    Yellow first and then blue and finally red truck. The reason for the red truck being the last to move is because it is going to turn onto a main road whereas both the Yellow and BLue vehicles are on the mainroad.

    The road signs were the very first thing I looked for. I chose correctly. I received my license in 1978. A lot has changed regarding signs and rules since then. Often it is difficult to understand and accept a new sign design that was only recently introduced. But there is no replacement for experience. No matter how much one tries to teach through classroom and programs, experience on the road can only be gained.....on the road. That is why it is so important to pay attention and not be distracted. You have to not only look what you are doing, but watch what those drivers around you are doing as well. In real life, the situation presented in the video would have the yellow minivan complacent and with the thought process that it has the right of way, and therefore demand that all others respect that. The blue car however is in a hurry and dont have time to wait, so will demand that the minivan just slow and get out of the way to avoid a crash. Meanwhile the KW driver will be shaking his head and saying to himself "this is going to be a shitshow".

    A typical oil tanker semi-trailer has a length of 42.64 feet. There is no way that Red truck is going to make that turn without going over the curb taking out the corner sign, and possibly risk the fuel tank falling over, spilling and catching fire. This is also assuming that the semi cab can navigate the sharp turn without going over the debris which would mess up his front end. Besides, with or without the debris on the road, the Red Truck needs are larger turning radius so the Blue Car is in the way either way. The Yellow Minibus seeing all this, panics and drives over the debris and promptly gets stuck, flees his car and runs into the adjacent grassy field screaming "the end of the world is near."

  • @smhedge

    @smhedge

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Misteribel the roads do not have equal importance. The one with the car and van has priority because it goes straight through (without the construction mess, there is no reason to even slow down). With the construction, the car has to stop for obvious reasons. The van should slow down, but not stop. For the truck, even if it did not have the yield sign (which it does), there is an implied yield. What you are referring to with yielding to traffic on the right, comes from multiple vehicles arriving at a 4-way stop simultaneously. Even without signs, the correct order is van, car, then truck. As an aside, that truck could not make that turn with the car sitting there, anyway, without the trailer running through the grass and taking out the yield sign.

    @@smhedge I don't know about US, you're probably right. In Europe, without signs, there's no implicit yield, cars must give way to traffic from the right (only exception is when it's an exit, like from a garage). I live near such a street going to work, and everyone drives slow, looking to their right, at each of the many streets entering the main street. Without a sign that says who yields, you yield for traffic from the right. Been like that for ages in Europe, and one the main rules they test for when getting your driver's license. Here in Germany, you wouldn't have this situation, because if the truck has a yield sign, the yellow truck also have a priority sign. This is not the case here, as the sign you can see for the yellow is the same as the blue has (just with the intersection posting in the other direction). So any assumption from here to there is wrong. With a priority sign: yellow, blue, truck. Without priority/yield for anyone, so taking the rule right before left, well, that is tricky. The blue one would be first then, if there was no obstacle on his side, then the truck and the yellow last. But with the obstacle on the road, it would be § 1: Participation in road traffic requires constant caution and mutual consideration. Means, someone has to take a step back, and grant someone priority he would have above. So, giving hand signals to the one you want to yield to open this knot. I.E. allowing the red to drive first, then the yellow and the blue last. This is case dependent. But, this is the US, not Germany, so it has to be yellow, blue, red.

    As a truck driver, that intersection would be a nightmare. Threading between the sign and debris without taking out the sign would be next to impossible with the debris obstructing the road ahead, it would still be an extremely tight squeeze with the truck fully in the oncoming lane. I'd be turning left and either looking for a better place to turn around and return to the intersection, or an alternate route if faster. (The left turn would still be difficult, but you can actually see the space between the truck and sign from the driver's seat, mostly blind on the passenger side.) Interesting. Diamond shaped signs usually happen to designate a priority road in Europe. Of course the symbol gives away there's an intersection ahead. Signs that designate danger, hazards or invoke extra attention are triangle shaped, white with a red border over here in Europe, though the symbols are very similar. It's good to be aware of different road signs around the world when travelling. When there's an obstruction on your side of the road requiring you to go around using the oncoming side of the road, you have to yield for oncoming traffic and the yield sign for the truck completes the puzzle. Bus first, car second, truck third.

Blue also has to turn *and* use the oncoming lane. It has to yield to all traffic rightfully using that lane. This means blue has to yield to both. Wonder what it is in US rules. [pressing play]

    Blue would be invading yellow's lane (even if it weren't for the "be prepared to stop" sign, which any reasonable person reads as AT LEAST "yield", if not an outright stop sign. So Blue should be waiting. Red has a yeild. So yellow has right-of-way. Yellow is also straight-thru on the "mainline", so he's got right-of way. Once he's gone, Blue is right of red, (red also has a yield) so goes next. Red waits until the coast is clear, makes his turn. Scenario complete. Order of go: Yellow, blue, red.

