    Del, once again I am struck by your ability to demonstrate and explain things simply and completely. Good show! I've said it before but I give your channel the most credit for giving me the confidence to tackle jobs I would have once consider out of my reach. Thank you so much for that.

    You're most welcome John, that's the aim, if we can, just to inspire a little confidence to give it a go, it's just assembly, pure nuts and bolts, and on a job like this with these kind of parts, everything slots straight on and fits first time, so no hurdles to overcome, just the joy of doing your own upgrades!

    I can relate to that, but in reality, once you take away the left hand silencer, it looks a bit daft with the huge foot lever stuck right out..! maybe a more slimline stand like on the big Tiger adventure bikes would work as a replacement.!

    I've got to that age where the first thing I do when I buy a 2nd hand bike is put a stock exhaust back on it! My son is constantly at me about the how the exhaust on my r1 looks like a lamp post but I like the standard noise and the funny thing was the after market one that was on it was heavier. The other thing is I think (maybe misguided) is that you can go faster with a stock exhaust without attracting any attention, other people think you're going too fast when they hear a loud pipe even if you're not going full pelt. Good 'how to' video though.

    @@itsmemarkt Hi Mark, firstly congratulations on taking the plunge!... let's sort out those two small issues... your brake lever is close to the exhaust, but it shouldn't foul it, so it may need some adjustment to just shift it a little inwards so it clears... I covered everything in my video, but if it's possible there may be an anomaly with the exhaust, you could contact George at TEC who may have come across that problem and know how to advise you........ but am sure it's just a case of loosening off the headers and getting everything wriggles in to place, remember like I said in the video, it's important to get that link pipe under the engine installed all the way in as far as it can go, otherwise that could be why your right hand pipe is sticking out a little............ as far as the springs go, I had a couple like that, and all you need to do is 'GENTLY' bend the loops that are welded to the pipe away from each other a little to widen the gap... I moved mine maybe 5mm each and the spring was taught.... George covers this in his video as well! Hope that helps, let us know how you get on!

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    Not at all mate, pointless as there's no tuning available on this particular model, the ECU is locked, however, the exhaust was designed around the parameters of this bike, and it's ECU will re-adjust with a 10min set up run and fuel just fine... it was designed that way. You can add a fuel booster plug, which we will be doing and that gives a little richer mixture on pull away and acceleration... but that's not necessary for it to run safely, that's just an improvement if you want it!

    That's a cool trick Ken, and I can see the common sense in that, fortunately Triumph have thought this one through, they know it's a totally inaccessible nut, but they give you just enough room to put a spanner on it and they make it a lock nut, so when you undo it, you can take it right to the end of the bolt and it will stay there... and thanks again for the glue trick, noted for the future!

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    3 жыл бұрын

    Sure thing buddy, the baffle sadly is a little over restrictive and denies you the full development of the exhaust, but wide open does bellow a little at the same time, so the best option is actually to cut the baffle in half, as the guys at TEC have suggested, this cuts down on the hollow echo of the open pipe and allows, at the same time, a nice flow to breathe and the pipe work's then as designed.

  • @Moonfleet41

    Hi Pete, totally agree, why would you buy a main stand for one job... but how about this option, it's a set of paddock stand bobbins that slip through the centre of your rear axle, then you can just pop a paddock stand under the rear and get it up nice and safe... if you don't have a paddock stand, then maybe consider it as an investment, it's perfect for chain adjustment and lubrication and even winter storage... www.tecbikeparts.com/product/street-twin-street-cup-street-scrambler-paddock-stand-bobbins-axle-adapter-bobbins-kit/

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nope, it's fine, because the system was designed around the ECU, not the other way round... effectively developed within the parameters of the ECU's range and if it ran lean, you'd see if straight away as the top corner of the header pipes would turn blue & purple, and as you saw, they simply went slightly yellow straw colour so that's nice and cool. Also, the removal of the cat cools down the entire system and prevents the significant heat soak from having a red hot cat right underneath your sump.

    Nice that sounds great mate! Gotta love TEC for the build quality to a price point. Any issues with lack of back pressure running these baffles out? I've done a decat on my Bobber with Tridents and they don't recommend losing the baffles as there's only so much the ECU can adjust for (they are very free flowing though). To be honest my ears were bleeding without baffles so I've left them in , though I did cut them down by half. 😉 I love your care and attention to the standard parts as well , if only all mechanics showed as much love. 👍

With the baffle, I'm going half and half, running a Thruxton baffle, which is like the I showed, except cut down to 1" long and a little bigger bore, you can buy them from TEC and they recommend them too, as like you say, it gives that optimum back pressure, but still nice and open and comfortably louder, not bellowing and hollow!

    I didn't design it, but speaking to the guy who did, the T-piece provides back pressure and increases low down torque, the fast the flow, the more revs you need, and there was extensive dyno development to create this exhaust, and having ridden it, it seriously works, more low down grunt than normal and a really pleasing torque surge from as a low as 2k revs!
