Bought a nex XE yesterday here in Italy; the dealer said i should have it for the end of May. i traded in a 2016 triumph explorer XCX 2016, which is a great but huge and heavy bike. to say the truth i did not test ride it the Scrambler but i own a bonneville bobber with the same 1200 unit and it is a great engine; lots of torque, sounds awesome too.

It seems we've some similar ownership experiences with our Triumphs, and a few that aren't similar. I bought my 2019 Scrambler 1200 XC in June of 2020. It had 1850 miles on it, and had been a press fleet bike, so it was 2/3 of the MSRP ($9,999 instead of $14,999) and still came with a full factory warranty (the ownership of the press fleet bikes never leaves Triumph, so they can't move them along as used). Since June of 2020 I've put just shy of 30k on my Triumph. My weekly commute for work is just under 400 miles, and combined with recreational riding it adds up quick. In the time I've owned my Scrambler the only maintenance issues have been a new battery (a consumable) two sets of chain/sprockets (consumables) and a right fork seal at around the 18k mark. The tool to reassemble the forks was actually about twice the price of the fork seal and wiper. My Scrambler has never let me down or acted-up in any way. I haven't had any computer issues, although I did get a cruise control code when I changed the dead battery, and rather than simply telling me how to clear the code, the dealer wanted me to drive the 150 miles to Brea California and pay them $90 for the task. Fortunately, there are excellent forums and I learned that all that was needed to reset the code (Tune ECU and the dongle wouldn't do it, but are great for resetting my maintenance light when triggered for service) was to switch on the ignition, grab and release the front brake, depress and release the rear brake, fully open and close the throttle, compress and release the clutch lever, and depress the cruise control button. Apparently, the computer needed to see those five inputs which affect cruise control to reset the code. My Scrambler has been a great ride for me, and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

I agree with you completely. I own a 2012 Tiger 1050 and you're issues translate to my bike. I can't wait 10,00 miles per oil change also if one shops the oil and filters are much cheaper out side the dealership. very informative video..thank you PS I will be getting Scrambler later this year. also google cross reference filters because Wix, K&N Fram etc have filters suitable for your needs

I'm put off by the keyless ignition. Very good-looking bike. I'd have one, but I'm happry with my Yamaha SCR950. About as basic a motorcycle as it's possible to be. Reminds me of the XT500 I had in the '80s. With a Sportster engine shoehorned in. I've heard the same about Triumph. Ever so polite when they're selling you the bike. Not so concerned after. Chains rarely need adjusting between services. Good video.

Smiling, after your remark about people asking if it’s an older bike. I too have new scrambler and have had that same question asked, but I’ve had exactly the same question asked 44 years ago, about my new 1978 Triumph Bonneville 750. I was choked then, but of course they still looked (and behaved) like the old Triumphs. Different story now, stunning bikes.

I've had half a dozen Bonneville based Triumphs in the last few years here in the UK. Wishful thinking if you expect Triumph to honour warranty claims, they're infamous for not responding to them. I don't even bother now.

Good review and hopefully a good bike because I pick mine up tomorrow. The dealer had to locate one in the regional warehouse. Traded in an 2018 t120. No issues with it

I bought a Bonneville T120 instead of the Scrambler but I agree....they are some of the best looking bikes out there. I'm not following Triumph's recommended service schedule either. First oil change at 1000 kilometers and the next will be at 5000 kilometers and every 5000 kilometers thereafter. 10k mile oil change schedules kinda sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me. I'd rather change it more frequently than less....

Love the new Scrambler XC as soon as I saw it at dealership. Mine after a few sleepless nights. I had this problem once before, when I bought my first new 1978 750 Bonnie.

Hi, I bought a new one of these 15 months ago and have never regretted it. I've had my 1st service, then it's annual one at our 'local' (75 miles) dealer in Blackburn UK and they've been exemplary, if not cheap. 220 British pounds for the annual, but that's for obviously the oil & filter change, adjust clean and lube the chain and a very thorough itemised check over, including changing the key fob battery, and plugging in and running the diagnostics. in fairness, around £150 of that is labour and 20% purchase tax (VAT). Love the bike still and also do the look back as I walk away from it.

Yep, I test rode one a few weeks ago here in Dallas, TX. (March of 2024) I put a $500 deposit down on the XE, and have been waiting impatiently ever since.

First off, thanks for the watch and comment. I appreciate that. Second, I have heard of the frame cracking from Life of a Scramblers channel last year and one other person mentioned it in a comment but I was not aware it was a common issue. I just had my skid plate off last week and checked everything out underneath. All looks as it should. Ill have to look into this. Thanks!

The brake line issue isn't so much a Triumph but a dealership issue. Unfortunately, after sale support is dealer specific. Thanks for the info on purchasing the oil and filter. The scrambler is great motorcycle. I was contemplating selling my Speed Twin for the Scrambler. Lets face it , Triumph makes great motorcycles.