Blue car continuing forward with debris in it's lane, yellow bus turning right with the truck in it's lane and the truck turning right from the "T" intersection while sitting in the wrong lane. The red truck is in the yellow minibus' way, the blue car is in the red truck's way and the yellow minibus is in the blue car's way. I know in Missouri at least, cars entering oncoming traffic lanes are at the absolute bottom of the maneuver priority list, even below yield signs. So long as the truck driver is capable of making the turn alongside the blue car safely, he would have Right of Way after the yellow car. If trucker doesn’t feel secure in making the turn sharp enough, he is then required to signal via a wave through/light flash that blue should proceed.

I looked at the guide - dor.mo.gov/forms/Driver%20Guide.pdf - and the rule without a stop sign/traffic lights is for the truck to give way to traffic on its right - the guide does not say what lane that traffic has to be in. It is red and white with red letters. It means you must slow down and yield the right-of-way to traffic in the intersection you are crossing or roadway you are entering." this would only apply to traffic from the left if i am making a right hand turn (as the red truck). my interpretation is that i wouldnt need to yield to the blue car as long as i dont travel into his lane. i would argue that blue IS required to yield to the truck because he is crossing into the lane of oncoming traffic. furthermore, this situation wouldnt happen without a flagger present anyway according to page 51. "This is work that takes place on a two-lane, two-way roadway with one lane closed. A flagger(s) will be present at the beginning and end points of the work zone providing traffic control to oncoming vehicles. Again, a test of practicality and common sense. In the situations like this that forces one of the lanes to enter the opposite direction, the cars in the blocked lane have to act as if they will turn left, whether there actually is a left to be turned to. So they have to yield to the incoming traffic. The main thing to consider is that it is neither the incoming cars' duty nor responsibility to stop and wait, unless there is an officer telling or signalling them to do so. If uncontrolled, whether they choose to move a little right themselves and make space for 2 vehicles, even if possible, is their prerogative. They aren't obligated to. So in this situation, the car will only yield to the minibus. Because the truck has to yield to both, because it is trying to enter a main road.

    Not everyone drives like the US--which is why channels like this one exist. Typically, whoever occupies the lane, has right of way--like the yellow car. If the obstruction was in his lane, then the blue car would have right of way. The red truck is stopped--which is mandatory at an intersection like this. He can only turn if/when the road is clear for him to make the turn safely. Sometimes you'll see drivers try to force their way through an intersection like this--especially if there's a lot of traffic. Sometimes the yellow car will stop and allow the truck to turn, with a wave, but that requires the blue care to be patient. I really wish we had a method to take turns in high traffic areas, but that's not the case here.

If the road work was another vehicle he couldn't just go around it and get in yellow's lane with yellow approaching. He waits for yellow to get behind him then goes around the pile. Red yields so that blue and yellow are out of the way before making his turn. Would red be able to make a left turn at this corner even if no other vehicles were present? Though the rule in America is that you give way to traffic approaching from your right, this is not a cross road, it's a T junction, so that doesn't apply to the van here, only the truck does it apply. So the Yellow van has the right of way. The blue car would normally have the right of way, but in this case it has its lane blocked, the car is stopped and needs to leave its lane and drive on to oncoming traffic, therefore it needs to wait till the way is clear. The Truck cannot proceed till the car moves on, because of the wide angel the truck needs to take, so because of this the car gets precedence over the Truck.

    I initially thought minibus only, but I changed my mind. If the obstruction wasn't there, then the red truck would not have to wait for the blue car to pass. Blue car has to use the wrong side of the road, It should yield to anybody who is using - or is trying to use - that side of the road. This includes the red truck. Where this one gets a bit tricky is when you consider the size of the turning circle of the truck. It might need to use both lanes of the main road in order to enter it. It's pretty stupid that america has more rectangular signs at a 45 degree rotation. In europe it's only for the sign giving (or taking away) right of way, but when it's taking away, then it must be combined or followed-up by stop (the only octagon) or by a triangle with two corners at the top and one corner on bottom, which means to yield. You never want drivers to approach an unregulated intersection that has "end of right of way" sign only, because no one else can recognize it from the back. This way we have three shapes that are recognizable from any direction so you always know who has right of way.

Since the minibus has an unobstructed lane and no control elements in the intersection, it has the right-of-way. The blue car needs to make a pass to avoid the rubble, but nothing else (other than oncoming traffic) is restricting it's movement. Meanwhile, the Truck has a Yield sign, so he must yield for ALL traffic in the lane he's going to turn into, which will include the blue car. Of course, our instructor here seems to have a tendency to lean toward the overcautious at times, so although 1 is legally correct, he might say the answer is 3.

    It could be and according to what I see to avoid congestion or accidents according to the photograph, an official who works in the repair should be directing traffic, if by any chance there is no worker, if the roads are not very busy, and the three vehicles are found at the same time, for me it should be by logic and mutual agreement; pass first the minibus by right of way, then the sedan and finally the truck so that it can maneuver safely and the others who come are obliged to give priority and space to heavy transport.
