    This is great! The opening shots were actually of my XE! I’m Mondo! 😁 I picked it up last Saturday and blew blast the 500 mile break-in period by mid-week🤘🏾 I don’t have a single bad thing to report...perhaps the novelty is very very fresh, but I can’t imagine I’ll find anything to complain about long term. The wind is there, but it is clean wind and not very turbulent. Commuting daily 70 miles round trip, nearly all I-5, at speed my giant head bobbles more than more torso. Your butt slippage observation is correct...smile inducing for sure! As for the metal bits, remember...they’re a combo of Aluminum and Stainless steel so it would be nearly impossible to make them look the same. The silencers and heat shield on the exhaust (directly after the bends and under the tank portion) are stainless, the small drilled intake covers and passenger heat shield/“number plate” are aluminum. Just saying. Loved the review! Love Cascade Moto...and Looooove my XE! Ride On!

    Oh dude that is awesome 👏🏻 haha ya I didn’t think the metal was a big deal but I didn’t really have much to criticize so I hyper focused 🤣 I’m super jealous, great machine and perhaps one of the best triumph is making right now. If I sell my hayabusa .... maybe the wife would let me get one ... thanks for the comment and glad to show off your bike!!!

    So glad to finally see the bikes of my youth! What I think of when I want the bike that goes well on and off road! I do like the XE version also! I bought my 1st Moto-guzzi @ this location/store! Sad to see the Moto Guzzi dropped from this dealership. But this bike! I maybe headed over to the bike store once again...I do prefer the SE model with those beautiful gold legs! @ 6'4' this is PERFECT size for me! The only change/modifications I'd make are those mirrors. A decent set of coffin shaped mirrors would be nice for me. Maybe a small faring? All in all, A fine review of a beautiful British machine! Happy birthday Mondo...Indeed!

    Really nice review! I just bought a 2020 XE in the same color setup. Absolutely love the bike - zero regrets. The steering does take a little getting used to and I'm still figuring out the modes. I bought the dart classic to help with the wind. I looked at the XC, but am glad I pulled the trigger on the XE instead.

    I agree that this is one hell of a motor cycle. As my dealer didn't have the XC, I test rode the XE thinking that it would be too tall for me at 5'11" with a 32" in-seam. However, I was so surprised that I could manage it with aplomb. OK, I was on the ball of my feet at stops, but I felt secure. However, I also rode the Speed Twin, and that is the bike for me.

    Glad to hear you got to try one of each of those, I'm jealous about the speed twin ;) I'm itching to get on one. I have a feeling that engine is going to be great on that sporty setup. I wish they made a speed twin model with high spec parts like the XE scrambler (full brembos, ohlins shocks and all that).

    Nice bike and one I seriously considered (and probably still will in future) but I'm surprised by the weight, the (lack of) power and the price. I still love it btw. But when I consider what I paid for my BMW HP2 Enduro ($19K OTD CAD in 2006) and the HP2's comparative power and weight numbers (which are both superior) nevermind its superior offroad chops, the move towards heavier bikes focused on lifestyle to some degree while sacrificing performance leaves me questioning value for $. Mfgs have gotten lucky now, they can do what has happened with the cruiser market for decades; focus on the lifestyle, not the performance. Of course where the Triumph simply blows away my BMW is the electronic aids, but I find that too juxtapositioned against the pt of the lifestyle and move towards simpler times. My bikes doesn't even have heated grips or abs. All in all, a great review.

    Thanks buddy! good comment and it's interesting about the power. It's really crazy how like 89 hp feels like so much more because of the wide power band. It'll never match up on paper next to other high power adv's but it was alot of fun. I came from a zx14R pumped up to 198 wheel hp and I love the move to triumph. Well, I still have my busa ;). All in all, what made me move to triumph was the dealer network; really cool people and the only guys to let me do these reviews which is what I really wanted. I always felt like the second I bought a japanese bike from a dealer here, the vibe was like " don't come back unless you want to buy another bike". Anywho, thanks for the comment!

Zen went straight to a local loop on off-road lanes putting it through some gnarly & boggy sections etc. 5hrs worth later clocked 120ml 1st outing (gingerly) until the bedding in process 500ml is confirmed Then I recon I’ll skin the boots for a set of Anakee 50/50 for better traction off-road. Hey, great review this bike has peaked my interest. You have the Tiger 1200, and compared it a little to that. I have a Tiger 800XC and a Tiger 1050sports. Both are quite top heavy as I would imagine the Tiger 1200 would be. How would you compare this to the smaller Tiger 800 with regards to where it wears its weight and the top heaviness of the Scrambler ?

  • @motodrang4287

    @motodrang4287

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks buddy! Good question, the tiger 800 and scrambler 1200 are roughly the same on paper (within 10 lbs) of each other but the tiger has a bigger fuel tank also so realistically the difference is probably like 15 lbs or so. as far as feel of weight both have some heft at stand still but I think the scrambler's weight is worn lower. The scrambler feels more flickable at low speed maneuvers. I don't want to oversell though, because of the scramblers height and ground clearance it definitely has some weight to it. I would say the Tiger still shines for a sporty feel at high speed turns and cruising at 80 or more :).

    You could do it but I think that the Tiger is still the king for long touring. Better wind protection is huge on a long tour and also the fact that the Tiger has a massive alternator for whatever electrical needs you have (phone, gps, heated seats, heated grips and heated gear for two riders). One of the only bikes on the road that can power that much. The Scrambler would be an awesome daytrip bike, townie bike or off roader. Thanks for the question!

    Moto Drang haha good comparison. And I agree, the weight would be the biggest challenge.

    I wrecked my 2015 KTM 690 enduro and bought a Scrambler 1200XC six months ago. The Triumph is f#*ckin amazing in dirt; much better than expected...it begs to be pushed hard and is extremely stable and agile for such a big bike. It is much more fun than the 690 for an average rider if used on fire roads or non-black-star trails. The XC isn't a "tight" trail weapon, but then neither is the 690. I found the 690 heavy-ish and very tall. I have a smaller klx 250s for real trail riding: super light, yet very capable at 75 on freeways. The Scrambler is much, much better than the 690 on freeways: stable, comfortable, fast as hell, with unbelievable gobs of torque. Plus it looks like sex on wheels... the 690 is an ugly duckling.

    JALAL AMICO I think used would be the best option for cheaper but you could try to find a late year model on clearance with a rebate :) seems like that’s what triumph typically does. It’s a hot bike though so xe models might sell out.

    Another reason I’m so glad I bought another KLR, that triumph 1200 scrambler could have been a bad ass motorcycle but it looks like triumph made a hipster bike with all the bullshit tech. Steve McQueen is rolling over in his grave.

    I dont miss the 2nd bag. There are hard and soft twin bags sold for it, however. All kinds of bags are sold for it. For me a seat mountable roll bag in 40L plus the right hand bag is all i need for camping and the one bag is great because it is light and very durable. I can fit a ton of stuff in it. It has a shoulder strap so you can take it to run errands and just shop and then click it back on the bike.