Iam I am seriously considering trading in my Ultra Limited 2021 for a new Scrambler XE. I had several HD's and they all have problems. Just got new front brake discs on it 5000km ago,...they are now crooked again!!! Get tired of it...wait for the trade-in offer today and then switch❤

@@aussiewantok I do some light offroad. A couple of times I've bitten off more than I should have with it, haha. I absolutely have some camping trips planned for this year.

Great bike ... wish it could fit into my life. Your problems with the dealer, while no fun sure, don't compare to what I understand was going on, say, 8 years ago: dealers were having so much trouble with corporate Triumph ... I think it created problems for everyone. For what it's worth, I'll never buy oil and filter at a dealer, having closer auto parts stores is just one reason to go there instead, inflated prices is another. Enjoy that Scrambler!

I appreciate what your saying. There are so many incredible bikes out there I would love to purchase! And I believe my issue was with that one dealership. I don't believe it's an accurate representation of them as a whole.

The biggest problem with this bike is, I can't imagine riding a better one!

5,000 mile oil changes are probably a good compromise. 2,500-3,000 is a bit pointless. The chain should only need adjusting about every 4-5,000 miles as long as you lube it weekly.

Want one bad… exhaust concerns me though

I believe that is correct as the mapping hasn't changed since 2019. I can tell you there have been a few updates to the actual app. Thanks !

So to reset the oil light, triumph can unlock that setting through programming. On my screen I have an oil reset option

yes, i had the option on my bike but it wasnt functional. I had to use the Tune ECU software to be able to access and adjust the information. If you are able to reset yours thats fantastic!

I appreciate that, my man! I am blessed with living and working in areas with an abundance of gravel back roads. Some of those videos are state game lands here in Pennsylvania. Some are AEP lands in Ohio. Specifically you could go to Leidy township I'm Clinton County, pa and ride back gravel/dirt roads all day long. A section of the PA BDR runs thru there as well.

I did nothing to the map. My understanding is that this is an adaptive ecu and can "learn" as you ride it and make auto corrections.

I believe that after changing the exhaust, if you start the bike from cold and leave it for roughly 10-15mins until the Rad fan comes on without touching any controls or throttle, it will update the ECU with your current exhaust configuration. That's what I did anyway, and no issues so far.

i appreciate this video, thank you. i’m going buy one tomorrow, 2022 XC model, after twenty years of not having a bike. can’t wait. question for you. i hear a lot of stories of the hot exhaust inside the right leg. on the 2022 models they’ve moved the cat back towards the end of the tail pipes from where they were next to the knee….have you had any issues with too much heat on your right knee or leg with yours ?

Excellent! I honestly think the heat thing depends on the person and where exactly their leg is depending on their height. Like you said for the 22's they moved the cat back. I can feel it's hot if I am stopped in hot weather and have my right leg down. It isn't too hot to bother me and I never notice an issue while moving. Grats on picking one up!

@@scrambler_adventures : thank you, and good to hear that the heat from the exhaust isn’t an issue for you. i haven’t had a bike in twenty years because of a head on collision. i decided never to ride again, but got bite by the big when i saw this bike and fell in love. it’s the kind of attachment only us motorcyclists can understand. people that don’t have an interest in motorcycles will never understand.

@@scrambler_adventures : paid for it, it’s getting prepped. picking it up next week. you guys making these videos really love this bike. everyone has all good things to say. the bike i’m picking up is new so they couldn’t let me test ride it. i hope it’s as good as everyone says considering i paid $12,000 for something i haven’t tested.

@@scrambler_adventures : i did. glad i did. all you guys were right on. it’s exactly as everyone made it out to be. i fell in love in that show room. honestly, you can’t go wrong with this bike. it’s a high tech retro with no plastic all over it. this bike is made to be naked , and classy, so there’s no need to cover it with fairings. it’s pure motorcycle, it beautiful, and it has power all the time. people look ! when i bring it home, i look lol

When you don't get satisfaction or hear anything back from your dealership on warranty issues. Call the manufacturer! They will get stuff done. Had to call BMW about my dealership as they would only give me 1 key fob. BMW called b.s. on that and said every vehicle; whether car or motorcycle, always comes with 2 key fobs. Dealership wasn't too happy, but i got my 2nd/spare fob and have gotten 2 on every other bike since then.

I agree. Whether a warranty claim is successful is down to whether your dealer can be arsed to fight on your behalf. Find a good one and stick with them.

Pitt Cycles, however, I cant recommend them as the best thing about them was my salesman and he no longer works there.

Call triumph about parts. There’s three guys in Atlanta that do a pretty good job. Dealer does not care.

I hope you bought the "exact" same oil ... doubtful you can get it at your local auto parts store, Motorcycle oil is specially formulated to support wet clutches and gearbox function.

I thought the same thing, but it is exactly the same. The auto parts store mentioned is a USA wide chain and has a motorcycle specific section, albeit small.

That is so true and the reason I would buy the bike from the dealer with the best price. Usually the dealer with the least fees.
