People bemoan the end of production of the Daytona 955i and Sprint RS so when Truimph actually make something similar with top notch build quality, suspension, engine and brakes, yet reviewers then moan about the riding position yet cannot find any actual faults with it. This bike is for those who love the brand, the RS1200 engine and chassis but want some form of wind protection and also a riding position that is superior for track riding. Having ridden supernakeds for a few years, I now own an RR after being sold after a test ride. The suspension and brakes are simply the best I have ever experienced, the engine is perfect for the road and it loves to rev for track. The riding position is fine, noting near as extreme as a new fireblade or ZX10, yet not as sit up and beg as the likes of an RS660. When you ride fast on track, wide bared supernakeds become a little unstable at high speed and you just do not get the feeling on the front end you get with clip-ons. My advice, test ride one and if you are considering one, you will be sold on it.

I just bought the red version. It is NOT a sport bike but a Retro naked bike. A true 21'st century Cafe Racer. It looks fabulous next to my Thruxton R with it's classic fairing. The RR is at home on long twisties and not slow country roads like you are riding. It's a track day canyon carving machine.

I test rode one and fell in one with it. I found the riding position wasn’t as extreme as a dedicated sports bike, the brakes and suspension are phenomenal, power delivery perfect, and it just looks gorgeous. Trouble is I just can’t justify spending 18k on what would essentially be a toy! I also think that options such as tpms and heated grips should be standard at that price point.

Great vid Andy, I think the indicator may be down to the settings. On the advance setting sliding the switch only activates a quick flash (lane changing etc.), to activate the full indicator you have to slide it for an extra split second. You get used to it after a while and I find it really useful for overtaking / lane changing etc. You can turn this setting off and have normal 'self cancelling' or no cancelling at all.

Hi Mr Flyer! First time I’ve left a comment on your channel, so I’ll take the opportunity to say how much I enjoy your content. I’m with you when you say this triple looks so much better in the ‘flesh’ so to speak. However, rather than try to categorise it too much and compare it with others I recon I could love it as the kind of very handsome bike you park up and give a few proud glances back at. Oh and can’t resist saying, I recon the classic bike you spotted on your run was a Suzuki GT 750….lovely. Look forward to your next one 👍

A friend of mine just bought one of these. I'll get to check it out in a few hours. Hopefully at some point I'll get to take it out for a ride to check it out properly. I've ridden his 2020 Street Triple RS and 2016 Thruxton 1200 R and both are excellent bikes but I fell in love with the Thruxton R. So now I need one of those or possibly a Speed Twin.

Update on previous comments. I've now ridden my 1200rr on the track. Bike replaced my 1299 panigale which I thought I would miss on the track. I didn't miss the Pani at all which shows me how good the 1200rr is. I'm about half way up the fast group but shows me you have to be really super fast to exploit the extra performance the panigale can give you. Plus 1200rr is easier to ride on the track than the Pani. So for me it's a great all round sports bike

Another beautiful bike from Triumph, Great to see the reviews of the bikes you test ride, I'm not in the market for a new bike but the cost would put me off and the fact that I can no longer ride anything with a sports bike riding position ,Not that I have ever owned a sports bike or had the desire for one have tried a few out years ago wasn't for me , , I like the more upright touring bikes ,

You're right about the indicator problem Andy, I'd a similar problem with my Street triple , to indicate left you had to hold the indicator switch against the stop for a second minimum, when I mentioned this at the first service they opened it up and said it was a faulty contact which they replaced, problem solved.

Glad you're recovering from Covid Andy. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I tend to agree that it will only appeal to those that like the look. A bit like my Thruxton R which I updated with the Cafe Fairing, Vance and Hines exhaust etc.. IMHO, it looks really amazing, sounds fantastic, and rides wonderfully, but those lowered clip-ons makes the riding position really uncomfortable. The longest ride I have done in one day was 250 miles and I was completely fatigued, wrists throbbing and left it in the garage for a month. So I went out and bought an R1250GS (of which I am very, very grateful for your advice), less sporty looking, but oh so comfortable!!

