be happier. Great video Schaff!

The order really doesn't matter, there's only three cylinders so there's only one possible order, plus its reverse. Reverse orders sound the same It's the firing _intervals_ that matter. Ordinary triples are 240-240-240, this T Plane is 270-270-180 degrees between ignitions. That's not unlike a 90 degree V twin, or a 270 parallel twin: 270-450. It's also entirely deliberate on Triumph's part. The "whistle" comes from the straight cut gears driving the balance shaft. The T plane crank is not any better (or worse) for balance than a normal triple, so the whistle carried over to the 900.

It sounds like a 270° parallel twin because..... it is.... plus another 'bang' 90° later. Think of it like a V4 with one cylinder removed in terms of sound.

Could most likely be the addition of luggage weight making ground clearance less. I set my rear preload to rider and luggage even when I don't have any luggage, set the damping to full sport, and get more ground clearance to ride more sportier. Love that t-plane triple sound, reminds me of what yamaha did with the crossplane 4. Nice riding as always Schaaf.

This bike is stupidly easy to ride. I thought, coming from a Street triple 765rs (you should get one of those btw. I know you love them and trust me, it's a treat to own one and even ride it on the daily 😁) that this would be a heavy, ungainly motorcycle that would be quite challenging to ride. Omg i could not have been more wrong. After spending some time adjusting the suspension (showroom setting was a water bed...) getting the levers in the right place etc, within 20s of me pulling out I was SO comfortable. Except, of course, for the more forward placed footpegs. My feet kept missing them as I pulled away from traffic lights. But man, I was doing things with this in heavy traffic I would never DARE on my baby, the 765rs. Rode it like quite a tool tbh haha but it was SO fun when I did. And the wind screen is excellent. Cruising at 150kmph with no hassles at all. Great great bike.

Great video! I love the sound of the Tiger 900 Gt Pro. In my case the base sound of the my new brand Tiger 900 GT Pro is very similar to this one, but when accelerating and reaching the 3000 rpm a background high pitched sound, similar to the crackling or pinging that the metallic objects do when cooling after heating them up can be perceived. I can perceive this sound also in the video when listened with headphones but maybe in my case is way more noticeable. Is that normal? What is the cause?

A little late to answer, but it might actually just be your keys/fob. I used to have a bunch of keys hooked together including my ear plug case (a metal cylinder) and it would reverberate like crazy based on engine rpm. Cleaned it up and tucked the ear plugs by some wires every time I fire the bike up and it's basically gone. ... If it's something else entirely that you discovered let me know lol.

  • @javieroldan

@@JelloThatsMellow thank you for your answer. I eventually found the origin of this sound and it was the fact that the fog light was loose and therefore vibrating when the Tiger started to reach some rpms. I took the bike to the workshop and they tightened it and problem solved! Now it sounds great!

Is that scratchy sound the limiters touching the asphalt? That speaks to the ease and reliability when shortening the bike in curves, right?

Man sollt dann wissen was man tut ;-)

Yeee! I've tested the Rally Pro version. The suspension is excellent! Engine is as powerful as you need (for my taste) but I felt some vibrations). With the 21" front wheel it steers ok at medium to high speed, but at lower speeds feels clumsy (again for my taste) that's for sure.

I have a 2020 GT. I had a 2015 800 XCx. Very different bikes. The 800 triple was more of a typical Triumph triple. It made more of its' power up top and had that triple sound. The 900 feels more powerful, especially down low. It make a ton of torque all the way from the bottom. Which is better? Depends on what you are doing and how you ride. I miss my 800 for reasons and love my 900 for reasons. The 900 is paid for so it's staying in the garage and I add a Streetfighter V2 or a Speed Triple

But DCT lost a lot of fun on clutching. In TW, dealer offers Rally Pro & GT Pro with Brembo brake, TPMS, quickshifter, fog light, rear rack. By contrast, Africa Twin is cheaper and without those stuff. I still thinking about decision. Would you give some suggestions?
