Our mistakes is what we learn from! I have a Precision Matthews PM25 mill and highly recommend it. It's on the high end of the desktop mills I think. Certainly a step above a grizzly or otherwise. Thanks for watching, Joey!
Looking great! Glad that you leave in all of your v trials/learning steps! Thanks again Dennis.

That's great, Barry! I've never done a friction folder myself, but I've done a slip-joint. Somehow I'm not a fan of the piece poking out from a friction folder. 🤷♂️

I saw a This Old Tony video lately in which he spoke of his less expensive chucks being a little off-center and snapping his end-mills. Do you watch his antics too?
@TyrellKnifeworks

Do you mean collets? I’ve never had that issue and mine are pretty cheap ones. I’m pretty careful and don’t take deep passes but with the small end mills it’s just inevitable when they start to get dull. I’ve seen Tony’s channel before but I’m not a regular viewer.

@@TyrellKnifeworks Yes, I mean collets. I have no idea why I said chucks! I watch his channel for the comedy, but not everyone has time for that.

@@likebot. I wasn't just trying to correct you, I was wondering if he somehow made a video on using an end mill with a jacobs chuck to show the issues with that (and the associated comedy). 😉

@@TyrellKnifeworks Ah, I see. His latest video titled "How much does a $3 collet cost" was about using an adapter in his milling machine and the cheap collets he was using in it. "Chuck" is my inexperience poking through like a sore thumb LOL. Thanks for the help.

One thing I don't understand about take-down knives is Why? Why would I want to take it apart later?
@TyrellKnifeworks

It’s actually very useful to take it down. You can clean it, re-etch the blade, fix or replace the handle, lots of reasons. It’s nice to be able to work on each piece separately as well. Thanks for watching.

What is the POINT of a take down forged blade ? Is there going to be two or three types of different fittings / handle design on one blade ? If not what is the point ? It amazes me how American knife design has become too overly worked ....
@TyrellKnifeworks
3 ай бұрын
You're a bladesmith yourself, yet you don't understand the answer to this question? Pretty much all Japanese blades are constructed as takedowns, it's not an "American" knife design. The point is that you can take the knife apart, clean it, care for it, without destroying it. Dial back your attitude a bit and you might get a better response. (Also, I'm not American, I'm Canadian.)
Do it all by hand filing and basic sanders and grinder wheels. None of us can relate to you.

This series is for knifemakers. It’s an advanced series and if you don’t at least have a 2x72, this series is not for you. If you don’t have knifemaking tools, don’t try advanced knifemaking.