Just got mine a week ago and I love it. Everything you said about it is true but that's what makes it special imo. I love something that stands out in a crowd, and this is definately one of those things. I still have my GS if I want to go touring or ride 2 up, as an only bike might not be that practical. Have done a good 2 to 3 hours on it without any fatigue though. Oh and by the way if you only tap the indicator it flashes twice and goes off. That's what might have happened in your case.

Also a recall on rear brake disc mounting bolts that may fall out. IMHO Triumph are having quality control issues & lack of proper testing & development on 1200 rs & rr plus a lot of components are obviously being sourced from China ie disc bolts with dodgy threads & faulty cooling fan motors etc

They really need to make a Speed Triple with the round headlight , fairing and trick electronic suspension from the RR , with upright handlebars from the RS. I believe Triumph should've made it like the old half faired Sprint RS with a more forgiving riding position and have the semi-active suspension as an option or a deluxe version. thanks for the review. Have bought a new, old stock triple 1200 RR (2022 Dec. made) for a little over Ł14k (English pounds) and can't wait to receive it in the next couple of weeks. What category I would chose to place it? it is a gorgeous, powerful street bike that, in the right hands will shred tires as well as carve corners or Ill take it to Sepang and get some lap times in. I don't understand why motorbikes have to be categorised and criticised if they don't fit the norm. It is encouraging that Triumph made this bike because it is different and not a flash in the pan! In regards to categorising this is that it seems that all you bloggers stack on comments for each other and support your strange views on to the bike public. Every bike will have Knicks and knacks like indicator buttons or unusual placement. Let me tell you there is a thing called getting used to it. Not to be too critical is actually a nice change of things. stay professional and fair in views and if someone wants to spend money than so be it. I had a street fighter V4 and all the people rave about it. I did too but tires and petrol cost and servicing was just too high to make it a bike for me. So, I sold it within 14 months and it took me 18 months to find this beauty here. Can't wait. Thanks for the video and maybe look at your old videos where you have been more enthusiastic about the bikes tested.

I think the Rs standard speed triple has been ridiculed by nearly every test report for being tooo hard suspension, which isn’t fun on a long ride on roads. I believe if they fit the standard Speed Triple RS with Öhlins (Agreat Swedish Company 😂👍)they would sell by the shedload, as a better upright seating position and complient ride .Great blog cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪🏍👍🍻🍻

It's interesting hearing your thoughts on this, they sort of line up with my overall impression from seeing some of the early coverage etc. It's an absolutely stunning bike, and it certainly seems like the riding experience lives up to the looks...but is there a market for it? I really hope so, although I fear it will have many admirers, but few buyers. At that price point it needs to have a more distinct identity and target audience.

I really love the fairing for the RR. As an RS owner I would have loved a RR version without clips. My hands re just noch happy with any kind of clip ons. I'm already looking for the first RR like conversions with RS hardware. Oh and even with the clip ons: If this bike would habe been available last October it still may could have ended in my garage. I'm definitely in the target group of this bike. Love the engine and already did some longer tours with the RS. Could possible hat the 10K this year alone wich would be a first for me. The usability of the offered power of this engine is something I just do not want to miss in the future.

It would be great if you rode this back to back with the Speed Triple RS.... I've had all the Speed Triples from the MKII and loved them all and they have been real fast ROAD bikes. All I hear about the new RS is its very choppy and track focused. But this RR I've heard is a better road bike. May be do as Daytona did in Ruislip (built the Speed Quattro all those years ago from the 1200 Daytona) and turn the RR into the RS...??? I'd be really interested in your thoughts on this??? Not sure anyone else has commented but with regards to the indicators. I suspect you had them on auto advance mode. A quick prod and it only flashes about 3 or 4 times (for lane changes I guess) you have to hold the switch (left or right) a little longer for it to flash for longer and then it will turn off automatically depending on the conditions (time/distance/lean etc). You can change this feature in the settings. Hope this helps.

This addition is excellent for those wanting a slightly more sporty stance. It would be a dull world if all bikes where made to fit set categories. Those with the budget would buy this for fast A road riding and would maybe have a second bike for town work.
