Paul, one of the things about your videos that make them so useful is the way you present them. You certainly have the qualifications but you present your videos in a very clear and simple manner so that a beginner can quickly understand and start applying the lessons to start taking great photos. You don’t talk down to anyone but encourage people to have the same passion and enjoyment that you have. The videos are useful regardless of your level of expertise. Keep up the great work!

I bought the Manfrotto BeeFree tripod after watching your review on it a while back and commented on how amazing it was. Having had it now for more than a year I have to say I’m still loving it. It’s handled every situation I’ve thrown at it and never once let me down. If anyone is looking for a travel tripod I can 100% recommend this one. Now finding I’m doing more stuff in my home studio I am definitely going to get the 550 based on this video. Thank you for making amazing content.

As a beginner I started with a budget tripod and although it served me well it was a bit cumbersome especially travelling through airports and on planes, it was a bit too long to get through airport security gates and walk up aisles on aircraft without snagging as it had to attach to my camera bag horizontally. I have since invested in a K & F Concept travel tripod which packs down at least 10 cms smaller, has a far better ball head and is so much more stable. It also has a removable leg which acts as a monopod, so great value. Great tips regarding turning off image stabilisation whilst on a tripod and using a remote or self timer (we have all forgot to do this at some point I’m sure) 🤯 Love your channel Paul, you have helped me improve my photography in leaps over the last 12 months and I no longer regard myself as a beginner but more an amateur with lots still to learn. What’s good is I am getting images I am proud of compared to when I started and feel more confident on every trip out 👍

This video contains nearly everything a beginner needs to know (no mention of mirror prerelease or materials the tripod may be made of) Superb presentation an example to all who post on YT! Only one personal note - Most top makers make tripods that can really take a bashing and there are lots of barely used ones out there so it is an item that I would always buy used.

I love my tripods! (Mostly Manfrotto, which are good enough, but strongly dislike the stability of their less-expensive geared head) I use them almost all the time. I really, really like how you explain everything so clearly and thoroughly. I've been shooting a long time, but I always pick up something from your videos. I often forget to turn off (or back on) image stabilization when using a tripod. Thanks for another awesome video!

Thanks to you i am very familiar now with it's menus and basic photography as well (shutter speed, F, ISO, metering modes, exposure bracketing). I adore your style. It is simple and precise. Your videos are scribed on my brain. Greetings from Greece 😊

Paul - Update to my comment below. Have spent some time just post-sunset taking aperture-prio photos on the tripod (I swear the one that came from with my FZ300 is the first one in your demos). It does NOT support Nikon D3500 with 28-300... too shaky. Its marginally passable with FZ300, but I noticed last night even using 2 second delay the photos were not quite crisp for shutter speeds approaching 1 sec or more. Just ordering thru your link (although I'm in US - hope you still get credit) the MK290. Thanks for all your great videos!! I find as I improve, I just generate more questions for myself, so continue to revisit your GREAT videos!

LOL, in the good old time of film photography ( in my youth ) having a solid tripod was mandatory, even for portrait photographers. These days of imaging computers masquerading as cameras, with their IBIS and VC or equivalent, the need for a tripod is rather negated. I have a dozen tripods, a couple of Gitzos, Manfrotto, Benro, Induro, Velbon, Benbo, etc. One of the Gitzos, a French built Studex with the PL5 platform is capable of supporting my Cambo Studio Tech 4X5 camera with ease, even at full extension with a 240mm lens. You have given good advice here. My only coupleof point to add are to spend the money once and buy the best for one's needs, and IMHO a tripod as well as being rigid , also has to have heft to provide stability. The new trend of CF tripods, do not always provide both those requirements.

Paul, great video thanks! Do you think the Manfrotto ELEMENT CARBON can support as much weight and give the same stability as the Manfrotto BeeFree one? Each tripod says it supports up to 4kg, but the carbon one is lighter... It would be to support the weight of a Fuji X-T5 and 16-55mm (around 1.5kg) with the camera leaning back (or forward) at 45 degrees angle for long exposures. Thanks.

I seem to have a problem with the plate staying tight on my canon &0D. I have to carry a taped quarter to aSurui tripodto keep tightening plate to camera. I have a disabled arm & it’s not easy to have to detach everything just to tighten plate. Any suggestions? I use an Oben gimbal head which has caused me to want to fling it into the lake as it has made photography so much harder. Everyone describes a gimbal head as oh you can just adjust with one finger. Not true if you’re disabled. I thank you for the center column not raising bc I have had 2 sigma 18-300 mm lenses become accordions bC as the lens face planted TWICE that’s a lot of $$ lost. I’m not as free with movement using gimball. But it was while using ball head the camera face planted. Thanks for tips. Can you discuss turning camera to landscape via loosening the collar. I see others do it so fast. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Yep, you need to be using it a lot to justify the cost, thanks for watching Jim.

I have one very cheap One after my camera almost broke I decide to buy A better one for 300$ instead using 30$ I mean buy a cheap one but when the camera with all of us will be much expensive to repair it so this is one of the good investment when you buy a new camera and you need a tripod don’t ever buy a cheap one.

The ads are a necessity I'm afraid, there is so much invested in putting these videos together that this channel and content would simply not exist without having some way to fund it. I do appreciate the feedback and hope you still enjoyed the video and tips. Best wishes.

    1) Why don't you show the different tripod-moduls and tripod-heads in a proper way? Hurry, hurry and hurry again. Anyone who is interested wants to see it in ""slow motion"" and for all in detail. Now you are rushing and sometimes keep your hand before the different heads so no one is able to see it properly. 2) why don't you show less types and these ones in more detail. Besides you rush/talk so quick. Interested people drop out quickly. A shame because I think your information could be very interesting and helpful.
