Could you make a triple T about a blade/knife grinding jig. If its necessary or not, pros and cons.

@@FK-sn6zw I've covered that topic in my recent videos on grinding tips. I don't suggest a grinding jig. It just delays the inevitable of you having to learn to grind freehand. There are things you can't do with a jig or they are so tedious and time consuming that its not worth it. If you are making 20 or 30 copies of the same knife, then yes a jig might help, but that's really the only use case I suggest them for.

There is something very cool about lathe work, I started my woodcarving exploits using chisels and all that , then discovered lathe work and very quickly went from mostly carving to mostly lathe work. I evened it out somewhat later though and came back to blacksmithing ...turns out I am fickle lol The bowie is looking awesome

@@TyrellKnifeworks It's a round, spring loaded device that is put into a chuck in the tailstock. It is used to start a tap straight when tapping by hand. Your tap handle probably has a hole, or a dimple on the back. The spring center is brought forward, and loaded up there.

I meant to add a mention... I did a pommel nut on my mill before I had a lathe in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4iJuJWBeZCxZLQ.html. You just need to put the work in your collet and then put a lathe tool in your vice. It works quite well. (of course you need a mill). Thanks for watching.
