No, he's actually pretty prominent and well respected through the r&b soul genre. He sings well, but he also has brother that can notably outsing him. His writing and production is what he is best at for sure

Never knew a country singer like Trisha could deliver this song so good and Babyface is absolute genius in pop music world.

Madonna's vocals capture the fresh pain and intensity of heartbreak. While Trisha's rendition reflects the sad remembrance of losing the person you loved all those years ago. Beautifully done.

Madonna did in fact present these lyrics to Face and she suggested the live strings be in the song. That being said, Babyface took her recommendations and they produced beautiful music together. Both are in the songwriters hall of fame.

Yes, I’ve heard lots of people over the years say Madonna had nothing to do with this song and it was all babyface. Not dissing Babyface, but this is a Madonna ballad, and a Madonna song! They both did themselves well….

Wow, I've always loved this song that Madonna and Kenny wrote but I had NO idea that there was a Trisha X Babyface CMT Crossroads PERFORMANCE of this exquisitely composed song!?!?!? I feel like I just entered a wonderful new dimension where this exists. So beautiful, and so glad Kenny sang the second verse! So beautiful!

Tricia Yearwood did a beautiful cover of this Madonna staple; I don't think any country artist has ever tackled a Madonna hit. Kudos to Ms. Yearwood!!! (And hurrah to Babyface!!)

Trish does a great job singing this song and what can you say about Babyface. He is just a juggernaut in the music industry. His background vocals are top notch. He does a great job whether it is Madonna or Trish singing.

One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Always been a big fan of Madonna’s version. But this is truly outstanding 🙏🏻

I think we forget baby face (Kenneth Edmonds) dominated the music industry behind the scenes by composing and producing a lot of hits back then. Madonna is still one of my favorites but this is equally his song as it is hers.

Wonderful cover. Trisha did an amazing job with this, but truly this is a Madonna song. People criticize Madonna's voice, but she packs so much emotion into her delivery. Her version emulates the bittersweet emotion of this song. But, again, kudos to Trisha.

I agree about Madonna putting so much emotions into her songs. I know Yearwood could sing, but this performance makes you appreciate Madonna’s singing, and you can tell this isn’t that easy to sing. Babyface sounds fantastic.

Having said what I said earlier, Babyface part is stunningly beautifully phrased.

Kenny, Kevon and Melvin are truly gifted vocalists. We are so blessed to have them. Trisha is lovely too.

Trisha looks and sounds great!! This was a very unexpected duet!

This is a nice cover. Trisha sang it beautifully, although It doesn’t pack the same emotional punch that Madonna’s gorgeous vocals that make Take A Bow so heartbreaking. People have always written Madonna off as a vocalist and lyricist, but if you go back and listen to many of her ballads, particularly through the 90’s she was quite often brilliant. She may be a bit wacky and out of touch these days, but she has an impressive back catalogue filled with many hidden gems as well as the monster hits the GP are most familiar with. When she is gone there will be a reassessment of her work and she will finally be given credit for her brilliant artistry.

@@dwyt77 let’s be honest that babyface composed, produced and wrote the majority of it. Madonna did put the same ballad essence in it vocally that we heard in I’ll remember and this used to be my playground.

Say what you want, but when Madonna was serious about writing serious songs, she pulled no punches. This gorgeous ballad is unmatched it terms of lyrical and melodic content.

yeah she was pretty good but hit a couple of flat notes when she tried to go high, but overall did a good job. Baby face was better i think

So funny how she looks at him when he hits that falsetto and kinda loses where she is and smiles like “ damn he sounds angelic” but then gets back quick to her part. LoL. BabyFace is LEGENDARY!

@@lindseycarribean5113 I love, love Trisha's rendition. Madonna has the timbre & emotions. But Trisha has many things. Her power is good, the vocal is stabil with no shakyness at all. Her range is wide. She does it good at high & low. She plays the tempo, you can hear her being soft at one time & strong at another time. I can go on, and I believe you can add. But at the end, everybody has their own favorite singer or rendition. 😄

I am almost obsessed with Trisha Yearwood (I have every one of her original CDs and quite a few of the compilation CDs), and I think she has one of the best voices of all time. I also love Babyface (I have most of his original CDs and I still believe "Whip Appeal" is one of the best songs ever written/sung period). I like Madonna. But honestly, as good as this performance was, it makes me appreciate Madonna's version more. She's not got nearly the vocal talent Trisha has, but her original recording nailed it. Trisha is all warmth and amazing depth; Madonna is colder, more emotionally controlled, and yet her version is better; Trisha sounds heartbroken, but Madonna sounds angry/sad/resigned/nostalgic, all wrapped up in a very controlled vocal that highlights why she is Madonna and no one else is or ever will be. It's always struck me as ironic that Madonna isn't a great actress in movies but when it comes to vocals, she blows everyone else away. I love Trisha. But I'd rather hear Madonna's version every single time.

This is why I say Madonna as a vocalist is completely underrated. Trisha is such an amaizng vocalist, but she doesn't put the same sultriness and intimacy that works so well when Madonna sings it. I love Trisha but this just does not hit the same way as Madonna's version.

Tricia is just singing the song there is no emotion or feelings to it. Madonna performance is superior. You can feel the sadness and pain when she sings. That's what makes the song special. Being a singer is more than just straight singing a song.
